I'm fairly sure that doesn't make any sense, since the Vintage Edit (I think) will use laserdisc footage to restore non-SE elements. So... the X0 project would be the best to use if DE were to incorporate any laserdisc footage.

Second disc has a few seeders now, and I've hopped off. Big thanks to Jaiman for helping with the seeding duties on this one. Now that this is out there, we've got that restoration to look forward to

I'd never seen it before today and I have to admit, I really like the design. Reminds me a lot of some of the classic SW posters.

If you wanna do a new transfer or, better yet, let mcfly borrow your tapes after you make a new transfer (so he doesn't have to work from a DVD), that'd be cool. I'm sure it would help in some capacity.

What mcfly has as a source is a Bravo broadcast of the extended version, but it's a shortened extended version (if that makes any sense). He did it by capturing the video as DV video to his hard drive as it aired. He'll be compositing this, my Encore broadcast DVDs and the Waterworld home video to make an extended edition composite from the best available elements.

Lorang's PAL version actually runs at 29.97fps for whatever reason. I'll send that to you, mcfly, with my Encore version.

It looks just as dirty, just a bit different in color. Did you take the cap with PowerDVD? That would account for the color difference, that program "enhances" color by default.

Yes, this is correct. Mitch's tapes were the source of my first copy of the Encore Waterworld on DVD. Got some good discs in that trade.

Well, mcfly's work will be a disc, yeah. It won't be 2 of 2, though. The disc I uploaded to Demonoid was the first half of the flick, so disc 2 from that set needs to be uploaded for the whole of that copy to be out there.

I don't have original tapes, unfortunately, just these DVD copies. Email me with an address to send discs to (email is in sig).

I do have VHS tapes of an ABC broadcast somewhere at home, but they're at least 2nd gen and censored, so not as good as any of the copies currently being worked with.

Damn, man, very promising so far! I'm liking the prospect of the composite a lot more now, it seems more tangible. Perhaps I could just mail you Lorang's disc to save myself torrenting a 3rd DVD?
