I agree. But I think the episode up until that point was a little all over the place. having to intercut between the two groups of survivors has given the show less focus, so now that they are all reunited it should help the show tremendously.

I haven't lost faith in the show yet, but when i compare to last year where there were NO bad episodes, its been a little rough this year. Nothing happened in that Jin episode a few weeks back. Mr. Echo is a cool character, but I hate how the tail section people can't give a straight answer when there is no reason for them not to do so. And Michael and Sawyer didnt even ask about their hatch, which they should of since they don't even know about the main hatch back with Jack and Kate (where have they been lately??)

To me the first time I was ever dissappointed with this show was when the showed that the hatch had a front door, that felt like the writers being lazy and pretty much debunked any logic outof the hatch to begin with. Why have a sealed hatch with an elaborate system of mirrors for security if you also have an unguarded door 10ft away?

Either way I think next week will be good.

By the way you are right, arrested development kicks ass, too bad its going to get cancelled again

I know the feeling. the Hurley episode is the only one that has been of the 1st seasons standard. The show use to be character driven and it felt like there was a master plan, now it seems to be niether.

even just on a visual level I don't get the same wow factor that they use to squeeze out of their amazing location

is the starfield for Episode 2. Probably easiest for me if you do it right onto a freeze frame of the starfield since I have no expirence with compositiing and would hate for you to go to all the trouble to do me up a nice crawl only for me to make it look craptastic once composited.



As an unrelated sidenote, I went into ANH and captured the sound fx of the stormtroopers radio "click" when in and out when ever they speak. added it to all the clonetroopers in EP2 and EP3


EDIT: I noticed a typo in my crawl text. Just corrected it. In the second paragraph it said

Meanwhile, PADME AMIDALA
has transfered her mantle of
QUEEN to another caretaker,
returning to CORUSCANT to <<---- deleted the "to"
as the Senator of NABOO.

so now its:

My ROTS edit is done except for some sound tweaks. I actuall went through it last night and duplicated the file then went in and hacked out more stuff. The version I put together last night is 1h 45min long, and is maybe a bit too cut down, it exercises the story thread of anakin's premonition about padme dying in childbirth and his turn to evil is strictly due to his own lust for more power. As a result some good moments in the movie had to be truncated, like the bulk of the opera scene and a few other parts. But I also have the other edit which clocks in at 1h 57m and still contatins the Vader "Nooooooooo"

Niether of my ROTS fan edits use any of the deleted scenes from disc 2 as I didn't find any of them to be partidcularly good. And with all the technical issues I've had trying to get the deleted scenes from AOTC thats kind of a relief. If I had used any of the scenes I would probably use the first Mon motha scene, and MAYBE the Yoda scene, but probably not. the Yoda scene seems pointless and the Mon Motha scene is very dry, and for some reason Bail acts very femine which is odd and distracting. It would be cool to show both these scenes strictly for the their OT connections, but I don't like either quite enough to add them back in.

I'm hoping to have both versions of ROTS burned to dvd this week (I could use the HDD space) and submitted to the contest.

as for my AOTC edit..

I'm trying to suss out a way to redo the opening crawl. I've tried doing it in finalcut but it looks like crap. I have afterffects but no clue how to use it

If I make a new crawl I will delete the scene in palpatine's office at the beginning and just put in the crawl that the chancellor has assigned Obi and Ani to protect Padme while she is on coruscant. If I have to keep the original crawl then that scene has to stay and I have to go back into one or two other scenes and reinsert dialogue about the military creation act and the seperatist movement, since niether of those are refered to in the current edit. The seperatists, count dooku, and the military creation movement are all things that are revealed through Obi-wan's investigation.

Anyone have any suggestions about how to redo the crawl on a mac?

sorry no uploads at the moment, but I'll see what I can put together.

the music I used is the really low key sombre music that plays in the mace yoda scene which follows the tusken slaughter where they hear quigon. The cue of the imperial march that comes in when yoda speaks now follows Anakin saying "I promise. I won't fail again"

Also I tracked in music for all of the geonosis battle today, feels much more compelling and dramatic. Also rearranged the order of the shots to make the battle flow dramatically in a more cohesive way.

thanks man. I got a lot done yesterday. should be all cut together within a few more days. I have to spend the majority of my day cutting together the feature I executive produced this summer. So the fan edit is just a night time project on the side and thus is taking a little longer. But also I want it to be perfect, even last time with the edit there were some parts I thought could be better, and there are few plot points I am trying to smooth out, like I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to eliminate any reference to sifo dyas.

when you redo pearl harbour can you cut out the part where the guys says "oh $#!+" after the bomb lands next to him in the kitchen right before he blows up, and try and axe the entire ending, and maybe use the thin red line music that appeared in the trailer to great effect.

but those are just my suggestions. Very ambitious project. Eager to hear about the results


my aotc redux is coming along amazingly, all cut up to the padme packing scene.

I think I've resolved my technical issues.

Another fan edit I'm going to attempt besides the prequels, LOTR and the matrix sequels, is to take Batman Begins and remove Katie Holmes from it completely. I have a strange suspicion that can be done without disrupting the plot in any way. its more to satisfy a curiousity then anything else.
