Boycott Episode III!
Time
I'll watch the trailers but no spoilers this time around, I was superspoiled for AotC, which was fun in its own way, but this si the last SW and it will help to keep my expectations in check, besides even if the movie totally blows,a t least I'll get the fun of being surprised.

Its cool if other want to read spoliers, but please put a warning if you are going to post one so people like myself can avoid them.

I said that Lucas has confirmed Padme will not die in Episode III.

Just out of curiosity, when/where did he state this. It seems sort of a big spoiler for him to be doling out now.

Anyways, I think if Padme was alive, Vader would find her, that jsut my opinion, Anakin portrayed as highly possessive, especially of her, I doubt he would ever stop searching for her, but we'll see.

As for Leia remembering her mom, so many OT lines have been reinterrpreted by the PT I wouldn't be surprised if this plays out very differently then what people expect. I mean if Padme was on Alderaan why didn't Vader jsut go get her?

The way I could see the memory thing being handled is that either Luke has already been taken away, or he is the second to be born, and Padme is holding Leia, and we get a nice close up of each of them locking eyes, a tear roles down padmes cheek, as long as she didn't share a similar moment with Luke, I could buy that as Leia's memory, epsecially since she has the force.

well Im sure her non death could be handled properly, but it would be harder to make it work IMHO.

Because then we go two movies with out a word about her, I guess assuming she died on alderaan, only to find out that is not the case but she is dead non the less in rotj.

I suppose she could live if there was some indication she was sick or dying.

Anyways, I'm not saying it can;'t be done properly, just that it certainly isn't how I'd handle it.

I think ep3 will open with Padme 9months pregnant. Anakin will have been off fighting in the war for many months so he hasn't been back to naboo in a long time and does not know she is with child(s)

Then he will get taken to the sith temple and seduced to evil never the wiser of the pregnancy.

I figure he and padme will only share one scene in ep3.

But to not show either Padmes death or the birth of the twins is a huge mistake dramatically IMHO

Lucas is Giving up a Great $$$ Maker Here, No?

On one hand I see it as a better money making scheme if they sell the OE seperate of the SE, not only is it twice as many dvds that we have to buy, but for ht eaverage cosnumer who doesn't really distinguish it means the price of the SE can be cheaper.

On the other hand, selling the OE and SE has an inherent problem, at least for Lucas. In my opinion his biggest concern with releasing the OE is that it will outsell the the SE, thus sending a strong message that nobody is buying into this SE malarky

Its just as likely that the SE will outsell the OE, especially if it has all the extra features and better transfer, but I think its not a chance GL is willing to take. I mean imagine the OT OE outsells the SE OT and the PT disks? What would that say? It would basically be cutomers thumbing their nose to GLs whole digital revolution, or at least I think thats how it would be percieved. He talks a good talk, but i think when the chips are down, he knows people aren't buying into digital FX/characters/cameras/projection/SE the way he thought they would, and I think its too much to risk for him to call everyones bluff.

Tough to say, but thats my take on it. Though I do beleive the SE will sell very very well, and if its the one with a disk full of extras, and the OE has no extras the SE will out sell it in all likelyhood

Thats what I like about Peter Jackson's attitude. I'm not one of thsoe PT dissenters who believe GL should just hand the keys to the SW kingdom over to Jackson, but I admire his attitude.

He says that he doesn't consider either the theatrical version or the EE to be the "REAL" version, peopelc an decide for themselves which one they prefer, he said he prefers the shorter version, which I can understand, as movies go its alot tighter and quicker paced, however the EE is a lot more reflective of the book. I own both, and generally with people I recommend the EE over the TV only if they have read the books, otherwise I recommend the other TC.

But iether way its nice to be give the option to chose.

Lucas has officially annouced that Padme will not die in Episode III.

Wha?????!

thats terrible, what could be less dramatic then for her to not die? It makes no sense, isn't her death the ideal catalyst to send Anakin completely over the edge? And if she was alive after that why didn't Vader find her??

Its jsut so dumb to have her death unseen, but then again thats what GL did with Obi-wan and Anakins friend ship, and for the most part the clone wars, so for all we know Anakin could be Vader at the start of ep3.

I liked TPM, though it was flawed, but Aotc was jsut embarrassingly bad in my opinion, its such a huge movie, and yet its not about anything, it has no real story at all. and the editting was so poor in some many places, the script so poorly strucutred and executed. Plus Gl jsut laced in music from TPM rather then getting new music for a lot of spots, IMHO that reduced AOtC to being a high budget fanfilm, which is what it felt like anyways.

Oh well, I don't have high hopes for ep3, I don't need it to be ESB good, I just want it to at least be TPM good, and I jsut hope all the continuity works at the end of the PT endeavor, and they don't change vader, I don't want a new and improved cgi vader, I jsut want a guy in a suit, the same exact suit we see in the oT.

Out of curiousity whats the forum rules on spoilers?

I'm just trying to stay spoiler free for ep3 so I was curious, should I be at all concerned about reading them here, or do people have to give warning?

yeah I've emailed everyoen I know about it, it doesn't help exponentially, but if even half of them forward it to other people, and if even half of those people forward it, etc, hopefully it helps at least a bit.

I think one thing that could help sell the idea to LFL is that the OE OT could be released without a lot of extra features, because the people who are really out to get it want it specifically for the movie, thus LFL could release the dvd with relative easy and at a low cost, which will help tide people over (in their eyes at least) until the big SE OT with tons of extras comes out and all the new added scenes and FX.

AotC benefitted from TPM's dvd coming out shortly before the marketing began for it. But the AotC disk came out so fast after its theatre run that there will be no similar venue to help hype up ep3.

But this would be the perfect vehicle for that, they could tie in the promotion of the last SW movie ever with the historical release of the the original trilogy in its original form.

Roger Ebert is also someone who should be contacted at some point, and has any effort been made to reach the film historian/preservationist who was quoted in that Entertainment weekly article a few weeks back about the OT dvds???
