What do you HATE about the EU?
Time

Legends EU or Current EU?
CGI The Clone Wars was sweet. Managed to watch it in Chronological order and is far better compared to the Prequels. REBELS is decent and I’m all caught up. Except the last two episodes from Season 3 I haven’t watched yet. Too busy with other things. But that’s what I LIKE.
Really hope Mara Jade doesn’t return to current canon. Can’t think of anything else.

Dawwwww look at that cute dog! I bet that movie is good.

Read the Dark Horse comics.

Agent Carter Season 1 & 2 are available on Blu-ray disc from Amazon UK. Same goes for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 3, Daredevil Season 1 and Jessica Jones Season 1.
Anyone who still buys these shows or the feature films on DVD are stupidly supoorting an archaic format.

Idea & Info: Highlander (1985) US theatrical cut, anyone?
Time

I too own the Immortal Edition DVD release. The one with the Queen sampler CD. Also the Studio Canal UK BD but the initial release and the USA Anniversary Restored release. So I wouldn’t mind a custom BD, not DVD, for the US Theatrical Cut. (I suggest using the restored BD for the image.)

Last night I was tinkering around with Photoshop, and came up with this piece of work.  I altered a still from the official DVD, and matched it up with a still from the HD trailer (which has the original color timing).  The result was the image in the middle.  With some patience and attention to detail, a fairly accurate restoration could be done from the existing transfer.

This looks promising. I could rip the blu-ray and do an adjustment in a professional color grading program like DaVinci Resolve to try to restore the movie to what I remember.

Yes please. Especially since Blu-ray disc > DVD. Why should we still work in inferior resolutions when HD resolutions are the norm now? Especially from Blu-ray disc, even thouhg several versions would be best from other countries. YMMV.
Would love to see this on a BD25 with minimalistic menus.

This release is confirmed to have the corrected audio AND video (the nightfilter issue), and the addition of the original mono track.

All I want is the US Theatrical Cut and not the bonus disc because as I mentioned I have the AU BD. Since I own the USA and AU BD which has three cuts, why should I get the USA DVD for the Theatrical Cut when I could have a custom BD50 instead? I don’t need a case either or coverart, just the disc since multi-disc cases exist.
If someone could PM me the link or whichever to Usenet that’d be fine.

Info: Back to the Future - without DNR & EE

Let’s keep in mind that Netflix broadcasts in a bitrate that is approximately 3 to 5 mbps which is freaking low compared to the 25 mps you get on a Blu-ray. Then you just can’t download Netflix flux so that means capture and capture = dropped frames…

So, maybe a BD9/AVCHD? Best if someone had a fiber optic connection.

The "Is it in HD somewhere because I can't find it" thread.
Time

What about titles shown through Comcast On Demand HD? My friend has it and we watched COLORS (Already on Blu-ray by Second Sight without Subtitles), and Big Top Pee Wee in HD a couple months ago.
Many titles are OAR from there and quite decent quality. It’s all on rotation though. Should be 1080i so there’s bound to be caps of them. Would custom BD25s be possible for the majority of those titles in HD unavailable anywhere else on the planet?

Info Wanted: Psycho - HDTV broadcast vs 50th anniversary Blu-ray (comparison)
Time

Whenever doing HDTV captures and making BD25s of them, ALWAYS leave the film grain untouched! No DNR or EE, thanks. Pity the USA Blu-ray disc I own has DVNR on the image, even though I got it with the Alfred Hitchcock: Masterpiece Collection released by Universal.
Why do fan restorers sometimes consider film grain to be bad while working with HD content? Leave it as is.

LDDb lists the Criterion LD release as 2.45:1 (the later MGM releases list as 2.35:1).
Blu-ray.com lists the Blu-ray as 2.41:1 and the original AR as 2.55:1.

Bit confusing. Since I already own the Blu-ray, the Criterion LD would be perfect for a LD-to-DVD conversion. Hopefully DVD9, for quality, and I’d put it with the Blu-ray. If anyone already has though.

Why not use the most current Blu-ray release for this edit? Why use the inferior DVD?

Because to get some of the deleted footage in the film it can only be found in either 480p or 240p. Be glad that the 240p footage is going to be comparable to the 720 x 576 footage.

I also don’t have a very powerful computer and don’t want to spend money on a new one to do this. I want to extend the film with the deleted scenes and I can not do that in HD so I am not doing it in HD and going to make a SD extended cut.

It’s probably possible to do but I do not know how to upscale something over 4 times the resolution to make it comparable. It’s not about pixels put it that way. And also the sound mix on pioneer dvd is better than Blu Ray, the Blu ray sounds heavily subdued compared to the OLD Pioneer mix because it gradually get’s watered down as it goes through successive releases when additional mixing is done on it especially to create 7.1 mix.

In a nutshell the new Blu-ray does not sound as good as it should and it also don’t look like I remember it. So I am making a new Special edition.

Something that has also become of interest to myself personally is when deleted footage from films ends up in other media or TV series or even other films. And Stargate happens to be one of those.

^ This is how I remember the wormhole and it’s exactly this color I want it to be.

Why not have it look as it should have as per original cinematic release? Too bad the deleted scenes are in such poor resolution.

This would be great to put in with the Blu-ray release which I’d also have the Director’s Edition DVDs included. Grabbed the .torrent file from MySpleen.

When I cap my VHS I will pm a mod about the upload but since it is OOP AND not in the release chute anytime soon for Bluray, I don’t see an issue uploading it once I’m ready to.

All I’d need to do then is just buy more Multi-Disc cases. Because I’d also have the OST CD release with it too. So far it’d be a grand total of 4-5 discs? Disc 1 - TMP Blu from Paramount, Disc 2 & 3 - TMP Director’s Edition DVD release, Disc 4 - TMP (Special Longer Version) Widescreen Custom DVD, and Disc 5 - OST CD.
For the VHS-to-DVD of the Special Longer Version, I’m expecting a DVD-DL. But it’d be best if it were the LD, depending on whichever captures in higher quality.
