Sky Captain and the World of tomorrow!!! Seen the Trailer?!?
Time
Have you heard the RIAA an Downhill Battle thing? They accused them for illegal acquisition of people's names etc. and claim RIAA should give back the money taken away. I haven't read about it, my friend just dropped me a line...

And I agree about the trailer policy - why to close the way of free propagation of their own promotional campaign? This could save them some bandwidth etc.

Oh well... too complicated thing for us, mere commoners... the big fish up there know better... like the publisher of that flight sim I play, which does not want to release new low-cost add-ons for the game that could be used to milk the fans and squeeze the last buck out of the game engine that is readily available... no, they prefer high-cost investments only, even if it means risk.

Who Have You Met?
Time
No such luck for me, I guess I don't work as a magnet for stars... maybe because I don't seek them...

Out of celebrities that zoomed past my very own eyes I can only mention Pope John Paul II (I was a bystander on a sidewalk and his Papa-Mobile passed close to me) and Polish actor Jerzy Kryszak (one of my fav actors and THE best standing comedian I know, he frequently gaves performances on HBO Poland), who gave me his autograph, twice. The second encounter lasted longer - as I left the theatre there was a traffic jam, thanks to which I had to walk next to his Jeep - he spotted me, honked and waved to me and my folks
I've repaid the favour by updating his entry in the IMDb.

...

Well, I do have powerful friends - you guys must remember my old photo, right?

I'm glad to see that you share my point of view.

What's the latest Premiere's version - 7 ? I need to "test" it
Even though I was laughed up for playing in video editing on a PC, instead of Mac... sc**w them, that was 2 years ago...

UPDATE: I've broken my headphones on the New Year's Eve (no jokes needed here, I was sober) and my machine is soundless now as my speakers need fixing, too

It's a mystery to me.... Were Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon aware Padme was actually Queen Amidala in Episode I?
Time
The answer is "banana".

OK - how much am I gonna get for voting on the bearded guy?

[serious]At least Jinn should have known, since he's a Jedi Master and all... after all, he saw through the Trade Fed. scheme, so such simple cover up shouldn't poise too much difficulties to him.

He might have chosen to "play her game" in order to avoid trouble - as we see in the end, having a doppleganger can be useful.

Does this apply to the movie? I don't know, I haven't seen Episode I for some time, even thought it was on TV yesterday...[/serious]

And how many doubles had this ...err... captured guy?? You know, what's-his-name... Santa or Saddam... whatever... they look so similar with beards.

Comparison - PCs vs Macs:

PC - Females:
* wow, just look at this equipment! and doesn't that radiator look really big? and the transparent menu!
* there's always something about them, either Y2K or Micro$oft anti-monopoly thing...
* they're on the posters, on the web... everywhere!
* men love them
* they cost you lots of money
* and want something new all the time, coz "the old stuff is so yesterday"
* when you buy it, it turns out you have to buy a matching set...
* ...and even then it's not guaranteed that everything will be running smoothly
* ...coz they have theit own ways...

Mac - Males
* nothing special really, they're out there somewhere, doing their job
* they work and don't complain
* they don't get old so quickly
* no whiz-bangs, but when it takes to complete the task, they will do
* stable system - you know exactly what they want and can easily control them
* they don't change the OS 5 times a day - once you install it, it's there

.... or is it just me?

Dude, my Dad is as old as Curtiss P-40 'Warhawk'

Looks like Sky Captain's bird, right?

...and since you mentioned Google - I gave you the plane type (P.6) so you could try to find it.

Anyway here's the answer:

The trophy - White Eagle - went to capt. B.Orlinski flying his PZL P.6, whose twin, P.7, entered serial production and became a workhorse Polish fighter plane in mid-30s. Apart from the competition part there was also a daily air show - Orlinski aerobatics won him applause of the crowd and and the journalists of "New York Herald Tribune", "The New York Times" etc.

Aahh... good old times... nowadays if you're gonna splash your MiG on Le Bourget airfield you can eject in the last moment and land safely... Orlinski's old antics from 30s included diving at max speed and pulling up just 10 ft above the ground - there was no room for error
