I think if I were to make a movie, I think I’d to make it with old technology. Make it exactly the same way they did in the 30’s, 40’s, or 50’s. I don’t know it would be in glorious black and white or three-strip technicolor(and I don’t mean a digital re-creation, I mean the real thing). I wouldn’t want to use any newer technologies, or techniques. I would want it to be as old fashion as possible.

I too like to spend unnecessarily excessive amounts of money and do things as inconveniently as possible to get similar results.

From every clip I’ve seen the remake of Ghostbusters just doesn’t look like it is my humor style. Extremely loud and a lot of rambling dialogue. I haven’t seen it, so I can’t judge it on quality, but I’ve seen several parts of it and it just isn’t funny at all to me.

It’s so awful, and so long.

But you don’t need a 100" screen to see a difference, I’d say anything from 50" upwards is going to treat your eyes to very obvious, unambiguous next level visuals when compared to 1080p.

For the HDR yes. As far as actually being able to see a difference in fine detail from 4k on a 50 inch at, I would say that’s very unlikely.

Sure! If you have a 100 inch screen in your house. 😛

With a projector this can actually be cheaper than you think. I have a 120 inch screen and everything together it probably cost about $800, and that’s even including the surround system I got to go with it.

Granted I got a bit lucky with the projector finding a Chinese knockoff for around $400. But the only thing that seems “cheap” about the presentation is it’s interface, it’s gui is quite tacky, but I don’t have to use it much and I’d consider it a well worthy trade off for saving 300 or more bucks on it.

The real trick is having the perfect room for it, so I was lucky there as well.

It also sadly isn’t 4k, but it’s 1080P looks gorgeous enough for me.

I guess that makes this post completely off topic, but just wanted to chime in and say having a huge screen isn’t as insurmountable as some think. Especially if 1080P is good enough for you. A TV that size would be unspeakably expensive.

Knock it off.

Why do you keep telling mfm to “knock it off” when he’s making valid points about your posts?

In your opinion.

Also in my opinion: telling someone to “knock it off” when they’re arguing a point rather than making personal attacks is childish.

You have little room to talk when it comes to being childish.

And you do?

Not that I do either.

We can all be childish. Especially neglify.

Well it’s not so much that I feel it’s “my business” and that I shouldn’t share it with you guys, I’m really just exhausted from talking about it with people in my personal life. (Usually without the suicidal overtones, but last nights episode was a bit of an exception. When it first happened I felt that way every day when it first happened, but while I’m still usually massively depressed I don’t usually go on and on about killing myself like i did several months ago and nights like that get fewer. So I guess that’s at least good even though I’m still not okay)

It’ll be okay I just get like that sometimes.

I would like to bitch about how when you watch digital movies from say Amazon the audio is presented in a half assed 2.0 mix down that isn’t even slightly optimized. It sounds like they literally just mixed all the channels together and left it. I watched last jedi last night and the sound was horrible. No presence, dull, no bottom, no surround presence when played in Pro Logic. I’m not arguing that 2.0 surround is better than 5.1, but if you’re going to present it in 2.0 you could at least down mix it properly as that would not only give it surround but also fix the problem of no bottom and no presence due to the way it would mix everything. The laser disc mixes for the original trilogy sound better, why? Because they were down mixed from 4/6 channel sources but with actual care put in to a 2.0 result. This can be achieved automatically with free software ffs. Even if you are actually listening with last 2.0 speakers it would still sound better so I don’t see why they can’t take the minimal effort to do so. Even if not a ton of people use up mixing surround its not like it would hurt the experience for anyone else, it would likely make it sound better.

My close friends know but there’s nothing anybody can do to help. You guys can relax though I would never kill myself after telling everybody or especially anybody that I wanted to. I mean it and I do want to and sometimes wish I had a way and sometimes have to vent it, but if I were to do it I would do it silently and unexpectedly. For the simple reason that otherwise whoever I was talking to would blame themselves or feel guilty for not being able to stop me and I would never want anyone to feel like it’s their fault or that they didn’t do enough.
