It's like being a little kid and seeing the film for the first time again.  You will put Lucasfilm (or disney if you prefer) to shame for this!

That would be very interesting, but I'm not sure if it could be done.  The atmosphere is just so great in that movie that I feel like I have to save the overall experience SOMEHOW...

The exorcist is so good it's absurd.  Even if you take out the whole horror aspect and have it not be demon possession and have it just be a mental illness as the doctors believe it would STILL be a good movie.  Epic win that will never be duplicated.

You don't like dracula?  I thought he was pretty well done, nice and eerie without (to me) seeming forced.  Any particular specific complaints you'd like me to address?  I really really love the atmosphere and overall feeling of this movie, it just has some flaws.  It has a rating of 23% on rotten tomatoes, which I don't think it deserves NEARLY that low of a score.

On an almost related note, star trek nemesis has an abysmal score as well.  I actually really like that film, with some minor quibbles.

Watched only because I am into psychedelics and psychedelic imagery.  On the imagery front it was pretty nice.  On the everything else front it was pretty terrible.

Well, I AM working on it, really.  It's just that nobody really seemed to be that interested in it so I stopped posting about it.  (This is NOT a complaint or a request for attention in anyway.  With other big projects going on I completely understand it being taken to the sidelines, no biggie)

But it is being done.  When I have something significant to post about it I will.

Anyway...

Would anybody be interested in me doing an edit of Van Helsing? I’ve always thought it was a half decent movie, and had the potential to be a good movie.  It just seems to me to be a little bloated and has a couple of lame moments/ideas.  Maybe a trimmed down version with some of the offending parts removed would be more enjoyable.  I mainly like the atmosphere in this movie, and would like to remove that moments that betray this atmosphere.

If I did it it wouldn't include any of the rotoscoping or video changes, it would just be the phantom 'cut'.  And I don't think the phantom edit would be worth doing, because as others have pointed out the audio has clicks and pops at cut points, and if I was going to redo the audio track I may as well just do it from scratch and make my own cut.  (not that that's ruled out or anything)

What would REALLY be interesting is an HD version of slumberlands cut I think.  But there are a couple audio cuts there too.

But what I may be doing is an HD restoration of the 'cut' of attack of the phantom.  It's audio track is flawless so I would just sync HD video to the old audio.

Been playing donkey kong 64 with an emulator... MAN that game is big.  It'll take me a year to get everything!

I'm not saying everything you yourself do has to be in the bible.  I'm saying you can't tell OTHERS how to live their lives based on something you (or someone) made up.

 Celibacy in the Catholic Church is only a discipline that allows priests to focus all their attention on God and their parish. Also, in my Church, the Bible isn't considered the highest authority. Priests in other rites of the Roman Catholic Church can be married when they are ordained, and this is possible for converts to the Catholic Church as well. In my religion it doesn't matter if it doesn't say something in the Bible. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that everything must be based on Scripture so I don't believe that.

 My only problem with that idea is that if it's not in the bible, it's something a person made up.  Sure, many believe that the entire bible is made up by a person.  But I, and many don't believe that.  I'm sure you don't believe that either.  So my problem is that if it isn't from the bible, you're putting your trust in something somebody came up with, not in God.

(PS. The bible talks about a time when all continents on the earth were together as one.  the idea of pangea.  It's in the bible.  Also that the earth is round.  Well they didn't have globes back then, it's not like they could just look at the landforms and say "Hey, they fit together like a puzzle.  Teehee." So how did they know? Hmm...")

But anyway.  As long as things are taken as 'advice', I have no problem with that.  What I have problems with is when humans say something HAS to be that way.  Something MUST be that way, or it's wrong.  What is absolutely right or wrong we don't have the authority to dictate.  Advice on what we should do to better live our lives is different, of course.  But when you absolutely FORBID somebody to have a mate in order to fit into a (usually man-made) position with no basis in scripture, well I disagree.

I personally am against it as an act, but I do not judge people who are homosexuals.  I've never had any homosexual friends, but I could be friends with a homosexual.  I think it is wrong, however, that is just my opinion, and I don't judge people who have a different opinion.  So even if I may not like the fact that a person IS gay, that doesn't mean I think they are a bad person or that I cannot associate with them.  It's just what I think, but I accept that others don't feel that way, and that is fine.

I don't know... all the subtlety to this is going over my head.

On a side note, is it my imagination or are there two threads about this with the same title? Maybe a browser malfunction.  Maybe I'm going crazy.  Maybe I ate some bad mushrooms.  Maybe I'll grow really big for doing so and stomp turtles and what I think are goombas.  Maybe I'll pick up a leaf and be able to fly.  Ahh, japanese games about italian plumbers voiced by old mexicans.  (seriously, for Super Mario 64, the voice was Tino Martinet who was I believe in his 80's).  Could I be any more off topic?  Yes.
