Mods please delete this thread. I am sorry for attacking Hotrod.

Can we not let another thread become Hotrod vs the world?  Let it go! After the first couple posts he made he seems to have now heeded your wishes to no longer make dirty posts in this thread (after some divine intervention... but nevertheless), so isn't continueing to talk about him counterproductive?  Eat a sandwich, you'll feel better.

Info Wanted: Your 'go to' versions of the PT
Time

Plus it all depends on your perspectives of the films.

If you *like* the films as a whole but don't love them, as in you enjoy them but there are things about them that annoy you, HAL's is the way to go.  They don't gut the films or make them into different experiences, but they mold what's already there into a much tighter more enjoyable film.  (Overall his are my favorites, although I would cut just a couple more things)

If you think the films aren't very good but you don't really know why, say you don't really put your finger on what it is you don't like about them, I would say L8tr is the way to go.  He doesn't change major story arcs, but he does a bit more "streamlining" than HAL's do, and removes more.

If you don't like the films very much but like certain moments of them, Q2 is the way to go.  He cuts the most and leaves only the bare bones.  The result is a no bullshit fast paced ride, that is very enjoyable but at times feels like it's missing something.

If you just hate the films and want alternative story's, there are other options but I'm not too well versed in the more radical edits.

Possessed Return of the Jedi-* Resurrected!!*

Also.  I guess this doesn't *Exactly* have to do with my ROTJ edit, but I plan on doing the whole saga and releasing 1080P AVCHD's of all the films.  (bd25's as well if people think the 8 gb avchd's don't look good enough...)

I'm only posting about it here because it's not yet to the point where starting it's own thread would be worthwhile.

The prequel trilogy edit's will be somewhat conservative possibly spilling over into the moderate category.  Mostly dialogue trims, cleaning up the pace.  For Phantom Menace  the jar jar being an outcast/banished from gungan city subplot will be removed.  He will tag along with the jedi because of qui gon saving his life as he said.  The gungans and naboo being on bad terms will be removed.  Amidala will ask Jar Jar for his help as usual, but he will be assumed to have gathered the gungan army off-camera.  (since he is not believed to be an outcast this could seem more believable).

A new hope will mostly just be a hybrid of the blu ray and harmy's despecialized edition (assuming I can get his permission of course).

ESB will be mostly that too, with some other small ideas and fixes.  (adjusting contrast of scenes which involve a lightsaber to restore the white cores.  Also another tweak I plan on doing is in the shot of luke hanging underneath the imperial walker he bombs have the lighting darkened significantly, boosting the contrast when he opens his lightsaber for the split second so that it has a white core but everything else still seems dark)

And ROTJ is being worked on now.

For the record, I don't have a huge problem with the softening of vader's character in ROTJ.  To me, it makes sense that meeting his son would soften him up a bit.

The Prequel Radical Redux Ideas Thread
Time

I had an idea for phantom menace that I haven't seen done yet exactly the way I was thinking.  It isn't really very radical it's just an omision.  I've seen edits that cut out part of these ideas but not completely,  and in my opinion it only works if the idea is totally there or totally removed.

The whole Jar-Jar being banished and then the gungans fighting with the naboo alliance thing.  What if we skip the whole underwater gungan city thing.  Remove the whole gungan and naboo not getting along idea.  Have it play it so that jar jar is tagging along because qui gon saved his life as he says.  But no mention of jar jar being on bad terms with other gungans.  Then later have the queen ask jar jar for his help, but not show the details of her asking what she needs him to do, then later (hopefully soon as having alot of time pass will make this seem unclear) you see the gungan army gathering.

I think this would work because without Jar Jar being on bad terms with the other gungans and without the gungans having animosity with the naboo, there is no longer any need to have a dramatic "coming together" and accepting of both jar jar and the naboo.  If everything is already assumed to be fine with them, it's believable that Jar is able to gather the gungans all off camera.

I've seen edits that do part of this.  But in my opinion only doing half of that makes it more confusing.  I think the best way to handle it is to skip all the way over the whole subplot and just have it be assumed that jar jar gathers the gungans off camera.

It may seem vague, but other movies have done things similar without being questioned.

Star Wars Episode II: The Approaching Storm (Released)
Time

Is anybody else having trouble watching the BD25 version of this?  I was able to get EP1 BD25 from hal working fine.  (loved it btw.  I would have personally cut a bit more jar jar, but I will get to that after I finish my return of the jedi edit.  :) )

But I downloaded all the parts to the bd25 version, and even combined them successfully into a single zip to be extracted.  But it won't extract, says the mkv has an "unsupported compression format".  with 7 zip.  If I try winzip it says "Unable to find local headers".  I don't know what I could have done wrong, as I did the same thing I did for EP1 and all other edits and it worked fine for those.  Anybody else experience this?  I watch on a 65 inch TV and would really prefer to watch in 1080P as opposed to 720.

I want to apologize to everybody that's been waiting on this edit for so long.  Due to issues in my personal life I've found it difficult to work on it.  I'll work on it for a few minutes then exclaim to myself "well who the hell cares anyway" then shut it down for weeks.

The storm clouds are starting to clear, very slightly, so hopefully progress can be made.

I sincerely believe this edit has a lot of potential.  It will have only minor changes, but the way that they are being executed and some of the dialogue improvements haven't been done yet and I'm excited about it.

If you need to B*tch about something... this is the place

Okay, so they aren't "techincally" whores by the strict definition of the word.  That was so far from being the point.  And there wasn't even really a point to begin with, I was just venting about it.  Maybe bingo would feel better if I edited all the posts and changed the word "whores" to "hussies". Which means an immoral woman.  That fits better anyway.

And actually I don't remember ever calling my mother a whore, but I'll take your word for it that I did at some point because I'm too lazy to go back and look.

But fine.  I'll admit it.  My former friend isn't a whore.  Hussie fits better, since it means more closely what people usually mean when they say whore.  Feel better?
