Alterations Cover

My first album from back in 2014, Alterations. As an album, it is very different than the sound I’ve developed today. Many of the traits from this album remain in my sound at present, blistering guitars, thrashy rhythm guitars, glittery leads, and a symphonic/synthfonic layer over the top of it. Although the precedent for the “instrumental concept albums” I would later create that are meant to tell a story through vibe and tone is set here, this is not the emotional and deep sounding anthems that would come later. Although the track listing was constructed with a consistent tone and the tracks ordered with momentum in mind, it was much simpler in design than later albums. In style it is much faster and harsher than later albums, it is very fast at times and quite metallic. It’s harsh and intense sounding, with little in the way of the somber attitude and storytelling of later albums. That’s not to say this album isn’t a good listen. It’s many of my fans favorite album to this day and isn’t to be ignored. It’s hard hitting, punchy, direct, it gets in your face and has no apologies.

Recording this album has alot of fond memories. The recording methods were very primitive, and the sound quality isn’t as good as my newest album, but it is better than the sound quality on the last couple before it for some reason. It has a bit of a brittle sound to the guitars, and some of the guitars weren’t recorded well and have sort of a “clipped” sound. But it overall still sounds pretty good on a good sound system with firm bass and a good foundation. Perhaps a slight too much treble in the master but that is easy to fix on any stereo system.

Lossless FLAC album, complete with artwork. http://www.filehosting.org/file/details/710608/Jacob Martin - Alterations.zip

Going to start indexing the first post with the albums also. Ignore the nonsense on the first couple pages…

On a random note, I’m actually considering spending my tax return next year just buying the rights to sell all these songs in my cover versions. It’s not really very expensive but when you consider that I’ve done probably 100 songs it adds up. But not only would that allow me to advertise more but then I could make some of my production costs back. But this is several months in the future.

I’m working on getting my first album uploaded. I’ve decided to put them up here in chronological order so that people can see the evolution and progression.

For right now I’m uploading lossless FLAC versions, with disc and cover art and everything. I may also upload a lossy compressed mp3 version if there’s enough demand for it, but I would imagine most people would possess the ability to make it for themselves if they need it.

^ Quality bitching. Well done. 😃

Too bad it’s stolen. 😕

Ah, cinemassacre. Come for the angry video Game nerd, stay for the James and Mike Monday’s.

I didn’t even realize the video was from this channel (because like always with this place I just clicked it to get the title of the video and perceive why it was posted) then just now my roku autoplayed it because I was watching their other stuff like I do very regularly.

Kind of a big confidence to be honest. Accidentally but organically led into an old video that just happened to be posted today.

I agree that the cuts in and of themselves are all very smooth, I just feel that they move too fast as films. I’ve not seen the film unedited in 10 years or so I’d say.

Re:octorox. Basically a hybrid of q2, Hal, and l8wrtr with a few original edits. They move brisk but aren’t too fast. Mainly conservative as far as plot structure is concerned. Keeps original names. Episode 2 has an original music montage for Anakin and padme falling in love to replace dialogue and I think it works pretty well. No ep 3 yet. Only real complaint is there are one or two things in each that were cut that didn’t hurt anything being in there that I would have left just to relax the pace a tad and the video quality, while pretty good, could be slightly better. The highest video quality versions clock in around 17 gb, I think fluffing it out to around 19 or 20 could have been beneficial, especially since this is likely at least a 3rd generation re encode for much of it seeing as it uses hals video for much of the base since it was slightly regraded and was probably reencoded again from that unless he used an editor with smart rendering. Don’t get me wrong though it still looks very good.

Q2’s Fall of the Jedi Trilogy fanedits.

  • “Chosen One” nonsense is removed;
  • Droid anachronisms are removed (in fact, the droids themselves are almost entirely cut);
  • Anakin’s fate at the end of Episode III is edited, leaving ESB revelation intact;
  • Padme’s fate at the end of Episode III is altered, leaving Luke’s ROTJ revelation intact and allowing his conversation with Leia on Endor to make more sense;
  • Anakin is far less whiny;
  • Obi-Wan is far less argumentative;
  • Anakin and Padme don’t fight their feelings;
  • VERY little dialogue and antics from Jar Jar;

…and that’s off the top of my head.

Would agree but they move too fast. Feels too much like an “edit”. Unfortunately you have to keep in some things that suck to keep the pace even. I think Hal or octorox are the best as far as removing as much crap while still feeling like a complete film.
