The holidays really bring out the asshole in customers.

Yeah I mean I honestly don’t recommend people watch star wars unless they are watching it with me. I’m not gonna tell them to watch the awful blu Ray versions. And I’m also, unless they are particularly nerdy (not being used as an insult), not going to say “yeah watch it but here only watch this version I downloaded and burned for you”. I will sometimes if having a movie night at my house will watch it amd I just put on a custom “semi special” edition I cooked up myself and not say anything about it.

(I actually plan on sharing it publicly at some point because it has features no other version has in HD such as re rotosxoped lightsaber and blaster bolts courtesy of telecine7 also fixed the gamma to get rid of the ridiculously dark look and did a base color adjustment that isn’t too in depth or even close to being the theatrical colors but it gets rid of the magenta skin tone and basically just makes the 2011 timing more pleasant to look at)

Why waiting that long by the way ? I understand that making a full bluray with menu and features takes time, but if the fanedit already exists in high quality I fail to understand why a mkv of the ucompressed version of the edit is postoned to next summer.

I think he’s requesting a second MKV be released that matches the bit rate you plan to use on the Bluray.

Otherwise, he’s requesting what we’re all secretly craving, a lossless 10-bit x265 encoded mkv that is an exact representation of what’s on your computer as a finished project, complete with the audio in LPCM. Then everyone can customize/reencode the file on their computer on their own time to fit their target device or media.

I spent years trying to convince myself that the prequels could be fixed or saved by fanedits. Eventually I gave up.

And sure, they can be improved, but that’s a very low bar.

I happen to disagree. Sure they will never reach out the level of the Anh or Esb but at least they can be worth watching.

I don’t see why there’s anything wrong with that, especially considering the “sigh” only posts are essentially the same as image only posts as they add nothing to the conversation at hand and can cause further confusion (something that tends to happen a lot around here).

A better transfer from a better source would already make it superior. If the colors etc are bad that’s easier to fix than all the other stuff harmy has had to do.
