This sounds like a really interesting project, especially if you are filming extra scenes!

This edit is going to be amazing! I’m really looking forward to seeing this!
Any news on when this edit will be available?
Most of all the effects and editing changes are now completed.
Pretty much all that’s left is the lasers/Lightsabers.
after that’s done it’ll take me about 2 weeks to do the audio, and then the edit will be done! so hopefully this edit will come out before 2023!
It’s looking good!
That looks great! 😃
Wow! Both DSG’s and Sky’s efforts here look amazing!
DSG:
Your version of the Alderaan explosion looks fantastic!
I watched this edit, and have to say that I enjoyed it; the exclusion of the slave storyline for Anakin was an interesting editing choice that I’ve not seen done before.
Also, the VFX work that you did looks fantastic! The lights you added to the exterior planet shots of Tatooine and Naboo look like they were always meant to be there haha! Other VFX work such as the removal of the power cable going to the Queen’s gown, as well as removing Threepio entirely all look fantastic!
Your list of alterations sounds quite unique!
One question though:
“When the hologram appears, Boba Fett points his blaster at it.”
Why would Fett (or any other character) point their blaster at a hologram? Holograms are not living, breathing entities, and should pose no threat to anyone inside Jabba’s Palace.
Aside from that, I’d also love to see some preview clips, as the VFX changes you’re wanting to do are very interesting!

This is looking like an amazing project! 😃
One quick question: I see you added turbines to the landspeeder’s engines. I thought that the original vehicle had a mesh grille there, not turbines?
Are the turbines your own unique addition?
This looks fantastic! 😃

The problem with the modshop scene as a whole was the massive, unfixable continuity error when they filmed it. This scene takes place in the middle of the night, supposedly right after we see Boba walk up to her in the Mandalorian episode. However, in that same Mandalorian episode, Din comes across Fennec’s body in the morning-afternoon when the suns are bright and shining! So the timeline presented to the viewer is that either Boba waited over 24 hours until the following night to heal Fennec, leaving us with massive questions about why Boba waited so long & how Fennec survived that wound for over a full day bleeding out and cooking in the suns, or that Boba took her to the shop the same night and then placed her still unconscious body back in the sand during the daytime for Din to find in order to trick him…? Neither of those options make sense when you watch a chronological edit, and I truly think the director meant to film that scene as if it happened the same night of the original battle, but forgot about the scene in the Mandalorian where Din finds her body in the daytime.
Hey mate,
Can I make a suggestion? This continuity error could be fixed by changing the daytime scene into a night time scene, or vice-versa depending upon what you want to do. There are many presets available in editing software that allows you to change morning scenes to early evening, or even night time scenes.
This might solve it for you!
This project sounds really interesting, and I’m looking forward to seeing your edit! I have only watched the first season of The Bad Batch once, but had little interest in watching it again due to the repetitive parts you mentioned earlier (“No, it’s too dangerous”. “Please, Hunta.” “Fine.”), as well as the silly stuff with Omega, where the show becomes a Disney children’s program.
I had wondered about the inclusion of the footage from TCW in an edit of TBB; it doesn’t seem that it would work very well though, once you remove the content with the Jedi.
For anyone interested, this video press kit has some great footage, including interviews with George Lucas!
This restoration looks fantastic!!
I just rendered my first full workprint with the new source video files, and oh boy. Even at 1080p it’s a huge difference.
What is your new video source file? Sorry if I missed an earlier post on this! Is it a higher-quality video file?
Your V2 already looks fantastic!
Oh I’m not complaining about the edit at all! I apologise to Spence if it seemed that way; I will be doing a much shorter sequence for my own edit.
I mean, you could always make your own edit that removes more of the chase if you want, my dude.
Please don’t misunderstand – I mean no disrespect! I really do think that your V2 is a great edit! I apologise if it sounded like a complaint – that’s not what I meant at all!!
I was only thinking in terms of pacing; it could be cut so that after Flea says “You!”, Leia is instantly kidnapped: the bag / sack gets put over her head, thereby eliminating the ridiculous-looking “chase” through the forest, where the adult actors were clearly running slowly.
There’s only three shots from that scene in the edit, you still find that to be too much?
The small-file version of V2 I downloaded has most of the chase sequence intact, lasting around 50 seconds. Does the large-file version truncate that sequence?
She runs away from them for a couple of shots, then sees the guard and yells to him, guard gets shot, and then they catch her. It’s about as short as that scene can get while still existing. I’m not really sure what else you think could be removed from it?

I watched V1, and now V2.
V2 is really great, and I enjoyed it much more than V1!
The only odd thing I found was the inclusion of the forest chase sequence on Alderaan. It looks so comical and out of place.
Aside from that, it’s a great edit!
It’s definitely possible to cut it in a way that removes the major problem with the ending of this episode. It can be edited to re-arrange the sequence of the duel, whereby the end is actually Obi-Wan underneath the pile of rocks, and Vader then walks off, leaving Obi-Wan for dead.
I’ll be doing that for my edit!
How did you address Vader staying alive after Ben has him dead to rights? It’d feel weird if boththis edit & RotS end roughly the same way.
I don’t think there’s anything you can really do in a fan edit to change that, short of reshooting the scene.
The Qui-Gon Jinn deepfake would be de-aging him in the last scene of the series. I also plan on de-aging Obi-Wan in the flashback, since people have already fixed Anakin’s appearance.
That sounds great too!
With exporting your projects, I’ve not used Premier (I use and older version of Power Director), so I don’t know how your system works, however most codecs all serve the same purpose. What editing software systems do is to encode the file and place it into a container (such as MKV, MP4 etc.).
As for which type works best, it depends upon what level of quality you’re after. You can generate a file that is 50GB in size, or that same video can be produced as a 3GB file – the choice is yours!
As for recreating a pan, I have found that finding information on this is extremely rare…It took me quite a while to get details on how to do this in Power Director.
Sorry I couldn’t be of more help!
I hope that your edits are going well!
I liked it, I just don’t know how you can make to show that Vader and Obi-Wan travelled to another place in Jabiim to have a duel. But I think it’s a good concept.
Thanks mate! I was thinking about that today, while watching Anjohan’s edit. I think that one way of doing it is to restructure some of the sequences on Jabiim to accommodate these changes; once Obi-Wan escapes from the Stormtroopers after surrendering, and runs down a tunnel, the following happens:
Vader “Prepare my ship”, followed by shots of Vader’s shuttle. Sequences of Obi-Wan speaking with Haja, Roken and Leia, then Vader arrives on the planet. He destroys one starship, the other ship departs, he duels with Reva, she’s left for dead, then Vader walks away.
Insert a transition wipe.
As Vader’s shuttle is flying towards the planet, you can see that it’s becoming dark; this works well for a reasonable passage of time to have elapsed – so that Obi-Wan is outside of the facility, and Vader has had time to find him.
This would require the removal of Vader’s shuttle landing, as well as painting out the stationary shuttle in the background.
