Return of the Jedi Renewed (released)
Time

I echo what cOrpze wrote; a lot of the edit had some good parts, however a lot of it seemed a bit off and unfinished too. Various parts of the film that were truncated or cut didn’t have smooth audio or video cuts, and were quite noticeably cut.
Endor now looks far too yellow, and the scale and perspective of the re-done Death Star and Endor shots look incorrect. I could go on, however I think that cOrpze covered the other noticeable things in the edit.

Using non-ROTJ music seems out of place, and many editing choices seemed to be borne out of a subjective dislike of the film and story, rather than making cuts in order to improve the film. The story is the most important part; removing things simply out of disliking them (such as removing Ewoks, Obi-Wan’s “point of view” line, and most of the Jabba’s Palace sequence etc) detracts from the overall story, and breaks the flow of the film.

To each his own; it’s your edit, so you can do things however you wish!

Will you eventually provide a higher quality version? The artifacts from the video compression are pretty clear and distracting.

Something seems off with the overall sound mix. I have a 7.2.2 system and no matter what I do with the receiver the audio that should be on the center channel comes out from other speakers. It also suffers from heavy compression.

i made the 5.1 channels into 6 mono channels which seems like the best option. even pixeljoker does it this way. i exported it as 5.1 so i should be fine i guess. it sounds pretty okay to me.

I also found the artifacts a bit distracting too…Also, I played it through both my laptop and TV, and the audio didn’t sound great.
Will you be addressing the compression issue in an updated version?
Would you happen to have a regular stereo track, as opposed to separate mono tracks?
Aside from the audio and compression issues, the edit was enjoyable!

Star Wars: A New Hope DEVASTATOR EDITION (V.2 a WIP)

Would it be possible to temporarily shift a few folders from your Hard Drive to an online file storage system?
That might free up the space you need?
Alternatively, can you borrow an external Hard Drive?

So I’m having a bit of an issue.
After rendering the file to my external drive, It doesnt open and instead sends me an error message like this:

I’ve tried to render a portion to my internal drive and it seems fine.
but the problem is that my internal drive is almost full and can’t hold a 30GB file.
what do I do?

I also tried converting it via AVIDEMUX but that doesn’t seem to work either.
I’m using Davinci resolve for rendering BTW.

Hi. I’m a fan of the ‘Anti-Cheese’ edits and only watch those versions when I’m doing a Star Wars marathon. I’m interested in watching your edit. Do you plan to edit the remaining pre-quel trilogy?

Hey,

Yes I’m definitely going to do edits of the other two films in the trilogy.
Episode 2 is nearly finished, with only a handful of things left to do.
Episode 3 is around 60% finished.

Cheers,

Update:
I got a response from the company and basically what they said to me was their copy came from a transfer of a 16mm film. And It’s in the public domain. Their restorer Robert Kauspedas passed away and they own the master copy of the restored version that he produced, which he said was “still not that great quality” and that their version is available to license if I want to.
Im just going to ask if I can see the video because I’m not too familiar with the business of licensing something and whether it’s free to do so.
Update #2
He replied by saying he’s going to ask for approval from a producer and that will be in touch.

Thank you so much for the links to that PSA video; it was never shown here in Australia, and I never knew it existed before!
