A touchy subject
Time
No way, they must be kidding...Obiwan "Kaboi?" "Jewish George Lucas?" No way! "seven seal being the seventh sequel" to a movie franchise with only six films in it? "The attack on the Death Star is like sperm trying to impregnate an ovum"?

Oh... "load media's coverage of us on their website. (446 k) They thought we were quite scary. (And real!)"

For future reference (I mean the statement before your edit), you don't have to pretend to see their POV when they're fuckin stupid. That's very well put together little thing though, reminicent of the "thank god for dead soldiers" people (maybe what it's lampooning?). I love the "everyone knows God exists" or "the proof we have is in the bible" arguments. It's embarassing to people who are big on faith.

ROTS in the IMDb top 250!

A lot of the movies in the top 250 are there more because of the period of time they were made and by who. Like the Stanely Kubrick films. Those are all overrated but since Kubrick’s has this aurora around him that he’s so great people tend to inflate their opinions on his movie thinking they’re so smart to like films that are weird.

Audience reaction to the reveal?
Time
There really was all this debate about whether he could be lying? That explains the the big "reveal" by Yoda in ROTJ that Vader actually is Luke's father. I had no idea why Luke needed like "confirmation" from Yoda on the subject, and why there was such a big musical sting right after Yoda said "your father is" like it was some big surprise.

I never had a first viewing of Star Wars so this is totally cool.

Does Anyone Want To Do A Potentially Challenging - But Neat - Star Wars Title Crawl For Me?
Time
That's pretty damn cool.

Hm, I guess Premiere could do it, but I'm not sure. Color replace could change the colors of ESB and ROTJ texts to their respective colors, or rather you could completely redo the texts in LSTextMaker--which is easier than matting out the episode title from the original footage, and you can change the color right there and create a new crawl. The logo should be easy enough if it was on a solid color background, but Premiere renders motion pretty cheesy (meaning it looks like it was done on somebodies home computer). I'm only talking about Premiere cause that's what I have.

Would it go on top of a preservation effort, be like a demi-preservation? What else would you be planning? cause a change in the first few minutes of the film doesn't seem worth creating a whole DVD over.

Hey that doesn't stop it from being a spot-on illustration of the American dream corrupted by 80s lavish egoism. (I came up with that all by myself! ) Don't let the silly hip hop Scarface cult "mix the bag" for you! Although you're right, even the DVD menu on the Anniversary Edition felt intruded by a Hip Hop/Gangsta tone.

Anybody else have a reoder for the top 250? I was hoping to start something!

Well hey let's not use this douchebag to characterize Lucas or McCallum in an improper way. I think Lucas wouldn't be so base. McCallum though...the special features had had to censor him a couple of times...nah I'm sure they'd bullshit us a lot more politely and diplomatically and from a position of condescending authority. You know how they are.

I get uncomfortable sometimes looking at certain avatars anymore don't you? There's the avatar with Han sitting back from when he says "over my dead body" that a couple of jackasses have given a bad name, and there's one jerk using Luke turning to the Emperor right before he says "I'll never turn to the dark side," And seeing Ocp's old avatar I thought maybe it was him. This guy didn't know enough about the controversy to be Ocp anyway. Plus, Ocp simply was self-rightous and disparaging to competing projects like X0, instead of disparaging to the entire movement. It's funny actually he was arguing with us about how great the September release will be when they'll be of the same quality as an unclean X0...then again he left before that was revealed.

Oh yeah, I hate assholes who use "free speech" to argue their point. "I'm right because we can all say whatever we want!" What?! It's worse than the Chewbacca defense! "Lucas can change history because he can say whatever he wants!" People, it does NOT MAKE SENSE! If Chewbacca lives on Endor you must aquit!

I just did another test encode and I'm drained. I think I'll quit with making any more cuts, I just need to slice off the "meeting" scene with Padme and Anakin and I'll let it end.

Okay, differences here from Slumberland's, no talking--by anybody--the rule of two is kinda unnecessary and I'm not sure why they're talking when it should have a bit more of a reverent feel to it. The original soundtrack is also a little too present for my hear so that's why nobody's talking. The ending shot is a group pic. The only thing I'm uncomfortable with is the fact the final music cue is taken unaltered from another film and maybe that's lame of me--seeing as the final music cue to RotS felt sort of contrived anyway, also by not including fire soundfx it might be a tad "too reverent." As always please forgive my free codecs

No explanation necessary (but we got one anyway)
Time
Speaking of inconsistencies... (I'm sure a lot of these have come up before)

AOTC:
Explain why Nute Gunray wants Padme's head on a plate before he'll sign the separatist treaty when she's the leader of the opposition to the mobilization of a military against it? Man, I understand that Darth Sidious needs the separatist movement to threaten the Republic so he can create an army, gain emergency powers and scare the republic into giving him full control of the galaxy because he wants power and Lucas wants to do a little social commentary on current government politics..., so why couldn't he have been behind the assasination attempt? Instead the separatists all want her dead. What?

And what's the Republic doing WITHOUT a military in the first place? How come the Trade Federation is allowed to have an army and not the fucking people in charge of the galaxy?

How come the "cloners" have been making clone armies for like--forever, and the Republic's army is the "finest they've ever created?" Have there been "clone wars" preceding the one and only "clone war" that is referenced throughout the rest of the Star Wars fanbase as the "clone war" because it exclusively made use of clones?

Of course there's C3PO's participation in the prequels, but that's explained in like...two seconds right at the end of everything with an ancillary ass cover. Thanks LF... Now just go back and erase Lars' memory too, Owen had that very distinctive protocol droid ever since Shmi came into the family, I'm not sure exactly why C3PO up and left for no reason to follow Anakin and Padme off to Geonosis, but whatever it's been brought up countless times before...

Seismic charges in space? Sound and fire was enough cause you could just pretend they were there in spirit so all could suspend their disbelief and enjoy Star Wars, but as a weapon?

ROTS:
Remember to grab real tight to a nearby rail when the bridge on a starship has decompressed.

If General Grievous coughs, then he breathes, which is okay because he's a cyborg, but why does he have no trouble breathing in the vacuum of space when he escapes the bridge? You can't dance back and forth like this LF. He can't be a robot and a cyborg and back and forth to accomodate whatever the hell it is you need it to accomodate.

Since when is a lightsaber--primary ingredients being light and saber--magnetic against Darth Sidious' lightening? Being able to block laser bolts is one thing because lasers are made of light too, so light can reflect light and...wait...

Even if I love Star Wars or LOTR, there are so many more interesting movies in the history of cinema... too bad...

There's a variety to America, some people think things out before they cast a vote and some rate Batman Begins as the 81st greatest film of all time. Either way, all have access to a computer.

Allright, I've assembled my own reorder of the top ten using IMDBs top 250, I haven't seen every film on the top 250 and the order is a little wish-washy cause I consider all the greatest films of all time equally greatest of all time, but bear with me.

1 - Fight Club*
1 - Dr. Strangelove
1 - A Clockwork Orange
1 - Scarface (80s)
1 - Empire Strikes Back (more as a representative of the whole OOT)
1 - Apocalypse Now
1 - Taxi Driver
1 - The Shining (just for simply kicking ass)
1 - Blade Runner*
1 - Casablanca

"2001: A Space Odyssey" would have made it on my top ten, but since it's greatness cannot be measured in puerile mortal numbers I'll have to settle for tacking it on the end. imdb's list should start right after A Space Odyssey and A Space Odyssey's authority at the top must never be questioned by any movie of lesser status.

How bout anybody else's edit of the imdb list?

You know I went through track 15 a bit, and decided to use the ending straight from ROTS for this one--the music with Luke being taken to Tatooine and them staring off into the sunset, the transition was easy and the "A New Hope" theme worked for me like it was a "First Hope" theme or something. Thanks for the tip, I got lazy with it but it works real well.

Slumberland, since we're talking about your project anyway (), I actually noticed that your iris out seems to match the actual iris out, while mine is way too thin, and Premiere just won't make it wider without wanting a "border" in the middle. Do you wanna help me out maybe? It'd be easy: Just take this shot
http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g40/DledRhapsody/FuneralEndShot.jpg
then reverse it so it's zooming out, then put on a good iris out for me and post it?

Okay, so my ending, lol. Actually me and Slumberland are on similar wavelengths here, but whereas he took the time to build a new score to go into the credits, I just stole it from ROTS. I also have no talking--a couple of friends at a test screening thought that sucked. I might put in the sound of fire like he did, but I'm not sure. I also end on a different shot, zooming out from all the people standing there. I thought it had more of a Star Wars ending feel, ending on Palpatine seems just too quick in all the stuff I've seen posted, but is kinda creepy cool that he's the last thing we see so I made sure that's the end shot right before the iconic Star Wars "group pic" ending shot.

I burned a test DVD that was absolutely awful, but that'll be fixed when I get a new burner. The DVD menu is the absolute greatest thing ever created by human hands, I won't post it because it requires no critique or review, it simply is perfect and I want to save it for everybody's first viewing of the DVD.

Let's take a final stab at it

Episode I: Return of the Sith
Episode II: Shadows of the Republic
Episode III: Rise of the Empire

damn, don't want so many titles with "of the" in them, but oh well.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While looking over my timeline I realized the Queen has a TERRIBLE plan to win the freedom of her planet, and Quigon's line "That's a well conceived plan" is an all-out lie. OMG I mean they don't even have a real plan. Basically we're going to fly up to something 100 times bigger than us like bees and fly around trying to hit something and make it explode. Christ, when they tried to destroy the Death Star, they had a magical exhaust port that lead right to the main reactor which for some reason if you bump it, it destroys the entire station. "Queen, there's great risk to this plan," "Don't worry, I'll fire randomly into the air at the battleships with my pistol that sounds like it's got a wah wah pedal attached to it and maybe that'll help, or maybe I'll hide under a rack of coats and hope somehow this all turns out okay!"

Anyway, it's a bit shoddy. I took a shot used seconds before of Anakin turning to the Queen, reversed it, and shortened it, just so in all ways it's almost a new shot, and layed it over the audio transition between when the Queen finishes her plan and when Quigon talks about their lasers not penetrating the shields. At least now no one's pretending this plan of hers is going to work.
