Mace Towani from the Ewok movies used a blaster that shot blue bolts.

over the top Palpatine in that ROTS duel worked for me. at least in a so bad it was entertaining kind of way in an otherwise joyless film.
i think what detracts more from Palpatine is that line: "You can't kill him he's a SITH LORD!" and those other goofy moments when he was on the droid ship.

One idea that just popped in my brain for people who want the prune faced look of the Emperor to be his true face (rather than resulting from Mace's reflection of Force Lightning which makes very little sense taking into account the lack of warping on Luke after getting the full blast of the Emperor's lightning in ROTJ).
As an alternative to blacking out the Sidious' face (as Magnoliafan and JasonN have done) it may be possible to add the prune face look onto those scene's (using similar techniques to those used by Ady for his redux of the ESB hologram).
In AOTC Palpatine begins to look gray faced and older but he looks younger in ROTS before his final transformation (presumably because Lucas had changed his mind about having a more gradual transformation).
If the full on pruny look was applied to Sidious it would be as effective a mask as blacking him out and having Palpatine lose the mask could be more instant (as attempted in a number of recent ROTS edit projects) and the audience would instantly link that face with those earlier scenes in the saga.
i guess Force lightning is extremely poisonous to a Sith if reflected back to them. i can buy that. and imo, it's an ability exclusive to only the most powerful Sith. what doesn't make sense is how Obi-Wan merely absorbed it to his light saber in AOTC whereas Windu reflected it in ROTS. seriously it depends on the angle in which you hold your light saber?? it's a focused beam of energy come on how would it matter in the least..
i thought the music when Grievous walks out of his shuttle was a bit much.
i'm digging everything else. especially the TIE sounds. great work
and Lucas's little dance is hilarious.
oooooh and i suggest adding more distortion to the voices when they are talking to the clone pilots. in the Death Star battle in ANH voices were at times so distorted they sounded unrecognizable.
Yeah well aside from the whole Snips thing
I suppose if there's a small breach in the cockpit you'd have time to put on the oxygen mask if it attaches to their regular helmet (in which case that's better than abandoning your fighter). but if you have to quickly eject you'd be screwed.
so i think they have both. oxygen mask and the cockpit can eject.

On that "DS looks way too small" issue, I think what everyone's said for a long while, about having the reveal of the new DS dwarfing the Executor, is ideal.
Also, maybe try to minimize the number of shots in the film that actually feature the DS and the Moon both, since those are the ones that make the DS looks small. Instead keep the DS as the focus, dwarfing everything else, instead.
From that scale picture, it seems like the Executor crashing will no almost nothing to the DS, so I don't know, maybe you'll have to make the ship going down more meaningful than it actually crashing. Like those suggestions about Piett deliberately crashing the ship in a kamikaze attack (however futile).
In general, actually, you don't get a sense of hopelessness from the DS in this one. It's even bigger, it's shielded, and it hasn't got an easy thermal exhaust port to destroy it. It ought to be invincible and unstoppable, like nothing they can do even scratches it, not even a SUper Star Destroyer crashing into it. As it is right now, as soon as the shield is down, it's easily blown up by a couple of tiny ships. So much for unstoppable. It robs the film of its potential impact. You should be on the edge of your seat, wondering how they're going to survive against this invincible DS, not waiting for them to destroy it.
I like the idea of the Executor doing only small damage, but exposing a way into the core for the Falcon, only exposing a weakness at the last minute, not part of the plan from the start. Instead maybe the plan could have been to literally just blast the crap out of the station while its unfinished, not operational and undefended, to make it unusable before its operational (with the consequence of it becoming operational meaning the end of the Rebellion, no question). Hence the entire fleet coming. It raises the stakes and feels like the big finale.
Yeah in the Revenge of the Jedi Revised Rough Draft the Rebel Fleet pretty much just gets up along side of the unfinished section and fires everything they got at it, if i remember correctly.

Princess Leia was high on space spice.. she was fairly numb at the time. How can you blame her for developing that habit with the war and Han Solo gone?
the force allows you to see the future...
If the whole cockpit on an x-wing is ejected (it would have to be else they would die) then i guess the life support equipment allows them to survive for as long as it has power.
a wonderful catalyst for Anakin turning to the dark side is him getting so seriously injured, disfigured, requiring cybernetic modifications and sealed suit that it messes with him mentally. what could he do? he can longer be intimate with his wife. she can't help but feel repulsed. he's more machine now than man. but there's Palpatine there giving him hope and his anger keeping him strong. perhaps Anakin's near death injuries were even a result of the Jedi order not negotiating with Sith, Separtists, Mandalorians, etc.
there could still be a duel between Vader & Obi-Wan. but i guess that would be a pretty tall order as a fan edit.
Yeah i'd love for that line to go too. it's bs. but if you do take it out you'll be missing a reaction from Leia on that revelation. she doesn't say much.

yep. and after searching on google (no mention of it) i don't think too many people have noticed it before.

that's nothin. check out what's hanging on the wall in the back here.
while watching ROTJ again it came to me that a wonderful catalyst for Anakin turning to the dark side is him getting so seriously injured, disfigured, requiring cybernetic modifications and being disabled in that he has to wear a sealed suit. that would mess you up mentally. what could he do? he can longer be intimate with his wife. he's more machine now than man. but there's Palpatine there giving him hope.
so in my mind Anakin wasn't perfectly fine up until the Obi-Wan duel. it was in some other duel or several others that he got that way. he probably wore a prototype Vader suit without the classic Sith style influences. that was added later after he turned.

When Vader has his hand cut off, at a certain point (I forget where) I remember thinking it looks really obvious that he's got a longer arm to create the illusion of a "stump." Perhaps that could be fixed somehow.
true. i think it's after Vader tosses the Emperor down the thing and he's slumped over breathing hard looking down there. the actor is bending his wrist at that moment totally shatters the illusion. always bugged me
i like the little bit of Clone Wars history revealed in this issue of the old Marvel Star Wars comics concerning Mandalorians:

shortly after Palpatine set up the Galactic Empire, the Mandalorian government sent in 212 Supercommandos to help fight for the Empire during the Clone Wars. only three survived. Boba Fett, Fenn Sysha and Tobbi Dala. Fett who was their chief officer, became disenchanted with fighting for the Empire and went off on his own to become a bounty hunter.

Honestly, I want to see the scene where the Ewoks give Leia a new dress and braid her hair.
the Lucas of today would certainly have included that.
i just always figured Owen was really Anakin's brother. they were brothers and had a big falling out and i guess Old Ben told Owen about what happened.
after seeing the trailers and commercials for The Phantom Menace it was enough for me to stay away. i never had the intention of renting it or anything i was so turned off. but eventually i had acquired the VHS tape as a gift and my suspicions were confirmed.
this was not genuine Star Wars.
maybe Palpatine wanted a nice view of the space battle as he waited.
I listened to the first radio drama but i can't remember much about the events that take place before the beginning of the film.
How would transparent displays be superior anyway? Whatever is behind in the background would interfere with what you're looking at making for a more difficult viewing experience. just once i'd like to see a holographic display that is opaque like tv screens have always been
