I agree SKB should just be a base. Perhaps we could edit the exterior shots to make it a plain planet (the scale is really off, fuel oslicator is seeable from space about the size of Texas but on ground it’s the size of a football stadium).

So in this version, how would the destruction of the Hosnian system be handled? Would it be removed entirely (with perhaps the Star Destroyer shots from Restructured and a few of those changs), and only established in the crawl for TLJ?

Personally I didn’t care for the Hosnian destruction, it felt very empty, repetitive, and for such a huge event had very little impact on things. I don’t recall any mention of it in the ST besides Finn’s line in TFA, though I might be wrong.

I’d prefer to start the ST with the First Order and New Republic at war, plain and simple. The New Republic was at peace before Snoke appeared and aren’t prepared for war, leaving Leia’s small resistance all that’s left for now. Over the course of TLJ Leia’s army is picked off (while similar events happen over the galaxy) and by the end the First Order has control over most of the galaxy, leaving the Resistance all that’s left. Republic capitol isn’t important to the First Order, they probably waltz in with their far superior fleet.

We could replace all exterior shots of DS1 with the more iconic DS2, and have that he the one and only Death Star. Then Eclispe for ROTJ.

I would not remove Death Star II. It’s iconic, it’s something that’s a big part of Star Wars, like it or not. I mean, it’s even the logo for this website.

As a general rule, I wouldn’t remove things people expect to see when they watch a certain Star Wars movie. That includes major characters, settings and plot points. Like, if it would be on the poster of the movie, leave it. Jar Jar, ewoks, DSII, Star Killer Base, etc.

I beg to differ, with an entire saga edit we have the ability to omit certain things most edits cannot. For example, if we wanted to make the republic troopers not clones, and just drafted citizens fighting evil droids, we could remove any instances of “clone” in the PT and cut the line about the Clone Wars from ANH. That’s something most prequel edits cannot do, and while I’m not saying we should do it it’s something to consider.

I don’t want to narrow the focus down too much, but as a counter to your examples:
I think Ewoks are too ingrained into the story of ROTJ to remove. DS2 is iconic but stupid if you think about it, I can see both sides. Jar Jar is universally hated, I don’t think anyone would oppose from his omission (if we could pull it off). Death Star 3 needs to die.

I say keep Mace’s lightsaber purple and give make Anakin’s turn red during the order 66 thing then turn blue again when he gets conflicted on Mustifar.

So saber color changes based on emotion? That’s an interesting thought, but I don’t know if something so radical would work for a collaborative edit.

Let’s let the OP decide.

I think we should limit our canon to just the 9 films. A trilogy of trilogies. Thankfully Rogue One and Solo are standalone, so we can avoid them entirely without many contradictions. TCW and Rebels, while good parts of the story, are not the main focus and shouldn’t be catered too. We should make the prequel films are good as possible.

That being said, I fear this thread will quickly become a mess. I could go on and on with possible changes from all over the saga. I suggest we start with fixing bigger story contradictions, like Leia remembering her mother. After that we narrow down, focus on the prequel’s overall story and the clone wars origin. Then narrow down further, focus on the individual changes for the TPM, and so on. Then the originals, then the sequels (by then ep 9 will have come out).

I think it’d also be helpful if the OP updated the first post to include a list of all the agreed changes (and editing progress for them) so everyone can know what’s happening easily.

Here are all the major contradictions through the saga I can think of. I think we should focus on inter-trilogy changes first:
–Leia remembers her mother
–Obi-Wan never remembers R2 (fix: “old friend”)
–Your father wanted you to have this (fix: “would’ve wanted”)
–Death Star I takes 19 years, II 3 (fix: cut the cameo in ROTS or use Snooker’s sovereign with his permission)
–Who made the Death Star again? (fix: cut the cameo in AOTC)
–The Jedi wear hermit robes (we probably can change this but worth mentioning)
–Anakin is no “good friend” (fix: edit AOTC throughout and remove temper tantrums)
–The First Order somehow rose from nowhere (fix: end ROTJ without galactic montage, it’s only a major victory not end of the war)
–Luke doesn’t kill Vader but almost murders Ben (how about instead of him attacking that causes the rise of darkness, it’s his refusal to fight the rising darkness which is more true to his character)
–Snoke (fix: Darth Plaguies)
–The rebels didn’t accomplish anything (fix: merge the resistance and new republic… leia is commanding a regiment in the outer rim)

The Force Awakens: Official Review Thread - ** SPOILERS **

The main problem with The Force Awakens is the unoriginal story. If I wanted to watch a movie where

then I would simply watch A New Hope.

By that logic, The Force Awakens sucks and should be reviewed poorly as it is too similar to A New Hope. Also by that logic, A New Hope sucks and should be reviewed poorly as it is too similar to The Hidden Fortress.

No one criticizes ANH for borrowing too much from The Hidden Fortress, even though they are from entirely separate franchises (Lucas is in more wrong for stealing than Abrams). Most movie critics don’t care if it borrows, they simply judge the movie on its own. Which tells the story best? I think people need to stop hating on TFA purely because it’s “too much like ANH” and starting considering how it uses the plot to support it’s themes.

I mean, it looks cool, but all you did was shift the hue of the whole image.

Could be useful if it was just anakins lightsaber that was red.

Yeah I’m nowhere near Paja’s skill. I was just changing the hue and once I realized it’s full powe tried to find some good combinations. Wanted to share it considering the current recoloring trend.
