Idea: Preserving Attack of the Clones - The IMAX Experience
Time

It’s easy to get Attack of the Clones under an hour. Just redub the analysis droid scene to imply Jango is on Geonosis rather than Kamino and change the crawl to imply that the clones have already been created and the debate is more about whether or not to deploy them. Then cut the romance similar to the Phantom Editor.

The question is whether or not you’d really want Attack of the Clones under an hour.

Help Wanted: with Star Wars Episode II 1080p TV rip synced to Blu-Ray DTS HD MA

If all they did was flip a couple shots could you not remux the stream into an avi and use virtualdub to rearrange the shots (using the copy and paste, possibly cloning or deleting a few frames to make it sync) and import the audio into VD as well as a secondary track to check sync then export it as a direct stream copy? You could then use tsmuxer to remux into whatever container you wish.

I would think so, but I can’t seem to find software that will remux into avi successfully for me. I’m also confused as to how to use the “paste” function in virtualdub…it doesn’t seem to be working.

Tsmuxer works great purely for muxing but this will require some minor editing since two sequences were rearranged on the blu-ray. I don’t think tsmuxer has that functionality. I may need to bite the bullet and convert the video into DnxHD or Prores, edit the video and then re-encode but I’d really prefer not to.

Is this a thing? I know about KK650’s version but he graded the video more yellow to match his preferences. I think he did a V1 that was more true to the DVD/theatrical colors but I can’t find it anywhere. What I would really like is for someone to sync schorman’s HDTV preservation video to the Blu-Ray audio without re-encoding. I’ve tried to do it myself with programs like avidemux but I can’t figure it out, the program just crashes when I try to load up either the BD rip or Schorman’s video.

The Blackened Mantle (3-in-1 Prequel Trilogy Fan Edit) is finally back on YouTube!
Time

So I’ve done some digging on the internet, and a found a copy of this edit that is better quality than the one available from the description in the youtube video linked in the OP. It’s still highly compressed, but it doesn’t have the weird framerate issues of that version and it’s a bit higher resolution. PM me if you’d like a link.

I am literally shocked at how well this edit worked for me. I was bawling like a baby at the end. The Japanese voice acting is so well done and the narrative changes are a revelation. I have never been so invested in Anakin’s character, nor have I ever been so convinced by his fall or felt the tragedy of his clash with Obi-Wan.

That said, this edit is a bit rough around the edges. Rough in terms of video quality, and inn terms of some of the edits. I really feel like if someone recreated this edit from scratch with blu-ray quality footage, smoother editing and a few minor story tweaks here and there (Some of the flashbacks like the Coruscant city chase run a little longer than they need to), I would never want to watch the prequels any other way.

Hell, I’d do it myself, but inserting and timing that many subtitles correctly sounds like a lot of work, and it’s something I haven’t really attempted before.

Help Wanted: Syncing Blu-Ray DTS HD audio of AOTC to Schorman's HDTV preservation?
Time

How possible is this? I know there are two places where shot orders are reversed on the AOTC Blu-Ray along with the audio. Would it be possible to losslessly edit the DTS HD track and sync it up to the HDTV preservation?

Attack of the Clones is really the only prequel Blu-Ray that I think was really botched so I’d like to have it in the best audio and video quality.

I’ve pretty much given up on prequel edits but I will say this has the best AOTC edit name ever.

Thanks! And yeah, I don’t think my edits will satisfy anyone suffering from prequel edit burn-out. They’re not anything radically different than what you’ve seen, just my personal cuts that I’ve decided to share. EpII is more divergent from other edits I’ve seen than my Ep I was though, which was pretty much just a hybrid of L8wrtr’s and Hal’s edits.

Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, Sanded Down (Released)
Time

This edit is now available on a certain 'spleen or by Private Message

This is a fanedit of Star Wars Episode II and a sequel to my fanedit “Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Faster, More Intense!”. In truth it is less of a fanedit than a fanedit hybrid, combining some of the best (in my opinion) of Hal9000’s edit, l8wrtr’s edit, the original Attack of the Phantom and some new ideas of my own. There are significantly more original cuts and editing ideas in this edit than in my Episode I edit.

When it comes to Episode II, no one fanedit has ever fully satisfied me. I feel they all have their strengths and weaknesses, and I set out to make a cut that curates edits from these various fanedits to match my vision for the film. Particularly, I wanted to try a somewhat new approach to the film’s romance (although I still take significant cues from the Phantom Editor and Hal9000 here). While some of the cuts were recreated by myself, I confess that most of them were cribbed directly from the source material: the original fanedits, with Hal9000’s as a primary source and l8wrtr’s as a secondary (I used some clips from kk650’s recolored version of the blu-ray as well). Some audio from the original phantom edit was also used. I have put an emphasis on matching the professionalism of these original edits, and I wanted to make the film a suitable replacement for someone who has never seen Attack of the Clones before. I do plan to make a similar edit of Episode III once L8wrtr releases his Episode III V2.
