True, but they don’t lay out all the extras in this release 😉

I’m massively anticipating the BD50. Incredible work njvc.
Sort of…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSCm8yAxBr8&list=PLINl9l0igYjzIipxsD4Y59_Jjxe4N3pZo
I don’t think you should embellish Struzan’s art, even if it’s not accurate to the film. Stick with the original painting imo.
Personally I think it’s pretty awesome. Good job if you made that!
It’s easy to get Attack of the Clones under an hour. Just redub the analysis droid scene to imply Jango is on Geonosis rather than Kamino and change the crawl to imply that the clones have already been created and the debate is more about whether or not to deploy them. Then cut the romance similar to the Phantom Editor.
The question is whether or not you’d really want Attack of the Clones under an hour.
I love the movie as is, but I’m potentially interested in this. It does sound like an improvement.
I’m definitely interested in the BD50s 😃.
I’d appreciate a PM for both of these if possible…thanks!
So I just bit the bullet and re-encoded but I can’t notice any quality difference which is good. I’ll make it available somewhere shortly in mkv form. It will be large file, probably about 40gb. I can also make a BD25-sized version if there’s interest.
Definitely would prefer mono mix to laserdisc audio. Rebelforceradio, redlettermedia and collider commentaries would be a big draw for me, but I understand that the official stuff should probably take precedence. Having those commentaries cut to fit the despecialized edition on a mkv would be nice though.
So I decided to edit it in premiere (just by changing the container to mp4) and export as lagarith lossless. What program would people recommend for the best quality re-encode to a blu-ray complaint file?
If all they did was flip a couple shots could you not remux the stream into an avi and use virtualdub to rearrange the shots (using the copy and paste, possibly cloning or deleting a few frames to make it sync) and import the audio into VD as well as a secondary track to check sync then export it as a direct stream copy? You could then use tsmuxer to remux into whatever container you wish.
I would think so, but I can’t seem to find software that will remux into avi successfully for me. I’m also confused as to how to use the “paste” function in virtualdub…it doesn’t seem to be working.
Hmm is the Adobe h.264 encoder that bad? Good to know since I used it for my own fan edits, I should probably avoid it in the future. What software would you recommend for encoding blu-ray compliant video?
Tsmuxer works great purely for muxing but this will require some minor editing since two sequences were rearranged on the blu-ray. I don’t think tsmuxer has that functionality. I may need to bite the bullet and convert the video into DnxHD or Prores, edit the video and then re-encode but I’d really prefer not to.
Is this a thing? I know about KK650’s version but he graded the video more yellow to match his preferences. I think he did a V1 that was more true to the DVD/theatrical colors but I can’t find it anywhere. What I would really like is for someone to sync schorman’s HDTV preservation video to the Blu-Ray audio without re-encoding. I’ve tried to do it myself with programs like avidemux but I can’t figure it out, the program just crashes when I try to load up either the BD rip or Schorman’s video.
Harmy might revisit Respecialized when the 3.0s are done for all three films.
Yeah, that would probably be the smartest thing to do. No sense in revamping it now when 3.0 will make it obsolete. What’s next on the pipeline, Empire 2.5?
Fantastic work on 2.7, it looks great, especially the colors! Is there any chance a version of the Respecialized edition can be released with the same improvements? It’d be nice to have the 97SE preserved with the same care.
So I’ve done some digging on the internet, and a found a copy of this edit that is better quality than the one available from the description in the youtube video linked in the OP. It’s still highly compressed, but it doesn’t have the weird framerate issues of that version and it’s a bit higher resolution. PM me if you’d like a link.
I am literally shocked at how well this edit worked for me. I was bawling like a baby at the end. The Japanese voice acting is so well done and the narrative changes are a revelation. I have never been so invested in Anakin’s character, nor have I ever been so convinced by his fall or felt the tragedy of his clash with Obi-Wan.
That said, this edit is a bit rough around the edges. Rough in terms of video quality, and inn terms of some of the edits. I really feel like if someone recreated this edit from scratch with blu-ray quality footage, smoother editing and a few minor story tweaks here and there (Some of the flashbacks like the Coruscant city chase run a little longer than they need to), I would never want to watch the prequels any other way.
Hell, I’d do it myself, but inserting and timing that many subtitles correctly sounds like a lot of work, and it’s something I haven’t really attempted before.
I’m very interested in these, if only for the alien language dialogue as a resource.
Yeah, Hal’s “Prequel FanEdit Care Package” is what you want to look for. It’s available on the 'spleen on possibly elsewhere.
How possible is this? I know there are two places where shot orders are reversed on the AOTC Blu-Ray along with the audio. Would it be possible to losslessly edit the DTS HD track and sync it up to the HDTV preservation?
Attack of the Clones is really the only prequel Blu-Ray that I think was really botched so I’d like to have it in the best audio and video quality.
I doubt it’ll happen unless Lucasfilm does it for the eventual 4K Blu-Rays
Impressive. Most Impressive.
