That would be so awesome, I will help in any way too...though R2 and sheba are right, Lucas' grasp is tight on all star wars. He is the web nazi, closing down board, squelching rumors, etc. He is the one that shrewdly made a deal with the original film to have all the merchandising rights. Still criterion, hmm, that's more of a dream than just a Lucas OT release (non-perverted of course).

I would back you on that Luke. I don't need to sit down after a long day of work and fill my mind with stress, negativity and hate...I certainly can find that other places with little effort. This board is about the love of Star Wars and more specifically the understanding that we are losing something we love. I have made many friends here and it has transcended just Star Wars, though that was are starting point, for all of us. r2, galahad, windexed, mio, rikter, magnolia, luke, bossk, darth sheba, klingon, warbler, etc. These are names of good friends I converse with and share ideas with every day based on our common love of SW. This board is a source of enjoyment and it is here I believe I have found a home. That's cool to me.

All of this said, when I see someone ruining the place we hang out for friendship and worse still, singling out some of my friends with hateful comments; I will defend them.

Jimbo, I do believe it is time you got IP banned from this board. And maybe there is a place for you where people find pleasure out of hateful comments and harsh criticism. But its not here, not with me, and apparently not with most of my friends.

Interesting, indeed. I don't know if that's the best example, but I get what you mean. Something like Samurai Jack is certainly a hybrid western and eastern though not really CGI. I do like the hybrid style of the CG done by square in the Animatrix and certainly the job they did with Final Fantasy: Spirits Within. Looks amazing to me. And I certainly am a big fan of anime. Actually, Blood is all in CG and is a japanese animation with western influence and that was phenomenal. It can work. That said, Lucas can manage to destroy anything good.

Welcome home, Robin Hood...great post and you'll learn to ignore Jimbo quickly. It's funny the 1977 one looks better than the 1997 one to me. Granted the image is sharper, but the colors are way to dark and filtered looking. I will certainly admit the new one looks best of all being sharp, but with those awful colors fixed. Great comparison though, and if the movie is going to butchered to oblivion it might as well look good.

Galahad I hear you. Ironic it is that Jimbo loves Star Wars and is so focused on justifying hate with religion. The principle of "the Force", "having balance", "not letting hate consume you", etc... that is central to the stories of star wars and is based on Joseph Campbell's research on Myth and Religion and central principles.

Most religions do not practice hate of any kind. It can be preverted to justify hate like with Nazism and the KKK with Christianity or some of these radical groups we are seeing in the middle East with Muslim/Islam. Those groups do much work to make that entire religion or portion of the world to look bad, because motivated hate seems to draw the most attention.

Jimbo, while the Bible does not condone homosexuality, it does not preach hate either. Are you deeply relgious? Do you remember Jesus saying some of the filthy, wretched hateful things you are saying? I don't. What's more the bible teaches that premarital sex is a sin and living with a partner of even the opposite sex prior to marriage is living in sin. And the Bible teaches Sin is sin, very simply. Are you above reproach then? You have no place to judge blanketly and justify hate with religion.

You need to really look in the mirror at your own issues. Maybe its time for you to get right with God, Jimbo. Erase the hate man...its just not cool here on this board. Or anywhere else. Hate is the disease if your looking for one. And you're sick, bro.

Please tell me, my god, you are speaking of the original trilogy that I will buy. Most love the original because it was ground breaking and true. ESB was the darkest and most compelling. So I will buy, with general consensus that while ROTJ was good the other two were better...but for the love of god, please tell me you are not saying the Phantom Menace or ATOC is better??!!! TPM, are you out of your mind? Wait I know the answer to that.

Sad, why? Discussing hypotheticals, rumors and possiblities (even remote) is what's fun about this board. No one said this is going to happen or this is likely. I think what's sad is people that don't put thought into posts and widely and blanketly criticize or those that try and increase their number of posts by putting two to four word posts on every thread. That's sad and offers nothing of value. Please don't bash free, unrestrained and creative thought.

Send a copy to RowMan or Rikter, and with their approval you'd have the love of the board. Two sets are circulating now, the TR47 which has 5.1 sound and the anamorphic which is 2.0 with widescreen picture. There is talk of doing a dual layer disc to have both, but at present it is expensive and has had mixed results according to Rik. Let us know what you got though. And welcome.

Well, I am to be married march 26th next spring and my fiancee doesn't have the same appreciation, she likes watching movies and doesn't hate seeing star wars, but doesn't get what it meant to my generation. It wasn't just a sci-fi movie, it was one of the first amazing movie experiences, it was pop-culture, toys, lunchboxes, it was quite simply...GREAT and PURE and now GL has perverted that to no end. It's like seeing a good friend leave you. Or a girl you love breakup with you. It is, as you said, like a part of you dying. Because it is a part of us. It was a huge part of my formative years and has therefore shaped somewhat who I am. While, my proposal is not true, my appreciation for a woman with a strong sense of what's wrong with something we love is most certainly there. Thanks for posting here.
