Above is all Pixel has mentioned about the flashbacks. Hopefully he adds some much needed changes in these scenes. I did a little mock up of what looks a little better in my opinion. Changes include…

• Major color correction on entire scene, and especially on both faces. It’s way to pink and de-saturated
• Obi-Wans robes are pink-ish, even after color correction and need to be a little tan
• Obi-Wans hair needs more orange in it
• I think Obi-Wan needs to be de-aged as well
• Needs Coruscant traffic in background

Yeah I saw that one, but it didn’t have much information on it, listed no changes, and only had a few screenshots. I thought I’d put one together that had everything, since it was all very spread out.

Latest Update: (March 6th 2025) - Okay time to get here as well (discord)! You all saw what happened, luckily the frustration didn’t last long and we really had a miracle. Before I address your questions and concerns, here’s a bit more explanation on my decision to change the location of the cave. First of all, it’s the logic behind Obi-Wan protecting Luke. In case Luke is in danger, Obi-Wan has to cross the Dune Sea and travel for a while to get to the homestead. Not very practical… The second reason is a double-edged sword (no pun intended) when it comes to Obi-Wan’s mental state. He’s close to Luke, so he could protect him, but he also constantly faces the reminder of his failure and fears for the future whenever he looks outside his cave. I thought it would be interesting to explore that idea. Owen knows all of this and remains as hostile as always, which fits well into that idea. My friend and I also tweaked their conversation a little to further accommodate that change. Then, when Obi-Wan decides to move in the end, Owen’s shift in attitude makes more sense. Regarding the location of the cave, nothing really changed in the broader scope since there is already a large rock formation that Obi-Wan uses to observe the homestead. I just placed the cave there. The distance is the same as in the series.

Nice catch! Chewies belt is flipped back to the correct shoulder after that, so it was just that one shot.

Although I kind of understand why they did that from an editing perspective.

Feeling a little better now so i’ve restarted work on Revisited. Because of this , my plans for a mid year release of ANH:R HD is out of the window. Plus i will be adding shots to the battle of Yavin for a slightly extended TIE battle ( not as long as the SD version though), so this will add to the remaining shots left to be done. Honestly, my number one ask is to replace that matte painting shot when Han is departing with the strike team and talking to Lando with the falcon in the background. It is the most obvious matte shot in the entire saga in my opinion. I am still shocked Lucas didn’t tinker with it during the special edition. Especially in HD it always stands out to me like a sore thumb to me.

I think the problem is they used a matte for the entire backdrop. They usually work a lot better when there’s other objects that help blend in to it. Like if the Falcon was a model, the rest as a matte wouldn’t be so bad. That poor ship is rough looking though.

This is amazing, definitely keep it! It connects technology that exists in the rest of the series and was done in a way that blends perfectly, both looks and feel, in to the movie.

I’ve finally fixed that crappy blurry door in the beginning that always bugged me! they over-motion-blurred it originally to disguise the rickety mechanism that closes it, and after years of DNR and restorations by Lucasfilm it’s been scrubbed of all detail, it’s been finally fixed!

Hello Mr. Hal,

Always been a big fan of your prequel edits and just watched your Labyrinth of Evil Alt version. I’m sad you dropped your voice over for the medical droid as a little easter egg. I liked that you cut the “ooooba” from the birthing droid in your original and wished there was a way to drop it from the Alt version. I don’t know why it always bothered me lol. I was wondering if that was something you didn’t like as well, or if it just worked better cutting wise for the original Laberentith of Evil? Thanks again for my go to versions of these movies. I went from liking them to loving them!
