I guess they did, sort of. They each came with a comic book that had a story. The actual game was a puzzle with tasks to perform. Once you performed a task, and left the right items in the right rooms, the game would give you a clue that would tie back to the comic book, and finally you were to come up with a sentence that was the 'solution' to the game. So I don't know if that counts or not. I don't think about Sword Quest much because the games themselves were truly awful and some of the worst games ever made.

My favorite system of all time is the Atari 2600, and you would be hard pressed to find a game made for it that had any sort of story in it, besides those based on pre-existing stories, such as movies or something similar. Two of my favorite games of all time are Space Invaders and Pac-Man, and these have little to no story. Perhaps today people think these games are repetitive and dull, but I still like them. But most of the modern games need stories, with some exceptions.

I don't know about Republic Commando or Battlefront, because I never played them, but I know Knights of the Old Republic was a good game, but it also wasn't by Lucasarts, but was outsourced by them to be done by another company. So Lucasarts didn't actually have much of anything to do with it.

The older Star Wars games were great back in the day, and are still pretty good by today's standards. Games like X-Wing and TIE fighter were some of the best Star Wars games ever made. Dark Forces and Dark Forces II were pretty good, even if they were basically DOOM knock-offs with Stormtroopers and Jedi powers. But no, Lucasarts hasn't made a good Star Wars themed game in years.

No, video games aren't exactly Shakespeare level literature, but they should have some sort of plot. The video games that are remembered have fairly good plots. There have always been the little to no plot video games, and those are usually forgotten, hence the 'good ol'days' mindset. As far as recent Star Wars games go, I think that Knights of the Old Republic had a pretty good plot in it. For the older games, TIE fighter had a pretty good storyline, as did Dark Forces.

I have to agree with this. It seems like TV show based movies have to be parodies of the TV show and make fun of it. I could see them casting Leslie Neilsen as Hannibal and turn it into a slapstick comedy, making sure to make fun of the fact that everyone is blasting away with a machine gun, but noone ever gets shot. One of the few remakes they did that was done seriously was the Mission Impossible series. If they insist on doing this, please don't make it a cheesy parody.

Help Wanted: Request - Star Wars episodes IV, V, VI & 1997 Special Editions

The 5-star release and the Dark Jedi Release are different sets. The 5-Star release was done by Asian pirates and the DVD menu screen says "The New Hope" instead of "A New Hope". Dark Jedi did his own LD transfer later on. The Menus were done by Boba Feta, IIRC, and are very well-done.
Another difference I just thought of was that the 5-Star release has DD 5.1 sound, and foreign language subtitles, and the Dark Jedi release has DD2.0 surround.

The legendary "Starkiller Ranch" Thread
Time
I just noticed this thread and some of the ideas going around.
Somebody mentioned having Grevious turn out to be Darth Maul. If it could be pulled off, I would say go for it. It would give a purpose to an otherwise pointless character. Currently Grevious is little more than something to sell action figures and a 'cool looking' villian, that does little than eat up time in the film and give Obi-Wan a reason to be away from the Jedi Temple and Anakin for the dark side turn. Not sure how one could pull it off, but it would be great to see if possible.

As for why did Anakin stick around with the dark side after Padme died I never had a problem with the way the films handled that, there are several reason I can think of. First off, the dark side isn't so easy to walk away from. Yes, Anakin by going dark ended up destroying the reason he went dark in the first place, but I don't think you can just quit being a sith that easily. Second off, with everyone else now either dead or in hiding, Palpatine is the only friend that Vader has left. He basically doesn't have anywere else to go now but to stick around Palpatine.

Hey. I downloaded those 5 Star SEs, but there's missing at least one part from SW. It's right when they cut from R2 to the first time we see cantina and the alien's head comes up into the screen and Cantina Band starts playing. Well, in these the alien's head is already up when it cuts to cantina. I haven't looked the rest of the film yet, neither ROTJ. TESB looks fine...

Where can I obtain these TB SEs? And are they even better quality than these LD-rips?

I don't know about the TB SE, but I'm pretty sure that Dark Jedi's LD rip of the '97 SE is on myspleen. Put it together with their bonus disc that has the trailers and making-of documentary, and OCPMovie's Special edition Hype, and it makes a pretty good collection of Special Edition material. Don't know if there are still any seeders on these, though.

THE MAKING OF JEDI MONSTERS - CHICON IV - 11 Minute Video
Time
I would love to be wrong about this, but I'm afraid that I have to agree with Klokwerk. I don't see the 30th anniversary boxset having any of the vintage documentaries. Lucas hasn't released any of those on DVD, and I don't see it happening anytime soon. But I'd love to be wrong and have them all released.

As for this documentary, I'd love to see it as well. Hopefully these lost documentaries will surface someday.

to dig them out.

I had a VCR as early as 1980 and I believe I have a tape of a Making

I have it. I'll check."

Sounds positive.

A bad copy is better than what we have now. Good job, JD! Hopefully he has it.

Info Wanted: QVC Star Wars specials - anyone have them?
Time
What is on them? Are they just typical QVC sales, but it happens to be Star Wars stuff, or do they interview him, etc. If they have any interview segments between the sales, it might be worthwhile to edit out the stuff for sale and put together the interview parts.
Of course, this brings to mind the Saturday Night Live sketch where Mark Hamill is on home shopping network that was pretty funny.

Hopefully this will be allowed to be released. But I have to agree with what was said here that if it hasn't been found until now, odds are that this thing won't be found elsewere. But I'd love to be proven wrong. Hopefully Darth Neo can get permission to have this released to us. But I do understand why you aren't releasing it and it wouldn't be right to just go out and start copying it like mad and distributing it everywere. But I hope you do understand our excitement on seeing something new unearthed on this.

As for why it was never made public, it sounds like it was, sort of. At least one person here saw it in Canada, so it at least aired there. From other posted comments around, it sounds like it might of aired elsewere, maybe on some local stations. It is rare today, probably because it only was aired once, and never got a home video release, like SPFX:ESB did. So it got forgotten about, which would be easy to do, considering that due to the age, and the prominence of the similar SPFX:ESB special. But the ultimate reason why it was never released probably will never be known if your sources where you got the tape don't know. We can only guess.

Welcome to the forum and enjoy your stay!

I'm not sure. Until now, I would of said that anything that was aired would have been pretty much documented by now. But I can see how it might of gotten an airing or two on some local stations or something similar to this, or maybe even a basically unadvertised airing on PBS late at night or something similar. It sounds like it was aired, just not very widely.

Star Wars: Deleted Magic (Released)

Methinks Garrett's been at work here. Think she'll watch it?

Interesting picture. IIRC, OCPMovie said he gave a copy of Deleted Magic to Peter Mayhew at a convention or something like that. So at least two cast members have copies of it, assuming they didn't just toss them.
