I have no problem with you choosing whatever religious beliefs you want, and have many good friends of various religious beleifs. Ultimately, what you beleive is up to you and you shouldn't be shunned for it as long as it doesn't harm anyone else. The only problem I have is with those people in general who decide that all Christians are like Jerry Falwell, or other loudmouthed 'fundamentalists' and therefore all Christians are idiots, crazy, or mean-spirited. Just because I'm a Christian, doesn't mean I'm like Jerry Falwell, think Harry Potter is satanic, etc...

One reason is that many Democrats have thrown the whole "God approved" label as far away from them as they could. They seem to actively cater to the atheist crowd. There is a delicate balance that should be maintained on religious neutrality. Many Democrats have been extremely hostile to religion. Freedom of religion does not mean you have freedom from ever having to see anything even remotely related to religion.

As for the entire US congress professing belief in God, the vast majority of the US population does believe in God in some form as well. The cynic in me then says that its a vote getting ploy to get the most votes. The non-cynic says that its just that the people who are elected happen to all believe in God. I think that true athiests are very rare, at least in my experiences. Most people who call themselves athiests that I have talked to are actually agnostic.

Did Anakin's fall start with Qui-Gon?

Well, if that had been done right in the prequels, it would have worked perfectly. If you remember, most of Obi-Wan's advice and connection to Luke was based off of his mistakes as a young man. But, wait, I forgot, prequel Obi-Wan was perfect in every way and never made a mistake. But, yeah, if there had been a point in the prequels where Obi-Wan had given in to hate and came close to doing something evil, then it would have resonated well with that quote and been a contrast to Anakin, who was also confronted with choices and didn't resist.

I have to somewhat agree here. In ESB, when Yoda is arguing with Obi-Wan on training Luke, Obi-Wan says "was I any different when you trained me". Unless something happened that we all missed before Ep. I, how was Obi-Wan like Luke? We never really saw that. The only thing is that in the OT, it was much easier to turn to the dark side than the PT. Anakin was full of fear, anger, and hate throughout the PT, killed a tribe of Sandpeople in rage, killed Dooku in cold blood, and still doesn't turn to the dark side until he swears allegence to Palpatine. But yet Luke in ROTJ will turn dark if he kills the Emperor or Vader or stays mad too long? To me, the whole ROTJ throne room sequence doesn't make sense anymore with the PT.

Of course, I do like CO's comment on having Obi-Wan as an Anakin apologist. It seems like Qui-Gon actually started out like this, with his determination to train him because he is the chosen one, despite his obvious dangers that everyone else sees. They could of had Obi-Wan carry this on.

Its funny how if one looks at the PT, it seems like Yoda, not Obi-Wan is more responisible for Anakin's turning, and is the one who is wise because of the mistakes of his past. If he had been more accepting of Anakin, and less arrogant, things might have turned out differently.

I don't know, I kinda like it with Greedo. It shows that he was a bully, impulsive, and not too bright.

But yes, that scene served a good purpose, to show that Anakin was tempermental and quick-tempered. I don't think that Qui-Gon caused his fall. Sure, Qui-Gon used the force to cheat, but there was a greater good there in all those cases. Anakin misused the force because he could, without any greater reason.

Mandatory Tipping Poll

If the service was adequate, 15%. If it was awesome, 20%. Usually it falls somewhere in-between as I like to round the bottom line to whole dollars when practical.

For those who don't know the etiquette, you should tip on the pre-tax value of the meal, not the bottom line. Also, check the bill to see if the gratuity was automatically added in. That's often the case with large parties. My family all went out for Thanksgiving this year and the gratuity was added in. We almost missed that. Adding another 20% onto 20% would've been, what, a 45% tip in the end?

When service is really bad, if you don't tip at all, usually they server will usually just think you are cheap. If you tip something like a penny or a nickel, then they are more likely to get the point that their service sucked.

I don't like the automatic gratuity for large parties thing, but resturants do it because large parties have a nasty tendancy to take up lots of time, servers, and space, and then they never tip or tip really low, figuring that either "someone else must of got the tip" or that "the big order we gave makes up for it."

I've actually never seen the '70's TV series, and didn't even know there was one until I saw it on wikipedia. I didn't figure it was that great, or it would of gotten a DVD release or be in syndication. But not having comic book villians in and of itself doesn't make it lousy. Lex Luthor or any of the other comic book villians ever show up in the George Reeves' Adventures of Superaman TV series, and its still good. I don't believe that any of the comic book villians ever showed up in the Wonder Woman TV series either. (Why do they do that sort of thing?) Still, if anyone has it on VHS or something, it might be worthwile to transfer to DVD, along with the Electric Company bits. After all, even if it sucks, its Spider-man, and there are plenty of hard-core fans who would love it.

They're STILL not in stores.

Funny, isn't it? You can find a PS3 most anywere now, but Wii's are still near-impossible to find. Does this say something about the popularity of the PS3?

The whole Final Fantasy series has been on the downward slide recently. Final Fantasy X-2, and Final Fantasy XI both were horrible as well.

Yoda - " Vader, you must confront Vader. Then, and only then, a Jedi will you be" - or some shit like that.

But why? It's not that other Jedi's had to face Sith's to become Jedi's, so why Luke. And this was before Yoda confirmed Vader was Lukes Daddy.

???

Don't know about what the EU has to say about it, but killing/stopping a Sith must count as an automatic knighthood. Obi-Wan got to skip the trials because he killed Darth Maul. So maybe taking care of Vader will allow Luke to do the same.

Lost Prequel Ideas
Time
I know what I thought the prequels would have that never materialized. I wanted to see Vader, in the suit, hunting down Jedi. I also figured that the Grand Moff Tarkin would have some sort of role, and probably a pretty important one, basically to explain why Tarkin can tell Vader off and he doesn't just kill him like he would any other imperial officer. Another one is that I expected Jabba the Hutt to also play some sort of role, due to the fact that the force doesn't work on him, and I figured for some reason that the empire made some sort of deal with him, maybe getting his help in the Jedi purge, in exchange for them letting him operate unhindered. Alas, none of these happened.

No, its understandable if you've ever seen the Mel Brook's movie Spaceballs. There was a scene were Col. Sanders says that there has been a new breakthrough in home video technology. Movies are now available on video even before they are finished making them. So maybe Lucas has gotten a hold of that technology and is using it.

Stupid Star Wars Questions
Time
OK, my take on some of the questions-
What was Vader a lord of?
He's a dark lord of the sith. Yes, the empire is secular, but ultimately, the Emperor is a commited sith, and can pretty much decree anything he wants. So he gives Vader the official title. As for his official role, the emperor put Vader there in as his personal representative, and gave him whatever military resources he needed to recover the Death Star plans and later crush the rebellion. Thats all the authority he needs.

How could Tarkin have destroyed Alderaan?
He was Grand Moff, but he was also a military officer, commanding officer of the Death Star, tasked with destroying the rebellion. It was in this capacity that he had the authority to do most anything he wanted to. Also, Tarkin could safely tell Darth Vader off. To be able to do that, one had to be pretty close to the Emperor. So its doubtful that the regional govenor over Alderaan is going to complain much.

What was the point of Echo Base?
The Rebellion probably has too many space fighters and other equiptment to carry on their spacecraft and to store it all in outer space, so they need a base of some sort to operate out of. They can't simply stay in deep space. They need a land base as well. So I'm guessing its basically a giant gas station/repair station/storage facility. Plus, the higher ups in the rebel alliance love riding around on tauntans.

Why didn't the Imperial garrison reinforce the bunker on Endor?
I don't see the problem here. The empire had plenty of Stormtroopers there to handle the situation until the ewoks unexpectedly got involved. They didn't bring out the AT-ATs because they are too big and would end up doing more damage to their own side than the rebels, and it was probably impossible to get them to manuver in the dense forest. So that left only ground troops and the light AT-STs. The troops came in and were slaughtered by ewoks.
