.: The Lancer DVD Project :. (* unfinished project *)

I think that having both a DTS 5.1 track and the PCM Dolby Surround track would be unnecissary repitition. The only problem with DTS only would be some people's players can't play DTS. But the DTS does have the same bitrate as the PCM. One would have to see if there is really that much of an audible difference.
Sure, the 5.1 track is created, but if done right, the discrete channels should be better than matrixed, even with Pro-Logic. Therefore, I vote for either B or C.

This sounds like a great project. Good job so far, Tellan! As far as the soundtracks go, I would think that with DTS 5.1, why is the PCM needed? I would suggest putting in the mono soundtrack, for the many audio differences, with the DTS and drop the PCM audio. It would be a repeat of the same audio. A well-done DTS track would be great to have on a set.

EDIT: After thinking a bit, would there be any notible difference in audio quality by going with Dolby 5.1, given the source is PCM audio?. Dolby is much smaller, after all.

I think this is happeing, to an extent. It seems to me that The Phantom Menace was really disliked at first, but now people have mellowed and are starting to like it more. Sure, JarJar is still just as hated, but once the unrealistically high expectations wore off, people don't dislike it as much anymore. Now Clones I think has gone down a bit in people's estimation. Have to see about III. But I doubt the prequels will ever reach the level of the classic trilogy. But since they are attached to the classic, they won't be be forgotten, like they more likely would have if they were some generic sci-fi film.

Most Underrated Console System
Time
The Atari Lynx. I guess technically it was a portable, and not a console, but still. It had 16 bit color graphics, when the major home console was the NES. Technically it blew the game boy out of the water, but alas, it was made by Atari and had very few third-party game support. But there were still some good games for it, such as California Games, Battlezone 2000, Ninja Gaiden and Gauntlet.

Blu-Ray Attacks Microsoft, Microsoft Bites Back
Time
The article linked says that the blu-ray discs 50 GB maximum that Sony claims isn't acheiveable yet. Maybe Microsoft is giving more HD-DVD hype, but the only real counter to it is blu-ray hype that isn't really any more credible. It seems like both formats are a lot of smoke and mirrors, but nothing really definite yet. I agree that HD-DVD is probably not really closer to market than blu-ray, but until things get closer, its a bit premature to say one is better than the other. All we really have to go on is marketing hype and what major studio/manufacturer is backing who.
What I would like to see is a unified standard. There were some talks between the two groups, but they didn't produce anything. But hopefully something will come up and have one unified standard that has the best of both worlds. But I guess I won't be expecting them to actually happen.

The problem with blu-ray is that they have big claims of superiority, such as data storage, but the reality is that they can't actually reach these statements. Many of these claims are based on lab tests and theoretical maximums, not real-world conditions or what is actually possible. HD-DVD is much closer to market, but neither is really ready yet. I'm sceptical of either format meeting their claims, but blu-ray moreso.

Making the Joker the killer worked, because remember most people seeing the film had never heard of Joe Chill or had any idea who killed Bruce Wayne's parents beyond some stick-up man. Joe Chill would of taken too much screen time, and as said before, more time to develop the Joker/Batman vendetta. So making the Joker the killer worked for the movie. Maybe not correct, but easier.
