So did Christopher Knight and Adrenne Curry. I can buy one reality show hookup, but two in a row? Oh, well. Meet someone on a reality show, get your own reality show.

This 2007 Archival Edition - For Real Or Not ???
Time
I think that everyone is making assumptions that Lucas will do something for the 30th anniversary. Beyond that, no one really knows. The problem with the Archival edition is that Lucas is already re-releasing the DVD set this year, and everyone is making fun of it for "double-dipping" Unless it is Blu-ray/HD-DVD or whatever new techology comes along, I'm not sure it will happen. Yet more changes won't really be enough to sell more DVDs, either.

spider-man 3

I thought I heard that most everyone associated with Spider-Man(Producer,Director, stars, etc) only has 3 film contracts. So if this is the case, it might be impossible/cost prohibitive to get 4-6 done. But I could be wrong. I don't really remember where I heard this, and can't find anything supporting it.

There is nothing worse in the film world than remakes, but the second place in the hierarchy of idiocy is occupied by belated, unwanted sequels that no logic accepts (especially when you have a self-standing trilogy that opens and closes itself perfectly), that only a couple of "fans" actually demand, and that only gets considered because it's easy money. There are about four exceptions where a sequel was actually good enough to be comparable to the original,
there are exactly three cases where the sequel was better (Godfather II, Bride of Frankenstein, Star Trek II), and there are a few cases where a sequel is so different that it makes an excellent film on its own (Return to Oz), but 99,99% of the cases are cash-in trash. The Indy IV crowd probably consists of the same ones that are now wondering "duh, me want know when Peter Jackson shoot Lord of the Rings IV, duuh". (Of course, half of Hollywood executives ejaculate over that very same idea, too)

Agreed. I'd love to see an Indy IV that was equal to the others, but would rather not see the Indiana Jones equiviant of Terminator III, or some other crummy, cash-in on a good name sequel.

Return of the Jedi + Revenge of the Sith = one amazing movie!

Sadly, Lucas painted himself into a corner on this one. If he had Padme take Leia away, perserving the "she died when I was very young" it would of made everyone even more mad. Everyone would be asking "What ever happened to Padme? Why is she dead?" So you had to have her die, to provide closure on the character, and to explain why Vader isn't still looking for her.

As for how to view it, having the prequels cut into the original trilogy is the only was I can think of to do it and have it perserve the secrets. The "Godfather II" method would do this. But since I've seen it, I would guess the best way would be I-VI. For a new person, I would recommend release order. IV-VI, I-III.

Changes you want (or don't want) to the 2007 archival editions
Time
I think that the official line from Lucasfilm is that not all Stormtroopers in the original Trilogy are clones. They are a mix of recruits and clones. Plus, by the time of the original trilogy, Jango is dead, so no more genetic template. So in addition, the clones are taken from many different sources, not just Jango Fett. So it wouldn't make sense that Temura Morrison would be the voice of all stormtroopers. Please leave them alone. The major changes I would like to see would be things like fix the Luke's lightsaber coloring on the Falcon , the reversed sound channels, some of the flaky sounding audio, etc. Those "creative decisions" that were made for the 2004 DVDs. I won't even bother to ask for the o-ot because I know that isn't going to happen, so there is no use.

Prequel total rewrites...?

It seems that the Sith use a "love 'em and leave 'em" tactic against each other and that as soon as they can't use you anymore, they kill you or let you be killed. You bring up a good example of Dooku. Anyways, Palpy has control of the entire galaxy at this point and leaving Vader around only seems to be asking for a betrayal. Especially since he failed to deliver on the one promise that brought Anakin over to the dark side...

But I've already said that I don't think Vader has any reason to a) not kill Palpatine at that point or b) stay on the dark side at all as it's portrayed in L'sPT.

Palpatine has to keep Vader around. He still needs someone to carry on the Sith after he is gone. In ROTS, he brags to Yoda how his apprentice will be more powerful than either of them. If he was purely motivated by keeping himself alive, he could of just found some random weaking jedi to turn sith or leave Anakin to die after the Obi-Wan duel. But he wanted someone who he knew he couldn't beat, because he was the most powerful available. Sure, he wants to maintain power, but he is also loyal to the Sith way and knows that he must have someone to carry on the Sith legacy, even though that meant he would eventually be killed. Maybe he thought he wouldn't be killed by his apprentice like the rest.
I don't buy into the whole "suited Vader is a weakling" argument, though. The way I see it, Vader is still very deadly, but more vunerable because he is dependent on a life-support suit, and one that proves can be shorted out by sith lightning.

Info Wanted: Just wondering... re acquiring a digital copy of something I already own?

The best version depends on who you ask. I personally like the Cowclops the best, because it has the uncompressed PCM sound from the laserdisc and as a result I think it sounds the best. Other good sets are Dr. Gonzo set, the Editdroid set, and Dark Jedi's DE set. Rowman's supplementals are great and very worthwile. They have many trailers, several interviews, making of documentaries, and other goodies. I guess it depends on if that sort of stuff interests you or if you are just interested in the movies.

spider-man 3
Time
I'm not sure it is that Spiderman is inherently better suited for a series than other superhero/comic movies as much as they haven't messed it up yet. Batman and Superman both started out with lots of hope for the future, but started to fizzle out at 3. At least Spiderman has thus far avoided two major pitfalls: No changes of director, and no comedians as villians. So I do hold out hope that Spiderman can keep going longer than the others. I guess I'm just would of perferred for them to have used at least one of the future villians they introducted in 2, instead of the seeming "easter eggs" for comics fans to notice.
