I think there is several things going on in this scene. Sidious has grown so arrogant that perhaps he thinks he should have two apprentices. This is the view I've had from childhood. (Stupid prequels for introducing the rule of two thing) The other is that Sidious is playing Luke and Vader off each other. Sort of a test for the two of them. The survivor gets to be the apprentice. He is just after the most powerful one, whoever it may be. Of course, this brings up the question, why replace Vader, who Sidious had powerful control over, with Luke, who he has almost none?

The Jedi/Feta Definitive Collection (Released)
Time
I haven't yet seen the Faces set, so I can't comment on that discussion, but I personally thought that DJ's Definitive Collection and SE sets were very well done. And after seeing what Boba Feta did with SE menus, I think that this could be one of the best o-ot trilogy sets yet. And it has the stereo track, mono mix and isolated score, on one disc. Whats not to like?

Just like I cannot see the CGI Yoda and the puppet Yoda as the same character, I cannot reconcile the 2004 or Sith Emperor with the ROTJ Emperor. I try, but I can't.

I agree. The first time I saw this I thought that the emperor looks nothing like he does in ROTJ. I can even forgive his looking really different in ROTS, because it is over 20-25 years later that we see him again, but not in ESB. The dialouge I don't mind too much, but I have too much of a hard time getting past the crummy makeup.

Didn't know there was a making of Superman III. Was it originally a TV special, like most of the making of's from this time period? Hope to see it on a torrent soon.

Reasons to hate the Special Editions
Time
Please, no more changes. Didn't we have enought already?
I actually hate the Jabba the Hutt scenes in ANH worse than the Greedo shoots first. Not that like Greedo shooting first, but the Jabba scene is a repeat of the dialouge in the Greedo scene, and it makes Jabba look like a cheap, stupid hood instead of the vile intergalactic crime boss he is in ROTJ. Not to mention the CGI Jabba looks horrible in the '97 special editions, and not much better in 2004 DVD, and nothing like the ROTJ Jabba. Also, do we need a birth of the New Republic scenes? No more Emperor, Vader, etc means no empire. I don't think it is nessicary to spell it out, and slow down the ending of ROTJ.

The future Star Wars TV series
Time
I'm also worried about the series. The rise of the empire as the time frame? About bounty hunters? It seems like it won't be "Star Wars" without jedi. Of course, we can't expect too many familar faces, also, except maybe a guest apperance by Boba Fett or some other like character. So far it seems to be like it will be a generic sci-fi series that just happens to take place in the Star Wars universe. Then there is the fact that Lucas hasn't had good luck with TV, such as the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. But I really really hope I'm wrong. I'd love a good Star Wars TV show. I'm just sceptical about it being any good.

THE SUPER SPAM THREAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As bing a SW fan I am, I'll watch Star Trek anytime. They're pretty even in my mind, but there's just so much Star Trek....it's so much more all-encompassing.

In a related note, anyone watch "How William Shatner Changed the World" last night?

I like Star Trek. I've never understood why there is such the rivarly between the two franchises. The original cast was the best, but TNG was good. Voyager was ok as well, but not quite up to the previous shows. Unfortunately, it seemed to have fell victim to "cash-in on a good name" and the result was the horrible show Enterprise. They figured that they had such a dedicated following that they could slap any old peice of junk show together and it would be a hit. I'm really afraid that will be the fate of the Star Wars TV series, but that is for another thread...

They require the Field Sequential shutter glasses to view (as opposed to the old red & blue) but they're not too bad at all qualitywise.

PM me if you're interested

excuse my ignorance, but what is field sequential shutter glasses? I remember the old red&blue glasses for 3D movies.

Some guy is selling Superman 3 on eBay for $22.99US

Whats the story on someone viewing Superman IV on TV with first nuclear man scenes? this a hoax right? He said he couldn't tape it because his vcr was broken !! A longer version will pop up one day. They always do.

I'm not sure what scenes this person is talking about, but there was supposed to be some extended/extra scenes with the first nuclear man. Some photos have popped up of these scenes, but they are supposed to be long lost. I think it might of had a viewing or two, but definitely not on TV or anything like that. What is available is on the Superman IV extended that is talked about here. It could be a hoax, mistaken, or a "I saw the Biggs scenes in the theatre!" type thing.

ANH will have three soundtracks: Defcol, Isolated & a Hybrid Mono Mix.

Sounds like a great set. What is hybrid mono mix?

sorry for the ramble, just dont want you to get discouraged, like i almost did,now i dont care who likes my versions and who doesnt
keep up the great work

I agree that Editdroid set seems to be overrated. But I think that the Dark Jedi Transfers were great. And yes, I am looking forward to this set, if for nothing else than it has every audio option one could ever want, and I'm looking forward to getting a copy of this and seeing it when it is finished.
