They should have allowed a top-out preorder count of 10-12 for release day and the rest be told that they would receive from second or third shipment. Then, after removing the preorder units from your inventory, you print up tickets for the rest that you give to the first however many people you have in line. And you make it clear to everyone else that they may as well go home because they're not getting one.

It's stupidity is what it is. On the part of the stores.

But they want to have a shortage on opening day. If there is no shortage, there won't be a rush to grab them, no camping out overnight, etc. This means no press coverage. Its all a part of hyping the system. It gets people who are sitting on the fence about buying one excited about it, not to mention the fans of the system. Plus, the lines on opening day may get your store in the news=free advertising. Basically, it benifits everyone but the consumers.

Who does Microsoft presume to be that they can rob people of time? I left my house early to get a 360 on launch day, and was turned away at 8 different stores because they were sold out.

So there's 6 hours of my life given to Xbox 360 which I'll never get back.

Further, retailers are total assholes. I stood in front of a store in the freezing cold for an hour before an employee came out and said, "Despite the fact that we advertised the system, we got one in." So the guy in the front of the line was happy, but the 20 behind were downright mutinous.

It's just not fair - the industry is now being run by pre-orders, and they can't even fill those. So I trek all over the place like a frigging idiot looking for one of these things, in everything from big box retailers to mom & pop stores, and I see boxes of them behind the counter - all for pre-orders.

Lesson learned I guess, but mark my words - this outrage will bite Microsoft in the ass. Poorly played Big M.

Do you think that Sony will do any better with the PS3? I really doubt it. They won't have any on hand for opening day, either.

"You don't know the power of the dark side! I must obey my master"
Time
Am I the only one who thinks that maybe we saw a bit too much of the power of the dark side? Or at least we should of seen more powers of the light side. In ESB, Luke asks if the dark side is stronger, Yoda says no, only easier and more seductive. But most every time in the PT, the dark side beats the light hands down. Plus, the dark side can limit the ability of the light to sense things? I would of liked a bit more of a balanced approach to things. It seems like in the PT, the dark side is much more powerful.

Yoda & Emperor PT vs OT
Time
I think that somewere between ROTJ and TPM, Lucas forgot how to make puppets. Yoda in the OT was great. The puppet in TPM was terrible. There is no excuse for it.
As for the Emperor's look in ROTS, if you compare how Palpatine looks in AOTC, it looks like they started with the darkside corruption/rapid aging, then decided to shift to the goofy force lighting scarred him. He looks younger in ROTS to me than he did in AOTC. I don't see why they needed to have him get really old really fast for ROTS. Just have him look older still. After all, it was 25 years between ROTS and ESB. And the ESB makeup looks nothing like the ROTJ Emperor anyway. Did Lucas even bother to watch ROTJ before designing the makeup? Maybe that will be the next change. Making ROTJ emperor look like ROTS/ESB emperor.

TV Shows on DVD
Time
I have the first two seasons of Have Gun Will Travel. That was a '60's western that I watched with my Dad on saturday afternoon reruns. It features a gunfighter named Paladin, who had a card with a chess knight on it. It is a great show and one that has been sadly forgotten for the most part. Waiting patiently for the third season to come out in January. I also have the first season of Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.

Just thought of something...
Time
I think the difference is that these games are available. Yes, there are updates, but there are also the originals. And, for a some of the "remakes", its the exact same game, but with new graphics. If all Lucas did was fix some of the bad mattes, transparent cockpits of the snowspeeders, etc, I would be fine with it. But the originals are effectively buried. Its a different movie now. The only "offical" versions available now is the 2004 DVD versions. They've dumped the original trilogy, and even the '97 special edition. I would perfer that Lucas would stop "updating" it. But I could live with almost any changes Lucas wants to dream up if he makes the originals available too. So I'm not sure its really comparable. But the good news is that there are several people who have perserved the originals to DVD.

The Jedi/Feta Definitive Collection (Released)
Time
I for one would love to see this one released. I have a copy of your Definitive Collection capture and I thought that it was great, in fact I liked it better than I did the editdroid set. Now with Boba Feta's great menus, and the choice of the 35/70mm sound mix, mono mix, and isolated soundtrack, this looks like it will be one of the best sets ever. There will always be some people who gripe about things, but I think that this will be an awesome set and think you did a great job, Dark Jedi.

HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE

So because someone is Christian they automatically dislike this Potter stuff?

Everything has to be "dark" these days; saying your film is "dark" makes good advertising buzz.

Just because someone is christian doesn't mean that dislike Harry Potter. I am a christian that likes Harry Potter. Some people said it was about witchcraft and what-not, and doesn't have the LOTR style christian overtones, its bad, but most christians don't think that way.

A suggestion, Boba Feta, would be if ithe menus don't already have it somewere, maybe you ought to have a quick explination of what the Hybrid mix is, since it is unique to this release. If it isn't too much trouble to change. It is just one of those "nice to have" things that I just thought of, but nothing major.

If it is on the DVD cover it might not be needed. If you really felt it was important, you could make it Hybrid 'mono' Mix, or something like that. But I'm not sure I would. Great work, Boba!
