Video and Article: Rep Won't Let Customer Cancel AOL Account
Time
You have to be careful in telling cell phone companies that you are moving to an area with no coverage. It used to work sometimes, but they've figured out that the only people who 'move' to these areas are those who just want out of their contracts, and demand that you send them copies of some utilities bill with your name, the address and ZIP code on that is from the non-covered area before they will cancel service.
If you want another AOL story, read this account of a person who tried to cancel her late mother's AOL service, and the company refused.

AOL is supposed to be one of the worst services to cancel. Its a bit better when you refuse to give a reason why you want to cancel, but not by much.

Peter Jackson the new Luca$???
Time
Sure, there have been plenty of releases for LOTR, too many perhaps in the short period of time between the theatrical releases and now. But there is a major difference as to why think Jackson and Lucas are different. There is a theatrical release available, and a high-quality one. Until now, there was only the 04 SE available. Now the OOT is getting released, but as a 'special feature' and with questionable quality. In addition, PJ hasn't ran the theatrical versions of his movies down and claimed the "original vision" bit. So I say that he is ok. I don't see how he is the same as Lucas.
In addition, saying that there is only one SW trilogy released isn't quite true. There was the '04 DVDs with bonus disc, then the '05 DVDs without bonus disc, now the upcoming September release with the films packaged individually and the OOT as a bonus disc. Only the last release has something new. All the LOTR sets have had something different on them. Different films, different bonus features, etc.

Info Wanted: Indiana Jones documentaries?
Time
Welcome, ComradeJonns.
Myspleen should be coming back in the near future. As I hear it, they are getting close to getting enough donations to bring it back up. I'm not sure which making of documentaries you are looking for, but DigitalFreakNYC has a the Making of Raiders of the Lost Ark, Great Movie Stunts:Raiders of the Lost Ark, Great Adventurers and their Quests:Making of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and even the Making of Indiana Jones and Temple of Doom, taken from a PBS airing. As far as I know, it never made it to home video in any form. If your looking for the Indiana Jones documentaries, look these up.

Say the SE release in theaters bombed in 1997?
Time
I personally loved to SE release in 1997, but it was for the reasons said before, I was just happy to see the Star Wars Trilogy in a theatre. I didn't get to see Star Wars in theatres during the original relase, being a little kid at the time, and was happy to see them. I even didn't mind the stupid Jabba scene in Star Wars put in and Jedi Rocks. It wasn't until I got the SEs on VHS that I really began to notice how bad the new scenes were.

Superman Movie

I hated Superfriends and the later 90's version. To me, all the Superheros exist in their own universe. Crossovers are a fan fiction and cheepen the franchise.

I simply could not stand to see Batman and Superman and Wonder Woman all sitting at some confrence table in space trying to figure out how best to save the world. To me, that was totally stupid. In my brain there are no cross overs. To each his own universe.

EDIT: Also, when the hell are they going to make a Wonder Woman movie? I swear, it better not suck ass. I'll be pissed if it does.

Superfriends wasn't very good, but cross-overs have been a part of Superman since the beginning. In fact, on the Superman radio show during the 1940's, Batman appeared frequently as a guest star. It was his first apperance outside the comics, and introduced them as friends. The strange thing was that the Batman guest apperances were frequently used to give the stars of the Superman show time off. But as long as the cross-overs aren't too over the top (Superfriends) they are fine.

As for a Wonder Woman movie, I'd like to see one too, but I'd be afraid that it would be another Catwoman.

2006 OT Bonus DVD Material question

Try myspleen. Dr. Gonzo made the four classic documentaries(Making of Star Wars, SPFX: Empire Strikes Back, Classic Creatures:Return of The Jedi, and From Star Wars to Jedi) as a two DVD set. Also, they are on Rowmans Extras discs, which also contain lots of other worthwhile stuff to watch.

On the topic of contradictions, my favorite is the lines in "From Star Wars to Jedi" where Lucas talks about Special Effects: "A special effect without a story is a pretty boring thing" or something like that. The whole speech is actually pretty funny after seeing the preqels.

Help Wanted: with my small OT preservation project ...
Time
I think deleted magic has all the deleted scenes that were actually filmed and available.
The six-track mix: it would actually be a 4.1 mix on a modern home theatre, not 5.1. The six channels were right front, left front, center, rear surround, and two low frequency channels. Since today's systems don't have this set-up, the two low frequencies would need to be combined into one channel. As far as I know, the six channel mix is the same as the standard 35 mm mix as far as audio differences go. But I could be wrong about that one. Now ESB had several differences in audio in the 6 channel mix, but that is another story...
The original theatrical stereo mix is available on the pre-Definitive edition laserdiscs and VHS releases, I think. The sound mix was redone for the defenitive edition laserdisc release. Since Editdroid is taken from the definitive edition, it would have the newer mix. I'm not sure there really is much differences between the two, but for the pure original theatrical stereo mix, one could take the audio from Rikter's DVDs, that were taken from the widescreen laserdiscs.

The Chronology of How My love for Lucas has fallen
Time
Yes, in the prequels, Yoda became a parody of himself. It was quite sad.

I don't really hate Lucas. After all, he did bring us the OT. So I still give him credit for that. Heck, even though I didn't like most of the changes in the SE, I'll still give Lucas credit for bringing the OT back to theatres, to give us who were a bit too young to watch the original releases to see it on the big screen. I can even forgive Episode I. But what goes too far for me is Lucas's own bashing of his original work, and the refusal to release a quality O-OT on DVD.
However, as has been said before, Lucas has turned to the dark side. Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny....

Well, he is pretty damned scarred, with or without eyebrows. I mean, I wouldn't pick him for Mr. Universe or as a Coca-Cola poster boy.

No, but he was in pretty good shape for having gone through everything he did at the end of ROTS.
But what I meant was that Anakin was originally going to be much rougher than he was.

Shame, disney is sitting on a vista series Warren Betty started to put together in 2002, but they pulled away the budget he wanted to produce the dvd, evidently it was going to be an extended edit aswell.

I didn't know that they were going to put together a better DVD for Dick Tracy. It would of been great to have this released. Maybe someday, but I doubt it. But one can hope...

As for what is he doing in that egg thing, I tend to go for the meditation idea, although the idea of the egg also being a sort of life support booth works too. Why can't it be both - he's meditating in a life support booth. As for why they had that scene in the movie, I'll go with Kersh's explanation, but Lucas' makes sense too. You have to remember that back in 1980, nobody really knew a whole lot about Vader. I suppose there could have been one or 2 people in the audience who thought he was a robot (and therefore his 'I am you father' speech would have seemed a bit odd).

I agree. In 1980, there were all sorts of rumors about Vader, and one of them was that he was a droid. If you think he may not be human, the rest of the movie doesn't make sense, or you go with the easy"he's lying" explination. In addition, I think that they were setting up for a much more mutilated Anakin that didn't end up happening. I think I've heard in the early drafts of ROTJ, Anakin is described as being so scarred that he is barely recognizable as human.
