$10 for Ultimate DOOM, DOOM II, and Final DOOM will get you thousands of fan-made levels and missions beyond your wildest dreams. In fact, DOOM is one of , possibly THE greatest, PC games ever made!

Here's a link to prove my point.

And if it looks too dated, download JDOOM and stock up with high-res models and textures. You can also get MP3 music and sound for the game as well.

I play Doom occasionaly on my Atari Jaguar still. It is a great game. Anyone here ever see the TV commercial for Doom for the Jaguar? It was really funny. Ingo Sucks should especially like it, since he is a big Doom fan. I've seen it online before, and I'll have to see if I can find a link to it.

Didn't know that you were a theatre major, Gaffertape. My sister is was one, and is now in LA trying to be an actress. Break a leg!
As for singing Ariel, it might be ok. Only you know what they are looking for. So if you think it will work, and if you are confident in it, go for it.

Your Greatest Star Wars Day.
Time
The single day that stands out in my mind is when I saw the Star Wars Special Edition in the theatres a couple of days after the premere. I know, it was the SE, and even changes and all, it was the first time I got to see Star Wars in the theatres. I never got to see Star Wars in theatres when it was out originally (too little for SW, and my parents wouldn't take me to see ESB or ROTJ). So it was great to see it there, even if there was a bunch of silly additions.

Was there an ESB arcade game?

Atari 2600 ESB was horrible? Never! I love that game. One of the best for the Atari 2600, IMHO. I still play it sometimes.
As for the ESB arcade game, I've played it on MAME before. Its not bad. IIRC, ESB was never really released seperately, just as a conversion kit for the original Star Wars game. That also really hurt sales, and I think it was also released very late, around the video game crash, and that also made sales low. So it is quite rare today. Fortunately, it is avalable through the wonders of emulation.

A Question to the Older Members
Time
I noticed some of the worst of the effects as kid, such as the black lines around the rancor in ROTJ, and the orange blob below the landspeeder in ANH, but I can't say that it bothered me. I never noticed things like the transparent canopies of the snowspeeders in ESB until Lucas went out of his way to point them out to us all during all they '97 SE making of hype specials that came on around that time.
Even with the effects I notice now, I can't say it bothered me when I first saw it, nor does it now. Maybe part of it was that at the time, that was the state of the art effects, and the standard. You couldn't find "better". So I never really looked for the flaws. Today, maybe people notice issues because our expectations have gone up, and if someone who never saw the OT, but watched the prequels or some other modern sci-fi, or maybe even something a bit older like T2, then saw the OT, might notice the effects issues more than someone who grew up watching Star Wars first.
I think its somewhat silly to be put off by the special effects stuff. I'm also a fan of old 40's and 50's sci-fi such as Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers, etc, and that stuff looks terrible by modern standards. You can see the wires holding up the ships, etc. But it didn't bother people of the day, because these things were very popular, and are still enjoyed by many. Basically, I think that the noticability of special effects stuff is somewhat determined by what you grew up with.

EDIT: I just thought of something else: I think that it also depends on how much you look for mistakes. Some people just have to find mistakes, and aren't happy until they do. Others can gloss over them.

Info: My son, the fan editor...

Agreed. Editing something to your liking is one thing. Destroying the original is something else. Ultimately, we are all here because George Lucas destroyed the O-OT in making the SE. If you want to help you son and let him know that there are constructive ways to do what he wants to do, maybe make copies of the book and have him talk to you first before destroying the original. Just my humble suggestion. But I am impressed that he is doing things like that. Shows that you have a creative son there.

Didn't mean it as a "fanboy rationalization factor". Just trying my best to respond to things using Lucas's strange logic.

I'll try to play devils advocate for a minute and go with Lucas's story that Anakin was 'dead' when he became Darth Vader.
Anakin wasn't ever totally 'dead'. He was mostly dead, which is different from dead dead (If you've ever seen the movie "Princess Bride" there was a line that goes something like that, which makes sense in this case). Or at least he got 'resurrected'.
So Anakin, not Vader, threw the Emperor down the shaft, and Vader wasn't going to try to assume the Sith mastership.
Yes, in the end it comes down to Lucas overexplaning things and boxing himself in on other things, but something like that might make sense...

I am not too interested in fan edited films, but I will go to that "alternate universe" if just to able to talk with old friends. You can talk about more than just fan edits there. There's on off topics section, a Star Wars section, a Star Trek section, and a general Sci-Fi section. I shall continue to post to OT.com and the "alternate universe".

I agree that this is a sad situation. It is too bad that it happened, and I wish there could be some reconciliation, but it seems too late for that.

Now, I could always move Vader to Episode V and put Sidious on III. Maybe I'll just use a pic of Qui-gon and Obi-wan for I. Episode IV I'm using the droids and Luke on VI.

Sokudo Ningyou: When the saga is done, I'll probably release the template for others to use if you don't mind waiting awhile.

Why not have Darth Maul for Episode I, Count Dooku for Episode II, and Sidious for Episode III? Those were the main villians for those movies, at least the ones that were most seen. A generic clone trooper would be boring, IMHO. I think that Dooku would be more interesting. Just my thoughts.
