Paint Wars: A New Hope
Time
Originally posted by: ZigFried
Honestly though, I really don't feel like working on this anymore. Now that I've got Broadband, a new favorite game of all time (DOOM), and the Thief and the Cobbler, I spend all the time playing DOOM 3 online and watching all the wonderful versions of the Thief.

The only way you'll get me to work on this again is:

1. You remove all my procrastination posts, because they don't look very good.
2. You create a petition signed by at least 75 people asking me to finish this. Because 2 or 3 isn't convincing enough...

I thought that Paint Wars was pretty funny and would like to see it continue, but these demands are stupid. Remove procrastination posts because they don't make you look good? Posts like this don't make you look good either.

ANH screening with modelmaker Lorne Peterson...WHY ARE THEY SCREENING THE SE??

I remember I had this really cool model that the team loved and had to get in there... it's been replaced by computer graphics now." Best way to spread the word.

This would be pretty funny, actually. Too bad I doubt that they would do this if there was a chance he would badmouth the SE. They probably have him paid off to talk about how his models were good for 1977, but how much more impressive the CGI of today is. Still, I think this would be interesting to see. What is this, exactly? A program on TV? A live event? Will it be recorded in any way and perserved? It would be great to have.

The Persecution Season is Heating Up

So, since Christians percecuted other religions back in the middle ages, Christians today deserve anything they get? That doesn't make sense. If you are upset about stuff that Christians did back in the middle ages, blame those who did it, not modren Christians. It isn't right for anyone to seek to silence another's expression of religious views. People of the Jewish and other faiths have equal access to public forums to display their religious icons, and the 'radical religious right' as you put it hasn't done anything against it. No, not everyone wants to be a Christian. Yes, Christians realize that. But it seems like that athiests need to figure out that not everyone wants to be an athiest either.

What did the Prequel Trilogy need?
Time
Not that I mean to defend the prequels too much, but to be fair, by the point he force-chokes her, he has turned to the dark side. Who's to say what the influence that the dark side would have on someone, especially someone as emotional as Anakin was before he turned. I would think that he would be extremely emotional and unpredictable after turning and very prone to violent outbursts that he would later regret, such as killing Padme. So I don't see the inconsistency here.

Help Wanted: Request - Star Wars episodes IV, V, VI & 1997 Special Editions

I got the 5 Star Collection Wide Screen Enhanced versions I stupidly bought on ebay before finding this great site. I can see about getting approved to upload it to myspleen and I can keep it there for about a week seeded, but hopefully someone can take it over after the week is up. I turn my PC off during the day and night, but would be willing to leave it on 24 hours for the week. If you guys are interested, let me know.

I'd love to see this. If you can't get upload permission on myspleen, maybe you should try demonoid or piratebay.

Btw, speaking of Myspleen, was I the only one that was shocked that the site managed to raise enough money to pay for three months of uptime this last time around? As fucked up as it's been lately, I figured it was toast.

I agree. I would like to see this on a torrent. Maybe sometime it will make it up to demonoid or piratebay or somewhere similar

I agree with JediSage. The other thing is that the constitution says we have freedom of religion, not freedom from religion. The goverment is supposed to be neutral towards religion, not hostile towards it and seeking to supress it. There is a fine line between advocating a particular religious view, and being hostile towards religion, and thus advocating athiesm. This, in my opinion, goes too far.

Idea: Revenge of the Sith: Extended Edition

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Clone Wars end with Shaak Ti chasing after Grevious after he kidnapped Palpatine? So I don't see the contradiction. Of course, it has been a while since I've seen Clone Wars, and I could be mistaken.
Another supposed deleted scene has her meditating in the Jedi Temple, where Vader/Anakin cuts her down from behind. There is a picture of Vader/Anakin standing behind her, but the scene never appeared on the DVD. That scene would of been good to include in an extended DVD, but I don't think its available.

PS3 or Wii?

Hey, Zion, when you get a chance, tell us how Red Steel is, okay.

It's getting pretty middling reviews so far, so I expect it to be worth no more than a rental.

I'll let you know as soon as I play it, which hasn't happened yet. Wii Sports and Zelda won't let me move on to another game yet.

Zion, what do you think of the Wii controller and Zelda swordfights? I was wondering if it worked well, or if it was, to take an idea from a previous post, a stupid powerglove-style gimmick.

"Black Friday" SW DVD Sales...Wow, Did Some of You...

So what does this price drop tell us? IMO one of three things: 1) retailers had a hard time moving them and have a lot left over or 2) they sold so well that retailers know this lower price will be an even bigger smash and/or 3) there is something MUCH bigger in the works for '07 and once that drops, these won't move at all. Yes, the sales pitch from day one was "Dec. 31st they will be GONE!" But will retailers really pull the ones that didn't sell off of their shelves? I highly doubt it...

I think the price drop is due to #1 so that they can fulfill their "promise" that they'll be gone by year's end. Otherwise they have to come up with a spin on yet another falsehood.

The problem is that this is basically the 3rd DVD release of Star Wars- the '04 DVD set with bonus disc, the '05 DVD set without bonus disc but new case, and the '06 GOUT. They've gone to the well too many times, IMHO. They've sold the discs to the collectors, SE fans, and now O-OT fans, as well as the people who "sorta like" Star Wars, so now have to get them cheap enough to sell to people who are only mildly interested in them to buy them.

The Phantom Menace laserdisc was also the theatrical cut, and has been transferred to DVD, I'm sure. I wonder if one of these has the AC-3 track ripped as well, if it had one (it should of given its age). And I don't know about the VHS for AOTC, but is the changes great enough that someone couldn't restore the theatrical version of AOTC.

Wii wins. Period. This console is going to dominate the market for this generation. This is quite possibly the greatest console...ever. I don't think I've ever been this blown away by a new console. It's just....WOW!

I must have one.

Happy to hear that. I was thinking that the controller was either going to be the coolest thing ever or the stupidest. The Wii sounds like the most revolutionary console on the market. If they get some other cool games out for it. With a few exceptions, the next-gen consoles all have mostly sports games only out. But I'm not going to be getting anything for a while, at least until they get commonly availabe, which will be a few months yet.

Peter Jackson evidently IS returning for The Hobbit...sort of...

I bet it will, someday. They will do whatever they can to make more money, and the Hobbit is surefire sold out shows for a week during some holiday season. However, if they don't do it within the next few years while people can still remember the three Lord of the Rings films, then I can imagine it never getting made.

Yes, it would be a nearly guaranteed success, but that doesn't mean that the studio can get it all together and make the film. It wouldn't be the first time. Look how long they had been trying to make another Superman film and all the different ideas that had been suggested. They started talking doing a new Superman movie about the time Batman and Robin came out, and they just got one out this year, with many different titles, plots, stars, etc. And as you said, they have much more of a time-limit with the recent release of LOTR than with a character such as Superman.
