Who like The Force Awakens as a title?
Time

If I ever do a fan edit of Episode 7, which I sincerely hope there is zero need for, I may try to carry on my tradition of giving an alternate title from an EU novel. Perhaps "The Undying Force"? It might help to see what the story is about!

If the 'Stronger Vader Edit' is any indication, some people will feel the need to edit any Star Wars film, no matter how good.

There's no way to market yet another version of the SE (without the OOT) that will get people to flock to the stores.

I think people on OT.com hugely misjudge the OOT's relevance to an average fan. There has been a very few of us who refused to buy Blu-Ray on the principle of having unwanted changes.

If they release another set with something "extra", I think fans will buy it just as they did 2004 and 2011 release.

I actually disagree with that. A lot of people (whether they care or not) are well aware of the Han Shot First thing; the SE is easily the most controversial alternate version of a film, except for maybe the colorized version of It's a Wonderful Life. The biggest complaint about the blu rays was the fact that it did not include the original versions, and that was mentioned in articles from a lot of news sources in their articles discussing the blu rays. Look at how much hype these rumors got over the summer about the OUT too.

To add to this. I've been told directly and have overheard others say that they either horde their VHS copies, are trying to find VHS copies or are trying to transfer their VHS copies to DVD. None of these people were big fans like us either.

To further add to this, the video rental place across the street from where I live has multiple copies of each OT VHS as well as a few 2006 DVDs, and I didn't see the blu-ray version at all.

I agree there are some detractors of anything that follow a trend. But the PT is demonstrably crap. I have repeatedly been saying "Manikin Skywalker" since the release of AOTC so either I invented it or it was parallel evolution because I certainly don't remember reading elsewhere before I started.

I recall Jake Lloyd saying in an interview (or perhaps it was someone talking about Jake) that he was called "Mannequin Skywalker" at school after the release of TPM.

I'm guessing that most who disliked Hayden's performance have come up with that pun, myself included, but don't use it because it's rather dorky.

I liked The Ancient Fear much more.

The Ancient Fear sounds like the movie will be looking backwards, whereas The Force Awakens sounds like the movie will be more in the present, looking to the future. I'm optimistic, and don't think that it's any more dull than the other titles in the saga.

This does mark a potentially dramatic shift in the philosophy of Star Wars movies however. This is the first one that directly references the Force, rather than just Jedi or Sith. Star Wars had an aspect of the Force, but also had characters on both sides that didn't believe it and wanted nothing to do with it. However, there was little indication that the Force was carried solely through bloodlines, and it is suggested that the Force can be with anyone, anywhere. All of the other films more heavily implied that the Force wasn't a conscious being, but rather a mystical (or molecular) mutation. I hope that the Force is now potentially able to be used by anyone, and that it does not follow bloodlines anymore.

Neverar's A New Hope Technicolor Recreation (Final Version Released!)
Time

Fortunately (or unfortunately for those waiting) I am only a third of the way through the film, so I'll be sure to fix those highlights before continuing. Comparing the Blu-ray recovered highlights to the HDTV broadcast highlights shows almost negligible improvement to the detail, so rather than redo what has been done, I'll leave the broadcast highlight details for the first third of the film and improve the process going forward.

I'm just amazed that there was an encoding issue like this for the Blu-ray. Did nobody watch this on a normal TV before sending it out?

Wait, seriously? That R2 looks IDENTICAL to any iteration of R2 I've ever seen. You're just looking for something to be wrong with this movie at this point, aren't you?

I have high hopes for this movie, I'm just not feeling this rendition of R2. Perhaps he'll look better onscreen, but I just see quite a bit of difference between these two models:

I don't see any issue with the dome - it's the angle of the photo. There are subtle differences, but it looks like R2 to me. There may be differences between ESB and ROTJ R2 that have gone unnoticed. I'm a little surprised he wasn't altered in some significant way after 30 years. Let's hope he doesn't fly. ;-)

If the photo shows the dome tilted back, it would appear to be shorter due to foreshortening. But to be fair, I was comparing JJ's R2 to the original R2 - as the ESB pictures show, the dome was changed for the later films. I just haven't seen ESB or ROTJ in so long that any change from the original model it immediately noticeable.

Those black things on his shoulders aren't actually part of him. ;)

Why blame it on poor J.J.? He didn't make R2, and why should he be expected to know exactly how R2 should look? I can't figure out what's wrong with him without a comparison picture, and I think it's perfectly reasonable that R2's been modified some time in the past 30 years. At least he looks used and not clean and shiny.

This is R2, Star Wars style. Note the height of the dome.

It looks meh... Not bad neither. If it's real (and according to the link it is) we hope they develop a very good complex character.

Using the royal "we", huh? We think that's very arrogant of you.

I would use 'we' more often, but I usually can't get all of my personalities to agree on what to say.

That image is of such poor quality, it's hard to tell if it's a fake or not. That saber hilt seems a tad impractical though.

Yeah, it wouldn't work as a crossguard, more likely to stab himself with one of the baby saberlets. What's the deal with Darksiders choosing weapons more dangerous to themselves than to others?

BTW Is Cameron ever going to make those Avatar sequels? It's been nearly five years since the the movie came out, and that is not a good sign for a possible franchise.

Yeah, I've been wondering that for awhile now. He keeps talking about making them, but still isn't actually doing it.

Last I heard, he has several writers working on the scripts for all three films simultaneously. I expect he wants it to be all planned out before shooting begins.

It's a safe bet we will get the first teaser trailer by Christmas time, most likely attached to Into the Woods. I'm not expecting we'll know the title for VII by then though.

I wouldn't discount it being attached to the final Hobbit film. It depends on whether they want to reach a larger audience with the trailer or pull people in to see a a more niche film.

Do you guys think it would be possible for an Ep. VII teaser to appear for Disney's new animated movie coming out later this year? I do.

Big Hero 6? That comes out on Nov. 7, whereas this rumor has JW finishing the music on Nov. 15.
