At the very least, Abrams has the ability to tell a good line reading

 Faster, more intense.

from a bad one

 Slower, less intense.

Would you believe I had to Google that to get the reference?  But yeah, exactly.  I honestly think that Lucas is autistic spectrum, and doesn't recognize human emotions very well.  It would explain a lot.

But if that were true, then we would probably feel bad for giving him such a hard time. Therefore it's obviously untrue ;)

Is the Hobbit prequel trilogy suffering the same problems as the Star Wars prequel Trilogy?

The movie could be from the point of view of Bilbo, who gets knocked out during the battle and misses the fight. He recovers afterwards and finds Thorin dying on the battlefield. It's more similar to the book in that way.

Some of the less-than-legal one film edits floating around have gone this route, and it simply doesn't work. The main character getting knocked out and missing a huge chunk of climax might work in a book (though I'd argue it doesn't) but in a film it's hugely deflating. Especially when it's the climax of so much story. I'm all for being true to the book, but this is one of the few instances where the changes were an improvement. The fight is a bit overblown but at least it was something.

Imagine if Aragorn got knocked out during Helm's Deep, then he wakes up and Gandalf is like "Oh you missed it, we saved you."? Or that episode of Game of Thrones Season 1 where they did this exact thing with Tyrion?

I thought the Tyrion episode was a clever way of avoiding an expensive battle scene, and I didn't think it was deflating at all. The point of such a thing would be to refocus the story on a single character, so if it feels deflating to miss the battle, that is only because there has been too much emphasis on battles and secondary characters already.

The simplest means of fixing the PT
Time

I was just watching one version of a Phantom Edit that tried to remove Jar Jar, but the movie really suffered from it. There's a whole lot of emotionless faces and people just standing around. I think with a change of voice and a change of dialogue, Jar Jar could be one of the best characters in the movie.

I envision him like a court jester, making jokes and acting up, yet also adding intelligent yet camouflaged commentary on the political situation. He would also know about Jedi and the Force, and comment on their corruption and ineptitude.

Someone get on this!

A new Indiana Jones?

Simply start a new franchise. Call it something new. Call it Nevada Jones if it must ape its predecessor, but do not force us to pretend to pretend.

Or give the franchise an overarching title like "You Call This Archaeology?" (that was a joke, you know what I mean), and have the Indiana Jones movies be the story of one character. The new movies could be based on someone completely different, just living in the same universe, perhaps even in the same time as Mr Jones.

It still seems a bit pink. But you got me itching to try it:

That looks great. What program are you using for the grading?

Thanks! I used Photoshop for the image, but I'd use the same tools in Premiere Pro: RGB Curves and Channel Mixer.

...I guess they've lost some SW credibility by announcing rapid development with "spin off" films.

They also may have lost just the teeniest, tiniest, smallest, most insignificant amount of credibility when they threw the Holocron into a blazing furnace meant for biohazard waste, and maybe just a fraction of a fraction of a percentage of credibility when they kicked LucasArts in there with it and slammed the door shut behind them.

But I'm glad that you're not bitter about it.
