‘C’mon, shape it up you guys…’
‘C’mon, shape it up you guys…’
When I was a kid I always thought “I have the death sentence on twelve systems!” meant that he had twelve ways (or systems) to kill Luke!
For this exact same scene, the french dubbing misled me about this very same line: I thought that being ugly was sentenced by death in 12 systems.
In a sufficiently large galaxy, I have no doubt that this would be the case.
I liked this interpretation of Bor Gullet as an essentially harmless pet.
Now I want to see a brief shot in Jedha city where these baby tentacle creatures are being sold to tourists.
The problem with cutting any of Saw’s Rebels is that they are already essentially a sketch.
- Asking in the corresponding project thread might expose your question to the people most qualified to answer it.
- If you have to start a separate thread, at least do it in the right subforum.
- ESB Despecialized comes with many audio tracks. You might want to specify which of them has this problem.
I see you responded to each of his question marks.
Bor Gullet!!telluG roB
I wish that were that case.
oh man, that bluray looks so terrible, and your regrades so wonderful!
Just to nitpick, haven’t we clarified that the blu-ray always looks much more purple and terrible once the frames have been processed in any way? I mean, they still have crappy blue-ish grading, and Dre’s is a million times better. But it doesn’t look as bad as the frame grabs often suggest.
I forget who finally worked this out. Williarob or Neverar maybe? It unfortunately gives a little bit of credit to the pro-SE/PT trolls who have claimed, in the past, that our comparisons exaggerate the BD’s flaws.
It was an issue that I noticed when exporting video from Premiere, and again when uploading to youtube or vimeo. I think it has to do with Rec 601 vs Rec 709 decoding confusion. But if you just pulled the video into any video editor, did a frame grab from that program (or just frame grabbed from VLC), and uploaded it as a still image, then it should be an accurate representation. The blu-ray really is that purple.
Inspired by this post by Xhonzi:
Last year for Christmas I gave my then 2.5 year old (now 3.5 year old) an AT-AT. Note the clever wrapping job above. (Don’t note the poor focus of the photo). Since then, he’s lovingly referred to it as his ‘robot puppy’ and he plays with it on a fairly regular basis. It was the one toy he took with him to our Thanksgiving party.
This weekend we watched Ady’s ESB Theatrical Reconstruction (which was awesome!) and I was really excited about him seeing his robot puppy larger than life on the big screen. When they finally appeared, the other kids got really excited for him and started yelling. At first he was silent as he watched it in awe… then he jumped up and down and cheered for the robot puppies… and then the rebels brought down the first one.
He burst into tears.
He was quite upset. A lot of things can make a 3.5 year old upset, so at first I wasn’t sure what had him twisted up. But through the sobs, he told us that he didn’t like them hurting the robot puppies and it made him sad. My oldest tried to explain to him that the robot puppies were the bad guys… but that didn’t help.
Not one bit.
It was kind of awesome.
Watched ESB:R with the fam this weekend. My now 8 year old was still really sad about the death of the Robot Puppies. For the remainder of the flick, he badmouthed Luke, called him a puppy killer, and otherwise cheered on his failures.
Great kid! Either I’m going to spank him or I’m beginning to like him!
Have the AT-AT’s called Robot Puppies. They growl and bark as they attack the rebels, and they Yipe! when brought down.
I thought the point of these edits was comedy, not tragedy!
Smart move.
Sounds good.
The title appears on frame 688 (well, 689 on my project since I accidentally included an extra frame at the beginning, like an idiot but that will be deleted).
I thought the new hangar matte behind the three talking guys stands out as a little too crisp compared to the actors in the foreground. But it is certainly better than the original.
Agreed, it seems to be even more sharp than the actors. It should be blurred/grained up a little bit. But definitely better than the bad matte painting from before!
I think he was going for an effect where the camera is focused on the background, leaving the foreground slightly blurred. That way, we focus on the transports to be loaded.
JEDIT: All these broken DurEnergizer links make me sad. Most of the thread is gone!
Yeah, that was a big boo-boo on my behalf. It had somehow gotten into my head that images that were linked to here on this site would stay on this site even after I deleted them from their original hosting site, so I purged them after they got to be too many to keep track of.
Well this is ironic, seeing as how now my links are dead. Oh well, such is life on the internet.
If you can’t find one, I can make one pretty quick. I just need to know what frame the title first appears. And I can make the one different scene fit. I could do it Tuesday at the earliest. I have the DTS files and the DD/AC-3 tracks with proper LFE already synced. Doing the necessary edits and rendering the 6 mono tracks won’t take much time. Let me know if you are interested.
Yeah, that would be awesome! I’ll let you know tomorrow where the title appears, but the film is frame synced to the Blu-ray so you could just use that to determine the correct frame.
Since the 2011 version of the scene is shorter, in the quick and dirty version I mocked up the '97 sound cuts right at the video cut (or a few frames before, to capture the sound of the blaster firing). Probably not a perfect solution, but it avoids mixing any other source into the '97 sound.
Does anyone know if there exists a '97 mix synced to the Blu-ray? I seem to remember such a thing existing, but I could be wrong.
How large is this file going to be? Should I order some 50gb discs?
That’s still to be determined, but I’m hoping to preserve as much detail as possible.
- Luke does a double kill! The moment I saw that AT-ST walking right beside the AT-AT walker, I kept thinking “Wait, is Adywan going to?” Than the AT-ST looks up at the now tipping AT-AT “Oh, god. He’s going to do it. It’s going to happen.” Than the AT-ST turns it’s head forward, goes into the immediate direction away from the AT-AT, but it’s too late. “CRASH! That was amazing!”. Seeing that AT-AT crush the AT-ST felt like it was a moment that truly belonged. It’s so Star Wars I’m amazed Lucas didn’t think of this himself. It also helps that this was more than a simple downing of an AT-AT since seeing it crush an AT-ST added much needed variety.
That was just awesome.
Yeah, that was a George Lucas moment in the best possible way. We had dumb grins on our faces when we realized that was going to happen, and about lost it when it did.
Kylo Ren facing to the right and close-up.
That’s an angle you don’t see every day. I like it!
Perhaps this image of Tarkin would work well on the cover of A New Hope.

The problem is that his face is out of focus, and is apparently that way on all versions of this photo since his costume is in focus. It’s just a problem with shallow depth of field.
Brilliant work all around, Ady. My brother and I simply couldn’t get over how much better the Hoth battle is, to the point that the original battle looks like an animatic in comparison. Of course, the edits after this were also well done, but like most good effects they blend into the film and invisibly enhance the experience.
Now to watch it again…
That sounds good to me 😃
Yeah, it’s finally done and rendered as of 2 hours ago.
Now all that’s left is uploading the final pieces for assembly.
Not sure I understand… you’re putting the reels together in the cloud?
No, another forum member is going to handle the final render and sound things.
The forum seems a bit busier than usual today…I’m sure it’s nothing. 😉
Anyway, time for another status update:
Reel 1: Preliminary Grade 100% - Finalized 100%
Reel 2: Preliminary Grade 100% - Finalized 100%
Reel 3: Preliminary Grade 100% - Finalized 100%
Reel 4: Preliminary Grade 100% - Finalized 100%
Reel 5: Preliminary Grade 100% - Finalized 100%
Reel 6: Preliminary Grade 100% - Finalized 100%
Total Preliminary: 100% - Finalized 100%

What good’s a countdown if I can’t set my Apple Watch by it?
Pushes glasses up nose
Actually, it would appear at 1:15.
