HALLOWEEN - Fixing the audio and re-creating 1999 color timing (Released)

Yeah kind of, just seems odd i don't see these problems. I'm not burning mine to disc just straight from a drive.

Oh and another thing, i mux mine into a m2ts file. Although i'm sure even if i did an mkv it would work just as good.

Just wondering if you have also compared it to the 7.1 and fake mono mix tracks on the 35th BD? Because if I didn't perform the same tests with the other tracks I probably would not notice a delay.

So you guys with sync problems, what player are you using to watch this? watching on my computer i use Splash player or media player classic. In my room or theater it's openelec xbmc.

Thanks for the feed back though on the audio guys.

I'm testing with VLC. Have not had a chance to test on my hardware media player yet.

It seems Turisu and I who are having problems are both using mkvtoolnix. I may try with tsmuxer tonight.

Also I should have the '99 THX DVD sitting on my desk at work, so will have a go at ripping that and testing.

Thanks Chewy.  I'll have to try that if it is a permanent change rather than just a timecode flag.

Now is +250ms the right delay I should be setting? I just pulled that number out the air and seems to work out ok.  But is there an exact science to getting the right sync? Is the only way to play them side by side and figure it out from there?

Can't mux with mkvtoolnix, doesn't like the file.  Tried tsmuxer but did not like my mkv movie file.

Whats the best way to convert w64 to a more compatible format, if that's possible?

I didn't think about people wanting to make a mkv.

Yeah a w64 won't work with mkvtoolnix.

Guess i really should have just made a wav file instead.

So how many here would prefer a wav file be uploaded?

I know we have DJs vote already

Converted it to wav using eac3to

eac3to file.w64 file.wav

..all that's needed.  Remuxed with mkvtooknix, happy days!

Had a quick test and I do notice a slight delay with the track. I was repeating the same scene over and over switching between the audio track. I think it would only be noticeable if you're really looking for it though! It's only slight and I found by adding a delay of +250ms in VLC, it works out well. I have no problem with adding the delay myself within mkvtoolnix, although I'm worried if some players will ignore the flag.

Thanks to DJ and DB though for getting this out to us.  Really appreciate the work.

Info: Re-mixed audio tracks on video releases
Time

Here's a comment about the mono track on the new BD - http://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.php?p=8149130&postcount=3346

Is that enough information to suggest the new track is a fold down? Someone questioned whether the older releases actually had the original mono as well.  The 2007 BD mono track is different to the new one, but that does that mean it's the original?

I suspect he compared it to the 7.1 track and found the same added/altered sound effects.

DJ, any chance of getting that rip?

Is anyone planning on getting the new BD release of Halloween? I have the UK version pre-ordered but early reviews of the US edition suggests the mono track is not the original one and has missing/added effects. This is comparing to earlier DVD and BD releases.

But looking for a definitive answer. Does anyone have the LD or VHS release and compared it to the new BD?

Split PCM Wav without re-encoding or losing quality
Time

So I'm trying to sync The Terminator PCM Mono track to the US Remastered BD.

I've tried adding a delay in MKVMerge, and this works well in VLC.  However when I play on my hardware media player, the video goes black after a while and then the device crashes.  I'm thinking it doesn't handle the audio delay flag very well.

Now I want to take the WAV file and cut the unwanted section from it without losing any quality.

The format from VLC reads:

PCM S24 LE (araw)
Stereo
48000 Hz
24 bits per sample

How would I best achieve this?
