Does anyone have problems with the 5.1 soundtrack on the MP4 versions of the Harry Potter extended editions?

This had to be released by someone else,ADM does not release in this format, his releases are all full DVD's.

Well started getting the full DVDs, so no more LFE/hum channel problems yay! However I noticed one of the new scenes edited back into Chamber of Secrets does not have 5.1 sound.  I realise the source probably didn't but I know a lot of editors here remix sound as well.  Just wondering if it was the same for all movies.

Does anyone have problems with the 5.1 soundtrack on the MP4 versions of the Harry Potter extended editions?

It seems to constantly emit a loud low pitch hum.  I have tried on both VLC player and Media Player Classic using AC3Filter and its both the same.  If downmix to Stereo on VLC, it gets rid of the hum.

Any ideas how I can fix this?

JOHN CARPENTER'S HALLOWEEN: THE COMPLETE EXTENDED EDITION (Released)
Time

That has got to be the best trailers I've seen in a while.  The end bit sent shivers down my spine - awesome!

I sold off my LE DVD since the UK version had an awful transfer (NTSC to PAL conversion with ghosting I believe).  Then I realised the US version was actually out of print - doh!

Then I got the Divimax version which has the altered colour timing.

So I'm really looking forward to this one.  Good work guys!

Help cutting, synching audio from DivX/Xvid sources
Time

Thanks Taolar.

VirtualDub cannot open either of my videos.  I take I need to install a DivX and XviD codec?

What video format do I need to convert them to? Which editor do you use for cutting movies together?

Any finally, the bit I'm most worried about is syncing audio to the new cut, what do I use for that? Actually the video will be based about the audio, I won't make any changes to the audio at all.

Help cutting, synching audio from DivX/Xvid sources
Time

Hi all,

I am going to have a go at my first editing project.

Basically I am putting together a movie so that it is in it original aspect ratio, original soundtrack and orriginal cut.  Its not a serious project as I don't have the best elements out there.

I have two edits of the same movie in DivX/Xvid format.

CutA has the best video, it is OAR and better transfer.  But it is missing a scene at the end and is dubbed a different language.

CutB is the complete movie, with original soundtrack but image is cropped.

Ok its pretty obvious by now what I want to do.  I just don't know where to start in terms of extracting the video (I managed to get the audio out - wahay!), cutting the movie and resynching the audio.

I had a quick flick through Adigitalman's guide but a lot of it left me confused and it looks like it is aimed at extracting from DVD.

Please help me get started.

Ripping music from a DVD soundtrack
Time

There are quite a few movies out there where an OST is not available.

I want to make one by ripping the music from the DVD.  This has been fairly successful before where there is a 5.1 track available and all spoken bits come out of the centre channel only.

The movie I'm working on now, although has a 5.1 track, it seems dialogue also come out of the front L/R speakers.  Is it possible remove these sounds from the music, or any techniques to subdue them?

Also are there any tips of normalising the levels to make all songs coherent and suitable for listening?

Thanks.
