Would love to see a sample clip from Vudu (can’t access in my country) to get a sense of the quality if there is one floating about?
Damn it! Just found out the entire series on Vudu was on offer for $49 about a month ago. But looks to have expired. Not that I can actually access it since I’m not in US.
Keep an eye out for more deals in future I guess.

Honestly, the best version I’ve seen is Booshman’s. It thoroughly mixes the two cuts to create a satisfying hybrid. Clearly, Booshman knows the movie very well, in order to choose exactly t The only drawbacks are a few overt digital effects, which, though well-intentioned, do stand out. Additionally, video quality, while nice for the time, is left somewhat weak looking because it was culled from the SD version of the weak Donner Cut master and the aged theatrical cut DVD.
Luckily, Booshman is working on a new HD Version that I have no doubt will be absolutely remarkable. His new special effects integrate more seamlessly than his old ones. It will be a great day when that version of Superman II is finally released.
Does anyone know if the Booshman cut in HD is still in the works?
I downloaded the (huge!) MKV, thanks to zxthehedgehog and Handman. Being a video editor with some compression tools, I compressed it from 22 GB down to 6, with minimal visual loss. I can upload this somewhere if anyone is interested in a more compact version.
Hey I’d be interested in the 6gb version please. Could you upload it please?
This is a bit of strange situation due to a DVD mastering fault.
I have a TV series where the DVD is PAL but I think the audio has been pitch corrected except for one episode. This one episode everyone sounds like chipmunks. I think it’s actually sped up not by usual PAL speed up of 4%, but 8%!
I know this by performing a quick test in VLC by playing back first at 0.96 speed but it still sounded high. 0.94 would be about right.
Anyway, I don’t want to simply convert from 25fps to 23.976, I want keep the video as it is but pitch shift the audio down by 8%. How would I achieve this without re-compressing the AC3?
The uncut version was never released on home video right?
Do you have he equipment to capture Grinch?
The general consensus is that the Dolby Digital 5.1 track on the BD and DVD is rather port effort - lifeless music, volume fluctuations.
Does anyone know how the laserdisc audio compares and whether it’s worth preserving?
I’m on holiday in another country. That could be why.
Never mind, just glad you’ve completed this 😃
Video is now finished 😃 anyone wanting a copy pm me 😃
Fantastic news! Thanks for putting this together.
The YouTube preview appears to be unavailable though 😦
I didn’t actually watch that bit before. Just skipped straight to the Love is Gone sequence.
I see what you did there now, but I think the fade effect is a bit too fast and snappy compared to the original. Your version has more of an “ease-in-out” effect (slow fade at the beginning and then fast fade to white), while the original is more gradual. But overall its not too bad 😃
I was going to ask which resolution you’ll be using. I think that makes sense as the difference between LD rip and HD would be a bit jarring!
Good news about the release.
Fixed everything mentioned above also made the cutting in and out of the scene a bit more smoother so its not so much in your face , next thing now is to try clean the scene up abit
Good to hear from you Nick! And the clip is shaping up really well.
Lets hope this is the year where this long awaited edit comes to fruition 😃
Did anyone get anywhere with this before i have a go?
Deviantnick never got back to me in the end 😦
Your go is more than welcome 😉
I would love it if there was a smaller version of this. I have not requested the full size version because my speeds and HDD space are not great.
if anyone is kind enough to encode a 1080p version (with audio untouched) to below 8gb so it can be burnt to DVD9!
Thanks for the info. Always excited see new cuts of Dune, but think Ill give this a miss.
i never bothered with Spicediver, because the changes don't sound appealing to me.
What about Third Stage edit? I always thought was quite decent.
Does a compressed version (<8gb) of V2 exist anywhere?
Worth mentioning that the Canadian NX rips have now been liberated lol.
What I would really love to see is a preservation of the censored for TV version, you know where the old man is an Airhead.
Does anyone have a decent taping of it?
Delaycut did the job. Thanks Chewie!
Thanks Jonno. Generally I would prefer free tools, but I'll use this if nothing else comes up.
But same situation here, the original audio quality is not great either (its a documentary) so wouldn't want to lose anything more in the process.
Need to fix out of sync audio on one of my DVDs. For some reason, half way through the movie, the audio is delayed by about 1sec.
So I need to extract the AC3 track and remove 1sec from the middle. I don't want to re-encode as it will lose quality.
Is this possible?
He released a regrade of OUATITW March last year. I see there is a version 2 too.
Also I don't believe his version includes the original mono?
I tried playing it on a dedicated media player connected to my TV (as opposed to the player on the TV itself) and it seens to honour the display aspect ratio setting. So that's good enough for me.
Thanks Space Ranger for the tip, I may wish to encode it properly in future.
This capture looks pretty nice for an LD rip.
Only issue is that while the aspect ratio displays correctly in VLC, it doesn't on my TV. I assume its just the display ratio which has been corrected.
How do I change the ratio without re-encoding/quality loss?
Predator is up next...
Hey Jonno, did you ever sync this one?
Hi Neon. It's still a work in progress - I've found it particularly difficult for some reason, perhaps due to its hazy and ambient sound (reference points being harder to find as a consequence).
I'm also in the middle of a house move so I may not have a chance to get back to it for a few weeks, but I'll post an update when there's news!
No problem Jonno. Appreciate the update, and good luck with the move :)
