Well, I finally got my DVD of this over the weekend, and after finally getting to watch all six episodes, I can say that this is easily one of the best TV shows I've seen in a very long time. You guys are totally missing out.

Also, the man who wrote the script for this is Steven Moffat, the man who also brought us Coupling and several episodes of the new Doctor Who series ( The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances in series 1, The Girl in the Fireplace in series 2, and Blink in series 3, all of which are stand-out episodes). I never even knew this guy existed until a few months ago, but he has easily become my favorite contemporary screenwriter, at least for television. Rest assured, if his name is in the writing credits, I'll try as hard as I can to see whatever it is he's cooked up next.

it's much easier to make beer and whiskey in your basement than guns.

Home made firearms are a lot easier to make than you think. I don't know what makes you think they are difficult to make, they are actually a very simple machines. But the idea that you would even have to bother to make homemade firearms is rediculous. There are plenty out there already, even if they are illegal there is nothing stopping dishonest people from obtaining them in illegal ways.

I don't think its that's simple to make a semi-auto hand gun or an uzi. If it were, they wouldn't cost $900(as Sean said).

And Cho Seung Hui didn't use a semi-auto hand gun or an uzi, now did he?

Now, to put this thread back on topic:

Also, for some reason this picture reminds me of Sweeney:

Protection is the Cops job. You want food? Go to a grocery store.

Time it takes a police car to drive to my house: Five minutes, minimum. Time it takes me to pump a couple shotgun shells into a would-be rapist or burglar: two seconds, maximum. Also--cops investigate crimes and arrest criminals. They are not required by law to offer protection.

Cops are not required by law to offer protection?!? that's B.S. Where I live, If you if you have a burglar or a rapist in your house. you can call the cops and they come. Also wouldn't burglars and rapists be less of a threat without guns?

Peter Jackson evidently IS returning for The Hobbit...sort of...
Time
It actually may not be a bad idea to get someone other than Peter Jackson to direct The Hobbit. The reason I say this is because the book is quite different stylistically from the LOTR books, and so a change of visual style may not be so bad.

One stylistic difference that comes to mind is the trolls. The ones that Bilbo meets in the forest are very different from the LOTR movie trolls.

Video Games - a general discussion thread

Well, not really, because most of my anger towards the game is because of the crappy ending.

Basically, the boss battle is....anti-climactic, to say the least. It's one of those boss battles where, once you finish it, you can't help but think "I clocked in all this play time, and this is all I get?"

I felt the same way about Super Mario Sunshine, now that I think about it.
