Happy Birthday Han Solo
Time
Will this man still be able to do his own stunts once "Indy 4" production time rolls around? My mind says no, but my heart screams "Yes! Harrison Ford is invincible!"

Possible titles for Indy 4:

Indiana Jones and the Last Bedpan

Raiders of the Lost Walker

Indiana Jones and the Nursing Home of Doom

Indiana Jones Is Gettin' Too Old For This Shit

Happy Birthday to him anyway. May the Schwartz be with him.

I will admit that it was a bit of a broad generalization. It looks to me as if Lucasarts hit a slump and is climbing its way back up, which is good. But let us not forget the travesty that was "Star Wars: Force Commander".

I personally had high expectations for the ROTS game, but was let down because it was basically a ripoff of the LOTR movie-games. Except not quite as good. The voice actors sound like their extremely tired, it's 3 a.m. at the office, and they wanna go home.

Honestly, to me the only noteworthy Star Wars games to come out recently are the KOTORs (not being a SWG nerd like a lot of people I know my age).

I didn't think Rebel Assault 2 was that bad, but then again, the last time I played it was when I was around 8 years old, so I could be wrong.

Take Star Wars: Battlefront, for example. Excellent idea, mediocre execution. It's pretty fun, yes (for a while, anyway), but it is a pretty buggy game. The ship combat was terrible, and the Dark Troopers were way too wimpy, not to mention poor collision detection. Hopefully they'll have these bugs worked out for Battlefront 2.

I personally wish they'd stop with the Star Wars games and hurry up with Monkey Island 5 already!!

By the way, does anybody else here remember "Grim Fandango"?

And of course we also can't forget both "Maniac Mansion" and its sequel, "Day of the Tentacle". I recently discovered a program called ScummVM that runs old SCUMM games on newer systems that they were never designed for, such as Windows XP, Mac, or Linux. Now I've been able to play all those classics for the first time in many years.

Remember back in the day, when Lucasarts did more than just make crappy Star Wars games *coughLego**StarWars**coughROTSgamecough**. Whatever happened to those old-school adventure games like "Sam and Max" and "Full Throttle" and especially the Monkey Island series. I even heard that sequels for both Sam and Max and Full Throttle were in the works but then later cancelled. Am I the only one that misses the OLD Lucasarts?

Cartoons!

I don't know about you guys, but I miss the classic Nicktoons:

Rocko's Modern Life
The Angry Beavers
Ren and Stimpy
Invader Zim!! (not really considered classic, but who cares?)

I also miss Pinky and the Brain and Animaniacs, cuz those had a bunch of grown-up jokes that I didn't get when I was little but are totally hilarious now!

George McFly?!?! I just don't think I'd be able to take him seriously. He was a pretty good creepy guy in "Willard", but he was more of a "Sit in the corner and snicker while he watches you die" kind of creepy guy.

Does anyone know what music was used in that sequence? It didn't sound familiar to me. (not the famous SW fanfare, but the stuff before it).

The music in the first part of the podrace was from the "Shadows of the Empire" soundtrack (from the speeder bike chase level in the video game, if you really wanna know). I'm not so sure about the middle part though

Batman Begins
Time
From the dvd An Evening With Kevin Smith:
Kevin Smith speaking: " '[Tim Burton]:I would never read a comic book...' which would explain f*ckin' Batman!"

I thought that one thing that set Batman Begins apart was its lack of CG special effects. 98% of the special effects in that flick were done with good ol'-fashioned models (exploding train, etc.), proving once again that you don't need the most technologically-advanced CG effects to have a damn good movie.

Yeah, well they sure could have used some CGI at the end of the film. When they are standing outside of Wayne Manor, watch the background. Gotham is no where to be seen. What, is it an hour trip into the city for Batman?

Well, he did have to drive a hell of a long time to get home, dontcha think?

By the way, thanks for the BitTorrent help, I am now under way! Now I just have to route BitTornado through my firewall.

So why Define STAR WARS as OT OR PT?
Time
I just came to a realization, and this kind of amused me. The reaction that Lucas got for changing the OT is ALMOST EXACTLY the same reaction Metallica got when they sued Napster. It made the fans feel alienated by their heroes; it also made them think they only did it for the money, which in turn only made them MORE angry because it wasn't like the band didn't have enough money already. Does anyone else seem to think this an odd coincidence?

So why Define STAR WARS as OT OR PT?
Time
My personal opinion, and I know a good many people around me who would agree, is that the problem (well, A problem ) with the PT is not the CGI itself, but that there is simply TOO MUCH CGI. If THE MAN RESPONSIBLE FOR EVERYTHING (anyone who remembers Anthony Daniels's old Wonder Column should get that reference) had shown at least a little bit of moderation, then maybe the fans wouldn't be so quick to hate on it. For example: why bother making Jar Jar CGI? Gollum from LOTR really didn't have a choice, seeing as how it would be impossible to find someone that skinny (besides Iggy Pop); but other than that, their rubber Orc suits worked fine. Would a rubber Jar Jar suit really be so difficult? Would it have killed them to have some real objects in the Gungans vs. Droids battle at the end of TPM?

In any event, I think the CGI problem with the PT is simply over-saturation. Someone should have been around to say "Hey, dude, um...don't you think you should tone it down a bit?" I think the main problem is that with Lucas's fame, no one has the balls to say no to him. It's like that Monty Python sketch involving the board meeting with the huge Hollywood producer. I can't remember any lines from it though, so if it's that important to you, Google it.

Well, at any rate, I hope I've shed some light on this situation, or perhaps sparked a debate.

I just saw the new Batman movie, and I have to say it has something that I think George Lucas should have seen before making his prequels: LACK OF CG effects. 98% percent of the special effects in that movie were done with good old-fashioned models (ex. exploding train, etc.) Yet the movie was absolutely fantastic, proving once again that you don't need fancy CG effects to make a damn good movie.

To MagnoliaFan or anyone else who plans to make an edit of ROTS: Perhaps Vader's "Nooo!" should be replaced with someone screaming "Porque!!!!!!"
