This Thread Is Currently About...Bingo and/or Wings!!!
Time

This is my favorite arcade game of all time:

http://www.psw-leisure.co.uk/images/Arcade/Large/Gunmen-Wars.gif

http://www.system16.com/screens/gunmen_b.gif

It was just the most incredibly over the top game ever. First it would take a picture of you with a little camera over the screen, which would then be the avatar for your "team". Then, you and a friend would basically face off in a match of Gundam Paintball. The controller was a huge gun mounted on top of a joystick that would move along x-y axes, and you'd move them around by moving the gun. Man, it was a blast.

Thank you Namco.

Hmm... looks like he was just as unfunny before.  Laughs at his own jokes.

You'd be laughing too if you could mock rednecks have them LOVE you for it and give you more money than you could have possible imagined. ;-)

I can't help but think that it might have been a similar situation to the Johnny the Homicidal Maniac comics by Jhonen Vasquez. They mocked goth kids mercilessly, but goth kids didn't catch it and started worshipping the comics, so Vasquez started milking it.

Your vinyl record collections
Time

There was a recent 30th anniversary vinyl edition of DSotM that I picked up a while back. Remastered, with all the original stickers and posters and stuff. I'd say it's worth the price tag (which was around $25-$30 when I got it).

I never realized just how much of a difference in sound quality there was between analog and digital until I did a test myself with the CD and vinyl version of "Communication Breakdown" by Led Zeppelin (I've got all but two of their albums on vinyl). The vinyl sounded SO much better. The drums had some serious kick to them.

Lisa Lampanelli: Her entire routine is "I love to fuck black guys!" Woo hoo.

Dennis Miller: picked up one of his audiobooks one time. Lamest attempt at comedy ever.

Bill Maher: I liked Religulous, and I like his show Real Time, but his most recent stand-up special was less comedy and more crazy-guy-yelling-on-the-street-corner. Pass.

Jeff Dunham: Watching him, you can almost forget that the puppets aren't actually talking. When you realize this, it dawns on you that man, this guy is a huge jerk-off.

Larry the Cable Guy - As terrible as his jokes are, I have to commend him for finding a persona that would make him outrageous amounts of money (he's not actually a redneck, if you weren't aware: Proof

The Ricky Gervais Show
Time

I'm a huge Gervais fan (well, Gervais/Merchant fan), and have been ever since I discovered the podcasts back in '06 (they were putting out 3 free ones called The Podfather at the time). The Office is probably my all-time favorite TV show, with Extras not far behind. I've been looking forward to the HBO show for months because now my friends will finally know what I've been talking about all this time.

That being said, I only really like Ricky whenever he's working with Steve Merchant. Here's why:

Stuff he's done with Steve:

-The Office

-Extras

-XFM Radio / Podcasts

Stuff he's done without Steve:

-Ghost Town

-The Invention of Lying

-His stand-up specials

As you can see, there's quite a bit of a quality difference there. They've got a film coming out soon called Cemetery Junction though, which is the first thing they've written together since Extras, so I'm hoping it'll be good.

I need help with something,I used to run Zone Alarm for my firewall, now I have read that the Win 7 Firewall is just as good as any others on the market, but the 1 thing I miss is being able to block\unblock specific programs, will Windows 7 Firewall let you do this as well, and if so how?

Thanks

and I run SET NOD32 for AV,read this is hands down the best,do you guys agree?

Just click:

1. Control Panel

2. Windows Firewall

3. Allow a program or feature in Windows Firewall (it's on the top-left)

Then just check/uncheck your way to happiness!

Quote: Looking for knowledgeable collector to advise me on eBay price listing RE: Phantom Menace Ltd. Edition Novel (signed)
Time

So, basically, I’ve got this book, and I want to know how much I should list it for on eBay, but I don’t know who to ask.

The book in question is a super-fancy special edition of the Phantom Menace novel. It has a black leather cover with a red foil Darth Maul face on it, and a black leather slipcase with the same image. On the inside page it says that it’s one of a limited edition (one of 5000, I believe) and it’s got Terry Brook’s signature in it.

Anyone have any ideas/suggestions?

You're on the right track with the Orange Box and Bioshock. Being as those were the first two games you listed, I take it you are a shooter fan, so yeah, I'd definitely say go for Left 4 Dead or Left 4 Dead 2 (over all, I like L4D better, but L4D2 has some pretty cool additions). Those games are a lot of fun, but they really shine the most when you play them online with friends (I've had some fun games with strangers too), otherwise they wear thin pretty quick.

Arkham Asylum looks really awesome. I have still never played it, but I have only heard good things about it.

Braid is absolutely fantastic, a really fun change of pace.

Bioshock 2 was released today, I've just spent the last hour playing it and it definitely lives up to my own personally expectations. Of course, wouldn't recommend it until well after you beat the first one.

If you liked Resident Evil 4, then I'd definitely recommend Resident Evil 5. If you never played Resident Evil 4, then I'd highly recommend it.

It seems like these days Halo is equated with downing copious amounts of Bud Lite and going four wheeling (i.e. very redneck), for some reason. So, at the risk of sounding extremely low class, I actually really enjoyed Halo 3 and would recommend it. It feels a lot different from other shooters. Rather than just blasting through things, you often have to stop and plan out an attack strategy, otherwise you're doomed to fail again and again.

Fallout 3 has earned a permanent spot on my all time favorite list. I've gotten every achievement in that game, and yet there is still so much of it I haven't seen, so many characters my character has never met, and so many locations I have never discovered. The GOTY edition comes with all the expansions, which are definitely worth getting.

Actually, I was never really that into shooters until fairly recently; I liked them, but given options they would never be my first choice. It just seems like the best games coming out for the PC these days happen to be damn good FPSs. :P   (Never have been a big fan of Halo though. Tried several times, just never really clicked.) I'm actually making my first foray into online gaming, as Team Fortress 2 is the first online game I've ever really played.

I'll probably pick up Fallout 3, but not until after I've finished HL2, Bioshock, and Batman. Man, this is going to be a tough semester. :P

Edit: OH! I just remembered, I recently dug up all the old Dark Forces/Jedi Knight games. They all run except for Jedi Knight/Mysteries of the Sith, something about not being compatible with the newest Directx (running a Windows 7 machine). This is my first time to play Jedi Academy though, diggin' it so far.

I just got a new PC, one that actually has some good gaming capabilities (been on a crappy laptop since '07), so I'm catching up on a lot of the big stuff I missed out on when it was new, like the Orange Box and Bioshock. Any other recommendations? I'm thinking of going for either Left 4 Dead or Batman: Arkham Asylum next.

Also, anyone else play Team Fortress 2 on PC? I'd totally be down for an OT.com team. :D

Lucas v. Spielberg, Round 3 - Who Makes Better Use Of CGI?
Time

BarBar Jinkx said:

Well lets look at movies that use little to no CGI

Speilberg - Schindlers list  - a Must see movie if ever there was one

Lucas - Howard the Duck - Nuf Said!

Case closed LOL

Even though I'm siding with Spielberg, that's still a bit of an unfair comparison, as you could easily go the other way with it:

"Spielberg - 1941

Lucas- American Graffitti

Cased closed LOL"

Just sayin'. :P
