To clarify. The ESBR teaser visual comparisons I do by hand. Ady did the ANHR one, and hopefully will do the ESBR one. I just host them.

sounds like a full time job

One of the many reasons I want to buy some editing software.

Maybe you wait somebit. Regarding to a german news-site the Video-Editing Software "Lightworks" could be Open Source someday, so it could be somebit cheaper :) to get some editing software with enough functions.

Here is the german news from April 15th. (Its in german... but maybe google helps a bit to understand)

Or maybe you try Cinelerra for Linux.

Or maybe OpenShot Video Editor

..again for Linux.

Hey 005, I thought I would share this with you. I created it myself using the posters.

You might want drop the smaller Vader and the little slither of Jabba and try to avoid squishing (technical term) the elements of your composition.

AFAIK its a reconstruction of the old VHS trilogy Box-Set design, and if I remember correctly, the smaller Vader and the Jabba where in the design, also. (I think I will take alook this afternoon.)

Info: Other region DVD's & Blu-ray's with Special content NOT available in the US.

Maybe this fits also here:

UK has "SALO or 120 Days of Sodom" on BluRay. Compared to the US Criterion DVD it is uncut (the US Disc misses one Scene).

There is also a DVD release in UK from the same master as the BluRay, but I don't know how the DVD lokks like.

Here is an image comparison (at caps-a-holic) between the UK BD and the US Criterion Disc.

The BluRay ist Region B and the DVD is PAL.

This is the list of the Special Features:

Disc one (DVD and Blu-ray) - Sal

* Complete and uncut, re-mastered from original Italian restoration negatives
* Original Italian language version (with optional English subtitles)
* Original English language version (with optional subtitles for the hearing-impaired)
* Original Italian trailer (with optional English subtitles)
* Coil - Ostia (the Death of Pasolini) The original 1986 track from Coil's celebrated
second album, Horse Rotorvator, with a newly created video accompaniment, shot
especially for this release by Peter Christopherson

Disc two (standard def PAL DVD disc, included in both DVD & Blu-ray editions)

* Open Your Eyes! (2008, 21 mins)
Newly created on-set documentary using full colour footage shot in 1974 by
acclaimed film journalist and Pasolini expert Gideon Bachmann.
* Walking with Pasolini (Roberto Purvis, 2008, 21 mins)
New documentary exploring the meaning and impact of Pasolini's film, with Neil
Bartlett, David Forgacs, Noam Chomsky and Craig Lapper (Chief Examiner, BBFC).
* Whoever Says the Truth Shall Die (1981, 58 mins) Philo Bregstein's classic
documentary on the life and death of Pier Paolo Pasolini.
* Fade to Black (Nigel Algar, 2001, 24 mins)
Documentary with Mark Kermode exploring the ongoing relevance and power of
Pasolini's controversial masterpiece, with Bernardo Bertolucci and other leading
directors.
* Ostia (Julian Cole, 1991, 25 mins, with optional director commentary track) Cole's
rarely seen short film about the last days of Pasolini, starring Derek Jarman.

As someone from an country where dubbing movies is very common. (Germany) I think its a great Idea. Some countrys don't have this tradition. I think there are just few movies dubbed in dutch.

But real dubbing is better than voice-overs :)

Did you even alter the scrolling text?

I would never assume, that I could do such a think as dubbing a movie .. or recut audio tracks to fit to the adywan edition.

All you guys are soo sick!

After I read the first posts I scroll up to check if it was piostet on Aprils fools day.... but .. but.. you are serious!

Well.. how do I get it, after its finished? I really love the idea!

Its bad that LaserDisc is no longer produced, and that it is impossible to find a small private LD-pressing factory where this idead could be released for fans in the forum as LD. :) This isn't a joke, I would love to have adywans revisited on VHS or VHS style.. but in LaserDisc it would be really awesome!

If you've got $5000 lying around, it can be done! ;)

On a related note, has anybody seen that promo on Adult Swim for their block party thing? It looks like they dubbed it off to U-matic and back to have analog video tracking errors on purpose!

Poorly I do not have $ 5000 (additional shipping to Germany and taxes.. ) additionally It does not come with any blank discs... I would assume they would be even hard to find.

But such a LD writer is really cool... I would say every serverroom need one!

I don't know if this fits here, but the austria BD of "Texas Chain Saw Massacre" (1974) has a slight different image quality than the US Disc. The US disc is used with more dnr, so the AT Disc has more grain, and seems to be a bit brighter. So the US Disc seems to loose some details in dark areas.

Image comparison

What region is this version, is it all?

also do you have it where you live, can I paypal you some money to send it to me?

The BD is Region B ! :(

The DVDs are region 2

I own it. It is not cheap ( I paid about 28 € at the moment about $ 38 .. without any shipping fees.), because its a limited Edition (5000 cp.)

It contains the BD, a DVD with me Movie and a DVD with Bonus features.

The BD and DVD version contain the known two commentary tracks with german subtitles.

Bonus Features on the Bonus DVD:

- documentations: "The Shocking Truth", "Flesh Wounds" and "Off the Hook"

- deleted scenes, outtakes and bloopers

- trailer (US and german) and us-tv and radio spots

- "The Shocking Truth" outtakes

- tour trough the TCM house with Gunnar Hansen

..so the bonus features are from the US 2 Disc Edition (except the german trailers)

I don't know if "Turbine Medien" will release a single disc edition soon, which should be alot easier and bit cheaper to get.

This edition is still avaible (as I said.. without shipping, its about $ 38.. I don't know any shipping fees to where you live) and I still could get it from an online shop.

EDIT: The UK BD release seems to been somewhere between the US and the AT Discs regarding grain and brightness. (Comparison between US and UK Disc here)

The UK Disc is not very expensive at amazon.co.uk.

EDIT 2 (2010-04-19):

The DVD in the AT limited Box even seems a bit brighter and a bit sharper than the US "Ultimate Edition" regarding to this DVD comparrison

Here is a image of the cut tape.

I wonder a bit, because it is stated to be 2.20:1 But the Text says its original cinematic aspect ratio.

And here is a Picture of the Tape I got at eBay.

You may notice that they are quite alike, except for the Logo bottom left, and the small round printing on the cinematic version.

The german text for the details about the Televisin airing says, that the TV airing, and the Marketing cutted Tape should have original aspect ratio.

I just wonder about the 2.2:1 stating...

Here is a snap from my uncut Tape:

So you own a PAL VHS Player? Cool. NTSC VHS Playere where never much seen in Germany. Some exist, but it was not a widespread feature.(Mostly for such geeks who imported VHS of uncut movies from far around the world. But I'm to young to been someone who did. When I grew up and start loving movies from asia like Bullet in the Head the DVDs where coming...)

The good thing with this digital techs is that it could be a Video with PAL resolution but true movie speed.

I got another tape from eBay. Same type of tape, but also very cheap (about 2.50 Euro ... postage included...) So if it is correct aspect ratio, I can send you the better quality tape.

Easy job ;)

I am living in Germany, so its more easy for me to obtain it, than fore someone far away. :)

Are you able to copy an PAL VHS with best possble Quality to PC? I tried it with Cujo, but I am not pleased with the result, so if the Tape is correct aspect ratio I could send it to someone who could do the job get in into PC and transfer it to NTSC and get english audio onto it.

I'll try to get a german VHS (PAL) stated to be uncut and widescreen. The label Marketing seems to have released two VHS Versions: One which is cut (don't know how long) but stated to be original cinematic widescreen, and one which is stated to be uncut, but no infoamration about the image format.

The uncut Tape is seen on eBay. I will Check one out, and check the image format.

This would be great, but as far as I know there are not much avaible 2.35:1 releases.

AFAIK the US Laser Disc (Pioneer) is stated to be 1.85:1.

The German Pioneer LD is 2.00:1.

There is an old German VHS Tape (PAL) which is cutted, but 2.35:1 (Marketing Films)

A long time ago the german television station "ZDF" aired the TC in original Widescreen and uncut. But I don't think that any copy is somewhre avaible.

I don't know if somewhere else the movie was aired in correct aspect ratio...

'The Day After' - Ultimate Edition (* unfinished project *)
Time

The German "Special uncut edition" is in anamorph widescreen ans contains german and english audio. But without audio commentary.

Maybe I could post one or two caps, if anyone want to check quality.

It contains 3 short educational movies:

Duck & Cover [9:12 Min.]
Let's Face It [13:31 Min.]
A Day Called X [27:34 Min.]

(english with german subs.. don' know if burned in)

EDIT:

I just zapped through the DVD, but at the end, just befor the credits, i noticed two texts on black ground in german. Some advice about how terrifieing the movie shows with just showing small piece of catastrophe, and that it is hoped that this movi inspires leaders of nations to keep peace.
