Sometimes do you feel like you should give up on the cause?
Time

Are you banned from T.F.n and the Official Site Adam? Do you like anything in the Classic Trilogy done before 1997??

Have a good time Kev, cant afford the Pub tonight, so I have to put up with AdamwanKenobi ;

It was such a bad performance it wasnt a fitting end, and was not as good as Shaw's nice smile, which is now replaced by his creepy glare, thank god I have found ways to not see every fan-girls dream lover at the end of the Jedi

Why do you go there or TF.N when you have this place, when can see that rubbish, and all that ass-kissing. these are probably the same people that think Hayden is a great actor and cant take critism of his supposed acting skills, and say stuff like Ewan is better than Sir Alec and probably want Lucas to put Qui-Gonn and Padme in the ghost scene and whole trilogy in CG or something, the cause will be alive as long as this site is open and like minded people like us are not prepared to have our Star Wars force-fed to us, and if old George doesnt release the trilogy, least it will live on and so will Mr Shaw in Jedi thanks to the guys on here.

Will this website die when/if the O-OT is released?
Time
I dont think George will release it.

I dont think it will but hope not about this site because i would probably end up the TFN and a quick trip over there is bad enough and as said where else can we get all that superb preserved Star Wars stuff and fan-edits and the people who do it may scatter around the net if this site goes down, and the people here are very friendly and dont think the Prequels and the Special Editons are the greatest thing ever, and beyond any form of critism and opinion unlike on certian sites,

Of course I can't. In this case, I see the whole picture. Seeing TPM then ANH made me accept all six as one story, rather than looking at them from an OT purist point of view. I guess you could say seeing TPM and then ANH forced me to accept it all. No, I'll probably never understand your point of view, because when I saw TPM, star wars was all new to me, just as you'll never see mine because when you saw ANH, star wars was new to you. The thing was, I saw I, IV, V, VI in a short amont of time, while you saw IV,V,VI, and had to wait 20 years for I, which involved building up incredible expectations like reading the thrawn trilogy and wanting to see Vader in the suit running around killing jedi for the entire PT, whuile that would lack a decent story, which is exactly what the OT has. Ironic.

I gave the movie every chance, I personally think its crap and a wasted opportunity, that is not because of the Thrawn Trilogy, waiting 16 years, or wanting to see Darth Vader run round with a lightsaber its the question of the quality and it is not there for me.

The irony for me is the fan-editors on here have made the film better and more entertaining in my opinion than Lucas' Thetarical/DVD version by changing elements, the pace of the film by cutting out the junk without the resources available to Lucas.

I couldnt wait for Prequels to start, I was so excited and wanted to be as good if not better than the Classic Trilogy, and this film appeared, i waited all this time, and thought what a load of rubbish!!! after seeing it, and nostalgia/Classic Trilogy bias has nothing to do with it by that account I wouldnt like Revenge of the Sith

I agree with what are saying 100%,

The magic and the myth making which made the Classic Trilogy so great, and such timeless classics, all those years ago, was missing from the Prequels

and being able to use CGI has probably allowed Lucas to become sloppy and lazy and the end results, depends on ones opinion of Prequels, but to me and most on here would probably agree, it has not helped George make better films.

Watching in order 1-6 is screwing up the original SW for newcomers!

Exactly. I really have enjoyed the EU. It certainly does, in my opinion , add so much more to the story than what is seen in the films. The OT, or even all six by themselves, are seen as part of a larger whole when put with the EU. In fact, I can't see how someone can call themselves a fan without appreciating, or at least trying to appreciate all parts of the story. As a wise man once said: "To understand the great mystery, you must study all of its aspects...

That is not fair to say, because the EU books didn't come out until the early 90's, and we were all diehards fans of the OT through the 70's/80's. Now to each his own, if you like the EU and the story of Anakin Skywalker as a 6 part movie saga, that is great. But I consider myself a diehard SW fan for almost 30 years, and only love the OT, and I like ROTS, just for backstory purposes.

I don't think that Lucas ever imagined there would be such different types of SW fans since the Prequels came out. You have the OT diehards who hate the PT, you have the PT diehards, who don't understand the fascination with the original Star Wars, you have people in the middle who grew up with the OT, and still keep giving the PT a chance, but still feel underwhelmed. And then you have the EU/Anakin Skywalker Saga fans who love everything about SW, and can't get enough.

Back in 1983, when ROTJ was finished it film run, we were all just SW fans and never argued or insulted each other as many do all over different SW boards, we argued with people that were NOT fans of the SW, and defended the movies to a tilt. After the last 10 years, and what Lucas has done to the series, (OT SE changes, TPM & AOTC mediocre movies, constanstly contradicting himself), I find myself bashing Lucas rather than defending him in 1983 when I thought he was a genius.

It is kind of ironic that the man who created the movies I love and are my favorite of all-time is the same man who is screwing them up now.

All that is so true,

I do like good old George and always will, and I stlll think he is a genius in some ways, but he does contridict himself alot and sometimes blatantly lies to cover his ass and he comes out with silly statements and excuses sometimes, I feel, and I have to say he has done in my opinion bafflling things since 1983 and its also sad to say since 83, the things George has done with Star Wars, there are not too many things that appeal to me and I really watch.

I will third that, you dont really need them when all is said and done, if George made them more entertaining the "filler" might be worth watching, as the story of the other two(if he put in and took out a few elements) I feel was good but the execution of the story wasnt.

The good thing if you disregard the Prequels you can still see it as Luke's story with Anakin's "story" taking a back seat!

And has been said, i am sure it was never Vader's story from the start,he was just the villian to begin with, you can tell that it was about Luke etc and George changed his mind to make it Vader's story.

Though the Prequel story is good and George said "it would be rather boring", Sith is the only official prequel for me that I find entertaining, the others are so boring, may he is right they are supposed to be, The only way I have now found the other two to be entertaining is watching the fan-edited versions of them two Prequels(which by the way does turn TPM into a much better film by ditching the crap, and they thankfully do get rid of the horrendous love dialouge in Clones to make it less painful and in turn better and both less dry)at least the originals were entertaining all the time (to me) while having a story, and for me part of the reason I watch Star Wars movies is to be entertained, if I want to watch something boring I will watch two hours of some foreign arthouse film .

The difference ineffects doesn't bother me. Lucas himself once said the difference in effects works well as a way of showing how boring and plain everything had become, under the oppression of the empire.

Its too noticable the effects difference for me to show how "boring and plain" as George says unfortunatley, I cant believe everything became that screwed after 20 years of the Empires oppression, thats why George should have taken less time between making the trilogies I feel

Thats one of the reasons 1-6 as "one film" will never work for me (3-6 maybe) or just the O.T as the main event and Ep 3 and the "others" as individual films. I would personally show any newcomers the O.T first then maybe the prequels(any newcomers I know prefer the O.T anyway)

Yes Star Wars is screwed for newcomers and for younger people as CO says because of those issues he raiised and is proof to me that George never intended from the start for it to Darth Vaders story and because Star Wars was always a standalone movie until its success prompted George to add to his saga, but some of those that moan and say things about Star Wars havent got a real clue what they talking about, christ some of them are wondering why the Rebels didnt send 90 X-wings into the Battle of Yavin and the Empire didnt sent 90 Tie Fighters out to intercept them etc and want it added in the next Edition (trust me i read this rubbish),and probably think The Phantom Menace is the best Star Wars movie and havent clue about the importance of Star Wars and its ranking among the greatest films of all time.

I'll only ever be happy w/ gredo shooting first is if...

I reckon George will probably have another attempt trying to make it look relalistic in the next Edition, I wonder if any of George's crew told him that how fake it did look when seeing the change?

I am pleased to say I dont watch it, but it is one of old George's worst and least popular ideas and one of his worst hatchet jobs in the Classic Trilogy. I do chuckle when people say Greedo was always meant shoot first, when you can clearly tell he wasnt, and the final results should bear it out.

Lobot - RIP
Time

R.I.P John Hollis

I didnt realise it was October he died, I thought it was earlier this year, August time, that he died,

He was treated, before he died at a Hospital in London, where me and my mum work, she knows a Nurse that treated him, he was a very nice man by all accounts and spoke of starring as Lobot in ESB.

Its has been a bad year, first Michael Sheard, and also Wiliam Hootkins who I must say a beleated R.I.P to.

My theory on when O-OT will come (Just a theory)
Time
I would like to think so, but with George you never know, but I still say unlikely, but he must know or be aware he has unhappy fans, and fans who are near enough at breaking point saying enough is enough with the changes to the O.T, the most important issue is does George care?, do they feel they can ride the present and any future discontent among these fans to sell enough boxsets which they probably may well do,

The O.O.T and the supplements would be the only thing that would interest me and make me part with my cash, but I have to say with all the great preservation work and fan edits avalible I would be hesitant to splash the cash straight away, if ever, if this was the case, and the unseen footage will become available separate from the boxset, one way or the other.

Watched ROTS DVD this weekend, now I see saga as 3,4,5,6
Time
I have to agree with everything you say, but I did like the film from the first day at the cinema

Sure it had cheese and maybe some cringe moments but I can live with it. and to give George his due he deserves credit for the movie

Mcdiarmid McGregor were very good even Christensen was quite good, the only one I thought was weak was Portman whos best scenes were deleted

George cut the Jar Jar type stuff(I found Artoo funny but it was nothing compared to the other two) and the long FX stuff (ike the Podrace. Underwater boat rides )and it helped the story and the flow of movie, if this had been like the other two who knows?

In am in two minds whether to give TPM and to a lesser extent Clones(i dont mind it and dont hate it like TPM but the but i have seen it loads of times and it drag abit to me now).another go, but I dont want to see them back to back or individually now. so it may well be 2 3 4 5 6
