who hates george lucas

If he were doing those changes to someone elses, then I would feel the same way many do in having a low opinion of him. He himself even said that he supports an artists right to their properties, but doesn't feel one artist should change another's work. In my opinion, he is still that high school kid, excited to try out new things, as he has in the prequels. I hate it when people put down his use of CG, becuase he is the one who basically invented most special effects in the first place. He used them in the OT, but no one complained. No one said "Those special effects have gone to his head and he can't tell a story." For the PT, technology had merely improved, and he took advantage of this. The advance in technology allowed him to fully reallize the visions he had in his head of what he wanted to see for all of these years since 1973 when he wrote the overall story. He, as you know, had to make MANY compromises with the OT, and things didn't go how he would have liked. You've heard the quote where he says he was disappointed the first ten years after the OT was released, right? Well, everyone should be happy for him, that he was finally able to create the films he wanted with the prequels, and perfect the films he ,ade with the OT SE. Try not to let your personal preferences get in the way when thinking of Lucas. He may be this obsessive, perfectionist, greedy, crazy person you say, but.. then again, he might just be an artist perfecting his work, without listening to the comments of others. The studios told him in the 90's that the original fans would not like the PT, but, he told the story he wanted regardless. How many people do you know who would risk a reputation like that in order to tell a story? Not many. Most artists like Lucas are controlled by the studios, WHO ARE THE REAL MONEY HUNGRY PEOPLE. The studios have the sole goal of profits. Now, of course, that is one of his goals as well. But the studios look at the films as products, rather than stories. So they create them and cut them to appeal to people. Lucas, through his independent nature, was able to avoid that all of these years, and tell the stories exactly the way he wanted to. And I cannot hate him for that.

I dont hate him as said

People do critize him for making changes for which he has the right to make, but for these people have the problem of him not making rightly or wrongly the original version available on a decent format, this exsperates the problem, nobody begrudges him his vision if he was dissapointed with the effects, but changing the story crosses the line for some (Shaw Greedo etc) if it was effects they would not be so much of a problem. now to be fair to Lucas and Lucasfilm he lets people on here carry on with their O.T projects but millions who want the O.O.T dont know about this place and would as a thank you to loyal fans for 25 plus years release them, as they helped towards his success and fame and the success of Star Wars, would it hurt him without comprising his vision, not everybody is SFX obsessed .

You have called him greedy for "milking the cash cow" etc and Luca($) for going on Donald Trump and releasing a boxset, Im sure now people dont begrudge making money through his films though some of the merchandising is excessive and silly but you cant critise other people for saying that then do it yourself.

The originals people not liking the prequels, I am sure most have given them every chance, to me and others maybe the quality isnt there in the first two, and I am not just talking about Jar Jar, it seems no cocindence that a proportion of originals people like Sith but not the other two that should tell Lucas and people something...

Should GL have made the ST and then do the PT later
Time
I personally dont want any sequels should they happen

I think personnally George maybe should have done the Prequels in the late 80s and early 90s because one of the issues I have with the prequels, is the prequels look so more advanced than the Originals and dont believe everything would go that to pot in 20 years under the Empire, then use the technology available for any possible sequels but he would still be updating the things even then

The problem was Luke and co may have not been old enough, and I am sure Harrison Ford wouldnt have returned, depending on what Lucas wanted to do, and Lucas has now left the end of Jedi pretty final with the Emperor dead (which I believe wasnt always intended for Jedi) and the planets celebrating the overthrow of the Empire(with Yub Yub something may have been possible) EU or no EU explainations..............

I guess if you dismiss the prequels you hate the fact Hayden's ghost is in ROTJ, but for those who didn't grow up with just seeing Shaw, it might be different, so I showed both scenes to 3 kids and asked them if the Shaw or Hayden Anakin ghost made more sense, 2 of the 3 told me that young Anakin made more sense to them since "the old guy" doesn't look anything like the Anakin they know, my daughter though Anakin would probably choose to look young instead of old, and my son suprised me by saying both made sense to him, I asked him which one made you feel better about the ending he said the new Anakin.
I didn't get into detailed questions about redemption, I just wanted their gut reactions.

I agree with your analysis, I am not a Hayden hater though personally I do think someone maybe could have done a better job than him though he was alright in Sith to me, and like Sith

The problem I have with the change It seems out of order to me to replace a dead actor or any actor and it does change the story and the performance which I have commented on was bad and not fitting end to me IMO as it was a costume test not a filmed performance (and I always loved Shaw at the end) which won me over even less to the point with all these I said no more..., that have said issues apart i can accept Lucas reason which I am sure wasnt to sell more DVDs through the change, but it has created a lot of arguments about the redemption and the moral issue of wiping out an actors performance .

To me personally it was about five things which I hated from 97 and did spoil my enjoyment of The Classic Trilogy and the relutance to release the Thetrical Cuts on a decent format did annoy me and still does, but I think I would have gritted my teeth and carried on with them, but to me personally the removal of Sebastian Shaw from Jedi was it with Georges SEs(i was out of the SW picture for a time and didnt know of the change) and the perfomance wasnt any good and worthy, thankfully i found e-bay for a copy of o-ot eventually and found this place eventually.

The future Star Wars TV series

Adam if you support Lucas no matter what he does with Star Wars, why do you bash Lucas on other sites by calling him Luca($) for appearing on Donald Trump on theforce.net and for releasing another boxset on the official site, and on Amazon, you have bashed him on here doing that, you cant have it both ways...

The future Star Wars TV series

I know it is been said so many times on here, I just wish Lucas would do something other than Star Wars and put it to bed, I can honestly see Lucas just keep it going and going and maybe moaning how he wants to do other things, and I think was said before we will all watch it because it is Star Wars to start off with,

I am worried, that it will fail, it doesnt sound too promising to me personally. i am sure it will have blockbuster ratings for the first month because of the Star Wars name and if its crap I feel the figures will drop leaving only the people that eat up anything Star Wars to watch it which maybe well be enough, and the money Lucasfilm will make of the merchandising etc should help ease the blow slightly if does become a disaster.

I believe Star Wars should remain on the big-screen, and not be-litle itself to become a T.V Sci-Fi show as I believe Star Wars is/was always bigger than most/if any of the Sci-Fi franchises or any franchise out there

Star Wars is in a mess anyway with some fans thinking the Prequels have ruined Star Wars, let alone a TV series which may seal its fate

My new order for watching the saga 3,4,5,6

IMHO

The only two "masterpieces" are Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back, the two Star Wars movies which I personally believe deserve the title, and if I am honest with myself I dont believe no other Star Wars film has come near the quality of them two(IMO) only Jedi/Sith come anywhere near

Yes that how I am gonna watch it if I watch them as a saga. I watched Sith yesterday and enjoy it still,

To me its a prolouge, to the main event The Original Trilogy - Lukes Story, as I find the other two official chapters of Anakins story not very interesing and boring so I cant be bothered to see the "so called" proper way to see all of Anakins Story again,
Its a shame the other two were not as good and interesting as Sith (IMO), Anakins story may have been worth sitting through, but another problem is (the inconsistancies (for me personally) help ruin the effect for me any way so watching 3 4 5 6 cuts them down...

However, between us, we've read everything, and much of it is taken into account in the overall continuity. The entire catalog of published works comprises a vast history — with many off-shoots, variations and tangents — like any other well-developed mythology."

That, was written by Lucas Licensing employee Allan Kausch and Lucas Licensing Publishing Editior Sue Rostoni, the first official declaration from anyone at a Lucas company for 15 years

I typed "Lucasfilm Canon " in my browser and found that and this

Lucas to Cinescape #62 p49

"there are two worlds here" "there is my world which is the movies and there is that other world that has been created, which I say is the parallel universe- the licensing world of the books, games and the comic books, They dont intrude in my world, which is a select period of time, (but) they do intrude in my movies, I dont get involved in the parallel universe

Canon Considered the main story of Star Wars, this is essentialy the six films produced by Lucas and Lucasfilm

Continuty The official continuation of Star Wars storyline in EU products...............

Changes you want (or don't want) to the 2007 archival editions

It baffles me too why he came up the idea and made Greedo become one of worst shots in filmaking history.

I am with the guys on the thread that Shaw, to me was out of order, saga or no saga, Even putting up with 4 or 5 things I didnt like, this was personally the straw that finally broke the camels back as far as George's S.Es of Star Wars for me.

No, thats not true, two guys who have posted it on the IMDB and both are liars and one has offered links to false photoshop pictures

The thing I find interesting about all these lists, if they were genuine, I would imagine Lucasfim would be interested in who leaked them to the net, and pursue them, if they were aware, as they not seeminly officialy sanctioned to be published by Lucas or Lucasfilm.

Sometimes do you feel like you should give up on the cause?

Did you read that thread a few weeks ago, some people on here would have no problem with updated special effects in a O,T SE but when things like Greedo firing first, Hayden in Jedi and pointless Darth Vader shuttle scenes etc are added, people draw the line..........

I know you not banned from T.F.n or S.W com I was joking that why I put the smilie there, I dont give a crap what version you like, but dont preach and say somethings horrible because you dont think it goes with your holy Saga
