So how did a film that was 25% complete get Oscar nominations for Best Picture, director and screenplay? If George really believes that then he should have refused all the nominations and pulled the movie from theatres!!!

Because that 25% was groundbreaking for 1977, but still no where near what Lucas had in mind.

But he didnt Mind making millions of dollars and picking up the awards, they were not billed as 25% completed films to the fans queuing up and the Awards people..........

Hey George, make better movies, and we gladly defend them.

Exactly!! I have never let or tried not to let my liking or the Classic Trilogy get in the way of liking the Prequels especially 1 and 2, to me Episode 1 is a bad film and Episode 2 slighty better but not on the level of Classics, and I dont believe many, if any Classic Trilogy fans wanted to hate the Prequels before they began because of some loyalty to his Old Trilogy.

I dont know the demographic but i am sure there are alot of under 25s that dont like the Prequels, I do know all the Prequel Bashing that goes on is not just the over 25s, and have seen of younger guys at it around the net, just as I am sure there are lot of over 25s who love the Prequels and love every second of it,as Ive also seen alot of that around the net, another thing i find telling is outside the Star Wars community(i go on general film sites/forums discussions with non SW friends) the Prequels are generally not liked and have a bad rep for things like CG overkill etc etc, the things that the O.T guys critise them for.and the originals are more liked/prefered....so I think George could be making an excuse for what some/many see as poor movies in a way..

A list of strange interpretations in the Prequels.

I just wish he had not wasted precious screentime with utter crap like Jar Jar and the Gungans, underwater monsters and an everlasting pod-race, and moved the film and prequel story along quicker

I dont see no reason why we couldnt have had an older Anakin in all three, and im sure Lucas or if he hired a screenwriter could have got round the issue of Anakin missing his mother and the death of his mother

The friendship with Obi Wan could have been more explored especially if he got rid of the Qui-Gonn character, the manipulation of Anakin could also have started earlier, and maybe seen more of his attributes as the best starpilot in the galaxy and a cunning warrior...

I am not really obsessive as I was as a kid/younger adult and before The Prequels so it may/has have/had a effect on my obsession.Revenge of the Sith slighty wanting the O.O.T officialy, this site and what goes on, and my love of the Classic Trilogy is what keeps me going in Star Wars this is what gives Star Wars precedent over my other film interests, I am now not bothered about EU crap, the other two movies that much if at all, buying lots/any (of )merchandise,or any future Star Wars projects when a time ago I would have been enthuasiac about all.
But one day i may leave Star Wars all behind as I think others have said should the O.O.T ever get released officialy and I will let the Prequels and SE guys have their time, but my love of the Classic Trilogy will not ever go away.... .

As some have listed their other Prequel experiences other than TPM, I shall do mine, after TPM I didnt have the same enthuasiam about AOTC and Star Wars on a whole as I previously did have. but I saw Clones at the cinema eventually, other than I what saw to be and still do see the horrendous love scenes I kinda enjoyed it, less so now, but still didnt have that feeling I had seen something truely great and something that gave me the buzz the Original Trilogy did, and left it at one cinema viewing. Now for Revenge of the Sith, I got interested in it a bit more, saw a few spoilers and was a bit excited, and saw it at one of the first showings and really enjoyed it, and actually felt the same buzz I felt when seeing the Original Trilogy at the cinema, so I actually went back and saw it another four times and still enjoyed it, no I didnt think it was as good as the Original Star Wars, Empire or maybe even Jedi but it was good Star Wars film to me never the less....

In a way it is pretty damning of LucasFilm that the editing and pacing was so 'off' and overdrawn that a few fans with imagination and some cheap software made it feel more like Star Wars than LucasFilm could.

I will go along with that, I havent seen the Phantom Editor version, but have seen the other two, and they have done a remarkable job of turning the Theatrical-DVD version into a better film.

In all honesty we never bothered with on the big screen and my friends are big Star Wars fans we thought it was that bad and we were dissapointed, and can imagine what it was like for people who went to see it, it was o.k and we were enjoying it until Jar Jar appeared and it was like what the hell is this thing, and just could believe how bad and boring it was and couldnt wait for it to finish and it was probably worse in a cinema...

I thought it sucked, I never bothered to go and a see it at the cinema, me and my friends saw about a week before on a quality pirate VHS and couldnt believe what crap it was, so we didnt bother wasting our money too go see it on the big screen, the only S.W movie i have never seen on a big screen in 28 years of Star Wars

At the time I couldnt believe this was actualy supposed to be a Star Wars movie, me an my friends found it very boring and found the Jar Jar and the Gungans and some of the pod-racers utually ridiculous, and my mates couldnt believe and mentioned they couldnt believe it was same George Lucas that had brought out the Original Trilogy released this rubbish.
