The Star Wars Saga - From a newcomer's point of view

I know we have to deal with it Wouldnt be nice of him for some of the people who stayed loyal to him for over 28 years to release it for a little while so they see the film as they did as a child. instead he decides to reward the loyal fans by letting his company market stuff like Revenge of the Sith toilet roll, Darth Vader garden sprinkler and other wonderful items for them to buy

When did you give up with the Prequels, TPM, AOTC, or ROTS?
Time
As much as think the other two Prequels arent as good, I do really like Revenge of the Sith, and only really the find the balcony scene and some of other Anakin Padme dialouge really bad but not to me nothing as bad as in the other two... and dont laugh and come after me. I do actually prefer it to Return of the Jedi in some ways(not saying its better....)

at least aotc focused on the characters, however badly

I was o.k with TPM til Jar Jar opened his mouth then i was like WTF!!! and then he started playing up and I thought this gonna be shit and it was, it just to me never got going, and there was so much waste in it...............

Clones is more reedemable and dont hate it as I do Menace but it is still bad, i could stomach a sitting of the offical DVD if I could be bothered where as I cant with TPM, but some of the dialouge does really make me cringe and again there was waste, I still cant decide which I find more boring, since I hate Menace more I will go with that

It would like to a hear about and find more interesting, a proper "non-biased" sitting of this so called saga by proper film fans to review the actual quality of each actual film, not how good the effects are and how slow the film is etc, to see if they agree that the newer ones are seen by many as mainly crappy and the older films seen as better films etc etc, and see if they pick out the alledged plot holes, continuity errors which some people are picking out, to see if the saga is indeed flawless, it would more interesting than finding out about whether the P.T has better effects than O.T, the P.T is faster-paced etc

This is what he posted before he edited it........

Do you reliase this is an O.O.T site, where people spend their precious time and money preserving that Trilogy and all you do is trash it no wonder you are not liked, and do you expect people, and do you understand why on a O.O.T site people dont love and bash the S.E and The Prequels when they are pissed off the way they love to see the Star Wars Trilogy is not officialy available and/or plain just dont like them.

I am sure there are Prequel and maybe SE fans that come on here but i am sure they respect the O.O.T and dont trash and bait and flame O.O.T fans and accuse them of nostalgia and other crap like you do and i am sure people have no problem with their like of SE or/and The Prequels back

No, I picked up the first vol cheap for collection sake and didnt think much of it and thought vol 2 was better but I dont think as good as the films, how ever much I dont like Episode 1, If truth be told I dont hate Episode 2 as much as Episode 1 and probably could sit through the DVD if i felt like it, but i just found/find them underwhelming and just dont find parts enjoyable and both drag to me,

Now thing is actually sit through the fan-editted versions and can enjoy them and find them watchable. though they could have been better, as could the whole thing i feel if Lucas had done things differently

Im not really sure, but TPM was a big blow, I just totally lost interest in Star Wars for the first time since 1977 a few months after, it was such as dissapointment and maybe felt the Prequels were only heading one way and maybe it was because i was now older and now had a lot of other interests and they took over, and I didnt care less about Clones when it was being made. now I saw it two weeks after it was released and enjoyed it, but realised it wasnt as good or as special as the Originals, but I enjoyed for a time, but it didnt have any staying power, so I gave up then probably....

BUT

out of curiosity a month or two before Sith, i started reading spoilers etc and became interested in it.and saw it on one of the first showings and liked it.........

True, I agree the Classics arent flawless and the acting and dialouge isnt shakespearen, but there is no way after seeing all the movies that the Prequel acting and dialouge is the same or better IMO, and that the movies are better IMHO, the difference to me unfortunately comes down to George not getting proper screenwriters and directors etc

THE Most Awesome Scene in Star Wars
Time

I do like the film, but there was nothing l hadnt seen before in a film, and as good as it was done it wasnt groundbreaking like Star Wars was at the time(well to me IMO) but then i guess to a young person it would be, now one problem I have other than obvious ones, there are times in the battle when I wonder what side is shooting at what side(maybe i should have read some technical book or it may be just me)

whatever I think about the first two Prequels and where I felt Lucas went wrong with them and how bad i think they are, I will give Lucas his due he delivered on Sith, and i do like it, but it is still to me no where near the quality of Star Wars or The Empire Strikes Back and on some days do put it above Return of the Jedi just not totally sure...

The thing for me personally I feel is if he hadnt ballsed up Episodes 1 & Episode 2, Episode 3 would have been even better...

Found this quote from Lucas about changing the Original SW

I think you are being harsh on The Bizzle and find his posts interesting and is right about not bashing George just for the fun of it, and understands the situation. my problem is with the other fella who on other boards bashes worse than us by calling him Luca$ greedy milking the cash cow and how releasing a boxset and going on a T.V makes him sick in the stomach and how he stoops to a new low when he does these things and now how he compares Speilberg to Lucas for allowing CG to preference over a story on his W.O.T. W review on Amazon but then preaches on here how wonderful Lucas is and can seemingly do no wrong, thats wrong not what The Bizzle is doing

I personally have no problem with the Wampa, as for the shuttle I didnt like the Vader platform walk, or the landing on the Star Destroyer from day 1, but have never minded the Shuttle actually in flight as it heads to the Destroyer its just the parts before and after I hate, but it has no seemingly logical reason for its inclusion in the first place as its does nothing to the story except hurt the flow as for Boba voice it wasnt done very well and wasnt Temurras finest performance ever. and have always prefered the old one....

Back in Time
Time

I would start in the 70s

So I could go to 1977 and see Star Wars not a New Hope in the cinema with Han shooting first. and all the excitement that followed..........

then onto

1980 so I could see The Empire Strikes Back and see Vader telling Luke he was his father and the shock.....

to

1983 so I could see Return of the Jedi with Sebastian Shaw as Anakin, and god help us Yub Yub

finally

the 90s

so I could see Lucas and tell him that I am from the future and that any SEs of Star Wars he was planning may not be universally popular and accepted by all the fans, and the Prequels he was thinking or planning to do, the first two would turn out crap, and a long eared CG fishman he was thinking or planning on would turn out to be the most hated chracter in film history.....

I actually should of included in my post, but this excuse about the fans not liking them because of loyalty to the Old Trilogy is along the same lines as one of his other excuses (to paraphrase) "that the problem was the fans just wanted Darth Vader to run round with a lightsaber killing everyone. and thats what they wanted in Episode 1 and were dissapointed" to me that he is kind of lost touch, I certainly didnt expect that nor have anyone I have spoken to, prehaps he can feel that he can put out any old effort as Star Wars and it will make billions of dollars and he doesnt reliase the fans can actually tell what is a good film and what isnt, and thinks they would love it just because its Star Wars and was surprised when people didnt.............
