McCallum comments on the TV series and the prequel special editions
Time

I just cant believe how the once mighty Star Wars has fallen, from what I believe was its peak in the 1980s to this, If someone would have told me in the 80s that one day that Star Wars would have ended up like this, i would laughed my head off...

I kinda feel for some who didnt experience it at its peak then, so they could experience it without crap that surrounds it these days...........

ESB (OOT version) - My thoughts
Time
I am probably more fussy about watching Star Wars, than any other film because for me its my favourite of all time.

My favourite is O.O.T version and my preffered watch., but dont mind and do watch the fan-editted versions from here, because what i considered the main "offences " that silly slapstick stuff in Mos Eisley and Greedo shooting first have been cut...............

I thought the 80s Marvel Comics were cool and loved them as a kid and some of the stories were not that bad and actually quite good.

Those and Splinter are the only "EU" if it they could and would be classified as such, I have ever read, I have never been bothered at all, with all the other stuff really, it seemed to me I would rather want to use my imagination if I wanted to, rather than read a story which I felt wasnt fully endorsed by Lucas.

No Golden Globe nominations for Sith
Time
I dont think Sith deserves any major awards, some technical ones maybe and while its no where near as good or like it as much as Star Wars or The Empire Strikes Back, i think parts are better than Return of the Jedi not to say its better made, but i like them both the same maybe, which is alot, but not as much as my big two Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back, and it is most definatly an improvement on Menace and Clones......

It is interesting and cool to see D.Es edit of Star Wars(ANH) with the head-bonking, the Vader gesture and the other mistakes edited out, once you know they are there, it is intresting to see what the film is like with them cut out.......

POLL: How many times have you seen The Star Wars Holiday Special?
Time
the first time was painful and just thought what a load of "Beep" and gave up eventually, but i watched it again recently, and there were still parts that were i considered very bad but i could see a certain "charm" in there and saw why people like Adam like it, and got through a whole sitting, though it isnt something i will ever rush back to see or ever see again, least i can say to myself i have sat through the whole Holiday Special without feeling too much pain...

obi wans name in ANH
Time
To me why he is called Ben in ANH probably didnt need any explaining, nor did why Luke kept his Skywalker name, i take it he never gave his surname out, or it was probably popular name though the reasons may appear in EU or some spinoff.
Its all the issues that have been brought up, some of which i would have problems with. Why didnt Lucas cover these all throughly, which could be done without him needing to dumb it down, instead of leaving it up to peoples intereptation and having people explain for him, and what they think the answers are...

Reasons to hate the Special Editions

I agree with Adam "shock"
Me personally as annoyed/cheesed off i am he wont release the O.O.T etc, i will give him/Lucasfilm his/their due they do seemingly not mind/turn a blind a eye to the O.T and P.T edits which I do watch if I want to watch the SE etc and like better than the Offical O.T & P.T DVDs and semmingly dont mind/turn a blind eye to the preservation work of the O.O T which goes on here, when they could be very anal about it. but that does not excuse the O.O.T being released officialy etc however, but i will give credit where i think it is due.

Fondest Memory from the OT Days
Time
as we are reminicing, I just have so many great memories, of the razmatazz of it all and then seeing the original Star Wars in the first week, and the big queues to get in and excitement of wanting to see it as many times as possible, then the excitement of waiting for Empire and Jedi and all that surrounded it, to the collecting of the O.T figures and the ships and playsets, I had pratically everything at one time, the funny thing i made loads of friends at school because of our shared interest of Star Wars and the O.T and still the 22-28 etc years i still know some of them, so we can still talk of those days of when it was just the Original Trilogy and what we did in those days.....

IGN is on our side.
Time
This may or may not be a common occurence with every/any review, but I have a review of the 2004 DVD Trilogy in a DVD review mag over here, where on their review they said under strict instructions from Lucasfilm and Fox, they were only allowed to view the first-half hour of each episode plus the extras despite pleas from them, so they couldnt confirm the new changes to the quote "much maligned Special Editions of the 90s".

so reviewers may not have been/be able to comment much...

Fondest Memory from the OT Days
Time

One of my favourite memories was a time in the 80s (84 85 ??? cant remember the exact year) I would have been in my very early teens, me and four friends, went to our local cinema to see the "Star Wars Triple Bill" the first time we saw the films back to back, we had a great time we got there early in the afternoon, the cinema was packed, and as soon as the 20th Century Fox logo started up to begin the fun, a big cheer went up, it was cool, there was like a 15 minute break between each movie, where we could have stuff like ice cream and soft drinks, and at the end of Jedi and big cheer went up around the cinema...

The Boards Today
Time
I have a problem with him burying Lucas elsewhere then coming on here and acting as he if is wonderful like i have said, I find it disrespectful of the people who on this very site who have given/give up time and money to preserve this Trilogy for him to trash it and have this attitude of his on the same very site,

I may or may not hate the SE and Prequels probably as much as some, and have no problem at all with different opinions at all but it is this I am right all time preachy attitude he has, you are all wrong, and then when comes up with crap like we love and hate things becasue of nostalgia etc etc
