ROTS and the Oscars!
Time

I am dissapointed that Batman Begins didnt get a lot of nominations, as for Sith the effects though great, it was nothing new and groundbreaking, and though i quite like the film, it didnt deserve any major awards and I dont think it even deserved the makeup award as Palpatines makeup looked awful, i do find it amusing that old excuses have popped around the net such as "the academy hates Lucas"... even though the original trilogy was nominated and won awards

It just that I thought the man was god, and couldnt do no wrong even with some of "ideas" that i wasnt keen on for the 97 SE, but after seeing TPM my opinion and my admiration for him changed over the years, he has restored a bit of faith in my eyes with Revenge of the Sith, but he still does and did things that have let me down and prevent me from gushing and having total faith in him like i would have done in 80s and early 90s

did lucas destroy star wars?
Time
Star Wars is no where near what it was at its peak in the 1980s and dont think it regain that status because the newer films arent seen as good as the original films and there are other franchises and films which are better than the new Star Wars films, when I feel in the 80s or whatever the Star Wars films were untouchable and it was cool to be a Star Wars fan,now you even have original fans that dont even like what has become of the older films or like the newer films so the whole situation is a mess with loads of unhappy fans which in the 80s etc everyone was seemingly content, and it is impossible to revitalise it to the level of the 80s etc

No, Star Wars is too big for T.V, it just seems to me like another excuse to milk the Star Wars cash cow, enough people feel the SE and The Prequels have already ruined Star Wars, and I fear the TV series will fail, so do we need another nail in the coffin maybe the final one, for this once proud franchise

No I dont like the Clone Wars, and the Prequels to me are the Prequels, and can watch them as entertainment, but Lucas couldnt tie the two sets of films together for me, as i said it maybe its me nitpicking and fussy or whatever but i have problems with the continuty inconsisties and parts of the story dont work for me as i dont find a few parts logical and in cases believable so I find it hard seeing as a cohesive six part story but instead two different trilogies

They were fun movies, but they didn't work. I'm going to sound selfish, but they weren't how I envisioned it...or anywhere near what I envisioned, for that matter.

Well, that's the problem. All original fans had 16 years to come up with their own ideas for what had to happen. And when it didn't, well...

I dont agree, certainly not for me, I didnt envision anything and was happy to let Lucas tell the story his way. but didnt think there would be such problems that IMO have occured such as continuty etc

I dont mind Lucas making it up as he went along or the story changing over a period of years, but should IMO have kept it seemingly consistent with the original films and not leave things up to the interpretation of the viewer, and keep the story logical and slightly believable(which in my interpretation of certain events arent) and do the Prequel story so you dont need EU and god knows what else to fill in all the gaps when IMO it should be presented in the films.

9 Years Ago Today....

I liked the 97SE for what is was a new version of Star Wars at the cinema and it was great the see it back on the big screen, the "bad" changes didnt really bother me at the cinema and enjoyed them for what they were, it was only with the VHS release of the 97 trilogy i began to dislike some of the "bad" changes as mentioned but I still had my O.O.T VHSs to fall back on, but the 2004 DVD was just a step too far for me with some of his new revisions.

I also enjoy them as fun/Star Wars films to watch, but they dont work for me as part of the overall six film series, maybe im too picky and fussy but i seem to have problems with the story and find continuty errors and inconsisties with the Classic Trilogy they seem to work as two different trilogies to me not one cohesive six film story

Time to grow up.
Time
I dont care, if you dont agree my behaviour but I object to be called or reffered to as a pirate because I own Star Wars fan-edits and the preserved O.O.T, this is only time I really own non official DVDs, I am extremly grateful to the people here who have helped me enjoy my favourite films again. I have bought and still buy Lucas products for over 28 years now untold VHSs all the DVDs etc, if he were to release the O.O.T i would buy a least 2 sets, I own over 700 official DVDs, I dont need someone to preach to me if I am doing wrong I am old enough to decide for myself, and accusing me of being a pirate by obtaining for nothing a few edits so I can enjoy my favourite films again as I did as a kid.

I wouldnt mind out of curiosity one day seeing his final versions, but not shelling out for a boxset just to see it once, I would probably just hire them from the video shop or wait til it comes on TV..

Which did you prefer, the SE or the 2004 DVD edition?

I still love the OOT but dont mind some of the changes, its just there are changes that i am just not so keen on, so I dont enjoy or like the official ones as much I do as say ADMs edits or the OOT, thats what i think the problem is the lack of choice with the OOT unfortunatly not available and is frustrating for people who dont like some or any of the changes

I am looking more forward to this, than anything Lucas is gonna do for the 30th Anniversary of Star Wars.....

What if he released the OOT that year?

Well yes, that would be different case completly, Im happy with the great discs the great editors and preservation people turn out here, so I have no real interest in the "Archival" set other than the extras if they include things like the deleted scenes etc but i am not parting with my cash just for the extras. and seeing the films in 3-D doesnt appeal to me, i may have wanted to make the effort if they were shown normally not in 3-D

Yoda talking in OT vs PT, way different

Ive never had too much of a problem with his backward "Prequel" speak though some are of the things he spoke backward would have been better if it was more consistent with the way he spoke in the Classic Trilogy, though I do think some of his actions in the Prequel Trilogy did seem to me a little inconsistent with his characterization in the Classic Trilogy.
