I can’t see the difference between a dark/navy blue and purple or blood red and woodland green. It’s a nightmare being a colour blind graphic designer.

Damn, just thought. I’m not sure if my source footage has the Skenera’s LUT added. Once these scenes are done it shouldn’t be an issue to switch them out if I make a mistake. (Be awake 25 hours and counting)

This is what I was wondering. Would definitely be best if you remove any LUT before exports.

Yeah, it’ll try to remember for the next lot of scenes. I’m wondering how the LUT will change this effect.

Just to recap, tone down blue or lighten blue? And reduce the mist in the cave?

I don’t know if it’s just me, but the new effects for the crackle saber are almost too subtle compared to what kewlfish was doing originally.

These are kewlfish settings with the opacity pushed up. It could be the particle layer that softens the edges?

I’m not sure what Hal is doing but I’m using a pitch and tone shift of Kylos Saber with Luke’s sound underneither. The panning of the sound it gonna be more had work than the crackling effect, IMO.

Looks excellent as usual. Will say the mist is a really nice touch but a bit too obvious, would tone that way down. As well I kind of think the added blue glow is a bit unnecessary, sort of overpowering. But then I’m not sure how much of that is what you’ve changed for this and what you’re doing in general in terms of color correction, as I’ve noticed, color-wise, your clips look a bit different than the film.

Yeah, I’m totally guessing the blue as I can only see primary colours. I made it pink at first thinking it was ice blue 🤣

I’ll give the other bits a toning down and give it another pass. Thanks for your help.

WIP Cave Crackling Saber - Things I’ve changed

 1. Added a crackling core effect
 2. Added fire particles
 3. Added a slightly bluer hue to the glow
 4. I thought the cave would be damp and wet so I’ve added some mist
 5. Toned down the whole effect as I had to up the brightness in order to see it compared to the day shots

I was looking at Rey’s new saber in the final scene, and I was wondering if there was anyway that the framing of the jilt could be adjusted so that the whole hilt is in frame and then we see Rey actually ignite both sides of it?

There are hints throughout the film towards her having a saberstaff (when she’s training she pulls a stick to herself and uses it as a staff, and when she’s on the death star her vision has her with a saberstaff.) And it would be nice if that had some sort of visual pay off, even if it’s only in this final scene.

That’s a great idea. I think it can be done but the amount of time it would take to execute a good-looking scene would be way too much for a few seconds.

I was actually going to commission an additions scene of Rey building her Saber and merging Leia and Luke’s broken kyber crystals into one to give her the purple Saber but Covid has stopped that idea in it’s tracks.

Kewlfish did send me the templates but I ended up doing them from scratch because for some reason the whole template was out of position when I added my source material to the composition. (My computer is being a compete ****)

Hopefully I can use his version for the cave scene cos he did an amazing job at masking Poes face…

V4 of Crackling Saber Training scene
Things that I’ve changed in this version.

 1. “Crackled the heck out of it”
 2. Added fire particles to match Kylos Saber
 3. Added more glow
 4. Added more core crackle
 5. Added more flicker to simulate the instability of the Kyber crystal.

Let me know your thought. I think this scene is close to being finished.

How about using the footage of Rey waking up from TLJ and have the whole sequel trilogy a dream?

One better: Grogu wakes up from a dream and the sequels was just a nightmare. 😛

Everybody loves Grogu. Haha! (Looks at “The Child” Sideshow statue)

@Burbin - Wow, nice! Thanks for turning off the lights on the castle shot. Really nice.

Are you flexing? 😉

Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Redux Ideas thread

Why do you keep slagging off people that can’t be here to defend themselves? Really says a lot, man.

So, you wanna use and have access to their scenes before the final edit but you don’t wanna help them with costings despite them investing more than they’ll ever get back, and you’re against people helping them fund their projects? 🤔

They’re not charging for their finished feature edits. They’re just showing investors the progress of each scene which are being created from scratch using Hollywood grade VFX artists.

So, how about you stop bringing this drama to these threads and get back to the subjects!
