I’ve been working on the Mustafar, Coruscant and glitchy Saber scenes all day.

Mustafar release needs a custom tie fighter animation for the establishing shot. I’ve finished the clean footage and I have the model but can’t get the speed right. If anyone can help please let me know.

Coruscant is done but the planet shot is very blurry. I’ve messaged Poppa but if anyone has high res image please let me know.

Glitchy Saber is looking good but I’ll need some help with contrasting as I’m colourblind.

I’ve also been thinking of keeping Hans dice a reality in TLJ and having Ben look at them just before Han shows up on DSII. I’m thinking of reshooting the scene IRL as I couldn’t get the disappearing dice looking right before they disappear but what are your thoughts?

What Coruscant shot are you working on?

Perhaps poppasketti could add TIEs to a finished clean plate shot. That’s exciting!

And what’s the dice idea? That he’ll look down at them in his hand using TLJ footage? I guess you’d have to not have them disappear earlier, you mean?

Kylo standing on the bridge as Coruscant appears in the window.

Poppa is too busy to do any work atm and I’ve exhausted all my other sources. It would be epic if I could get the timing right.

Yeah, Exactly. I’ve been working on a scene for my TLJ cut as I didn’t want the Dice to disappear and I recently came up with the idea of adding them to TROS so I’ve just purchased the Dice and looking for suitable gloves to shoot the scene myself. Thought it would be a nice touch to give Han showing up a little more detail.

Does anyone have a super high res image/footage of Coruscant? I’ve removed the ships from Ep.II but the grain and quality of that release was awful compared to recent high-def. The 7 ish ones in google search are all pixelated or blurry.

Maybe this guy has something:

Thanks man, It’s that exactly opening shot that I used from the original but it seems so blurry compared to the TLJ footage I’m mixing it with.

I think that would be a cool place to insert the World Between Worlds clip of Luke if anywhere. Also I can’t really tell what Leia is saying, but I like the concept.

I wanted to insert the World Between Worlds clip of Luke but I couldn’t find it. I need to improve on the mixing of the dialogue.

Is this it?

hahaha now watching this after a long time, I don’t like it.

I think the back shots are incredible. Maybe the lighting on the close up looks weird but to light a face in that was without natural shadowing must be a nightmare.

Wait, you’re changing Poe’s clothes? I’m curious about that if you have a sample…

I’m keeping Leia alive until the end so I’m moving Poe and Finn coming back from the mission much later on. He’s wearing a gray shirt but I need to change it to an orange jumpsuit when he’s saying his final words to Leia. I’ve tried many different ways but his shirt colour is far too close to his skin tone plus being colourblind is a complete nightmare.

Just posted a Faulty Saber test video here https://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Star-Wars-Episode-IX-The-Last-Hope-Help-Wanted-Finishing-This-Edit-WIP/id/75067/page/6

Yeah, Pretty much!

On another note, The glitchy Saber effects were pretty easy to do but I’m just trying to find a good spot where the blue glow isn’t too dominant in the rain reflections. That’s gonna be the only issue making this effect work. I’m thinking of using a close-up piece of footage from when Rey ignites the Saber before she jumps Kylos ship. I’ve cut that scene in my edit so it’ll be good to use it elsewhere.

Thoughts?

Oh nice, I didn’t know you were collaborating with other members of these forums. I really liked your Kylo’s scar heal edit, will you be making your shots available for other editors to use in their own edits, like Hal’s TROS Ascendent?

Kylo’s scar heal edit? I must have missed that. Does anyone have a link to it?

Here’s an early pass. It took a few more to get right. https://youtu.be/GyF5ggzFuZg

This is a pretty cool concept and decent execution but I have a few issues with this clip. For one, at this point we’ve already seen Rey force-heal his much more serious saber wound - in turn, I feel like this little scar would’ve already healed during that process. Second, I feel like the scar should close and then fade evenly versus the linear ‘erasing’ effect we see here. The scar itself, however, does look very natural and realistic.

Thanks man, This clip was a fairly older first pass. We did a few more since then which look much better. I did a full breakdown on the delay of the healing in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhGEUdP3Vq0

I’m glad you like the concept. It did work out well in the final cut.

Hello! These are the shots in which it has been possible for me to change Luke’s hair, there are other shots in which it is impossible: a thousand generations … it is impossible, for me at least.
I have also lost two kilos of weight to Luke

Thanks Chase, I did try to blur it a little more but I think that’s the best I can do.

Jonh are you able to fix that last flappy strand of hair at 0:06 and 0:23? Other than that it’s perfect. I also PM’d you about the force ghost image. Great job, dude.

That’s great. That effect and sound can even be mimicked for yet another call back. It would also give Rey reason for burying it at the end that seemed a little weird.

https://youtu.be/nZ-xI1W6_7c?t=80 1:20

I think is really easy to have an effect like this. I also like the symbolism of Rey beeing so consumed and drived by her anger on Kylo and that whole situtation that she kinda explodes and stabs Kylo. Just like the Saber that is so overused and forced to be in there, it craclkes ad fails.
That is great editing guys, a simple change enrichs the movie’s themes.

Yeah, I’ve already done some nice tweaks to that scene but this effect would give another great little detail to why her rage gets the better of her. I’ll wait to get the high res crackling scene and see if this works in reality.

Fantastic idea RogueLeader.
