I would not object to some effects clean up and fixes (e.g. garbage mattes, lightsabres, etc.)

Also, I would be OK with certain non-distracting changes such as the detention block corridor and the tractor beam font.

(Using the DVD version of 'Raiders' as an example, only a tiny minority of people complained about the digital removal of the snake reflection, boulder track, blue-screen fringes and so on.)

How the hell would it be advertising for TR-47, when this is the very place you can get that stuff for free?

There might be lurkers on the forum who don't know how to use torrents, usenet, etc. and who consider it less hassle to just pay the seller's asking price.

Also, one of the factors search engines use to rank a site's popularity is the number of incoming links.

Therefore, we don't allow any links to sites selling fan edits or bootlegs.

MOONTRAP DVD PROJECT (* unfinished project *)
Time

I had a quick look and couldn't find anything on an official French DVD release. If it looks, as you say, better than your NTSC LD rip then it's unlikely to be from VHS; maybe it's a bootleg from the French LD?

If you capture your NTSC LD audio and video, it's not too difficult to pair up the audio with a different video source. You might want to start a thread in the technical help forum, when you've had a chance to compare your sources, and you know exactly what you are aiming to do.

You do have a point, the description of the project is a little "cryptic".

The actual DVD is just as strange. From the moment the opening crawl ends, you get assaulted by a barrage of media clips, as if a kid with ADD has grabbed your remote and started flipping through the news channels.

However, it makes for strangely compulsive viewing. Before I knew it I had watched the first half an hour, covering topics such as the "Tool of Satan" hoax and fan-hatred of Jar Jar Binks.

I didn't get to the stuff about the leaked workprint, the take-down of elitetorrents and the "Backstroke" bootleg, which was the main reason I downloaded this documentary (sorry, "documediamentary"). I certainly don't think anyone could watch the whole 3 hours in one sitting!

Technically, the disc is very well put together - the intros and animated menus look professional and polished, and the editing is flawless. AV quality is variable, due to the different sources used, but all credit to the creator for the painstaking amount of time it must have taken to splice this together from the hundreds of different sources used.

Has anyone tried downloading the torrent file for v1.2, dropping the v1.1 ISO file into the download location, then forcing a manual hash check?

If you're lucky (i.e. both ISOs have been authored in the same way) 75-80% of the file will match, meaning you only have to re-download the remaining changed portion of the file.

If that works that would save you guys ALOT of ratio, and you would only be grabbing waht you didn't get off the newsgroups.

Good idea M if it works.

Didn't work. :-(

@AvP - one error on your cover, that particular disc was put together by See No Evil, not djsmokingjam.

Now what I DO HAVE already is the 2004 DVD release and the 2006 (Bonus Discs) of the Theatrical Cut. However as everyone knows the bonus discs are non-anamorphic.

Non-anamorphic meaning that IF i had a widescreen TV they would show up weird. Right??

No, they would not show up "weird".

(why can't we just post links??? this doesn't make sense to me)

There's a very good reason we don't allow posting of links. If you don't agree with our rules, you are welcome to go somewhere else.

And if you're going to copy/paste from demonoid, make sure you just copy the text. I've just had to remove a load of links from your first post.

Howard The Duck - special edition (Released)

Thanks for the comparison shots DJ. It's interesting that, aside from the obvious difference in colour, the HDTV2DVD version also looks sharper, more detailed and has less cropping. I'll have to get around to looking at the PAL release.

What are your plans for a true HD release - i.e. are you going to use the 5.1 audio off the DVD? And are you going to re-instate the censored scenes with video from the DVD upscaled?
