I'm pretty sure I matched the frame counts to the telecine bootleg.
I'm pretty sure I matched the frame counts to the telecine bootleg.
I'm interested in seeing this as well - despite my misgivings about its description, the DVD screenshots do look very good.
Zombie - don't take this the wrong way - but when you're making copies of this, please ensure you make exact copies, without stripping anything or altering any of the files on the disc. (I recommend you use something like ImgBurn to make the copies.)
Why do I say this? Click the link in my sig for more details...
I have found the opposite to be true - there are posts dating from 2005 that you can find using the forum search (if you're lucky!), but that are not indexed in Google.

An exact match of the positioning is unfortunately out of the question as you have to pay attention to TV overscan and different image cropping on the Gout.
Yes, I found this too.
I originally tried the match the theatrical subtitles when doing the Pwnage Edition, but ended up squeezing them horizontally to ensure that they remained in the safe title area.
I've just uploaded a GOUT-synced AC3 file to a sharing service - PM me for link. Link now expired.
When I have the time, I'll re-upload the original WAV to the newsgroup.

Ok, fair enough. I think you could just remove the image...
I don't have access to make adjustments to user profiles, so I couldn't have removed the image. Therefore, deleting the thread and banning the user was the only option.

In all seriousness, can we get some clarification on what threads will get deleted?
You probably shouldn't get too attached to threads started by trolls for trolling purposes who then go on to get banned.
Ok, fair enough. But is this a policy change? I've got plenty of threads on my list that were simply locked instead of deleted.
No, it's not a policy change. There are plenty of similar threads in the forum trash that were deleted rather than locked. The decision to leave, lock or delete is a subjective one, and depends on the content of the thread and to some extent the views of the mod who is reading it.
When I came across the Bobba Fett thread early on, I decided not to take any action. Later, after it had deteriorated rapidly, Jay noticed and removed it.
I think locking the thread for a few days, letting me archive it, and then deleting it would be a reasonable compromise.
Sometimes that's just not reasonable. Take for example the recent troll who had what appeared to be a diseased vagina as his profile image. That kind of shit has to go immediately.

And a little game you may have seen before...
FYI the first image doesn't show up - you cannot copy/paste an image from the windows clipboard into the post editor, it doesn't work like that.
I still get a rush whenever I see this machine. I remember the first time I beat the Boba Fett level and the Vader level on the same play. When I find a machine that isn't modded (jammed joystick, unresponsive buttons) and with a good bright screen I can blast through all the way to the end on one play.
That's pretty good going, I consider myself lucky if I complete the first level. I think I've only ever got to Boba Fett once.
I can remember the first time I beat OutRun.
There is no rule against typing "tehPARADOX". Just please don't post links to the download.

... Dolby Digital decoders when downmixing automatically engage non-defeatable dynamic range compression in accordance with the DRC profile specified in the AC3 bitstream, the end result of which is a hideous reduction in the power of the soundtrack.
In my experience, DRC is always defeatable - there has been an option to turn it off in every DVD player or Dolby Digital receiver I've owned.
For dialogue normalisation, however, the opposite is true.
(Edit - oh wait, you're talking about the downmixing, not decoding? I don't know then...)
Agree that a 448kbps AC3, pre-synched ready to simply mux with the video, would be my preference.

The main source for the 1977 mono theatrical mix came from “The Mono Mix Restoration Project” and would not have been possible here without their hard work. The track, while mostly complete, contained audio drop outs and some gaps, which were filled from a second mono source. All audio was cleaned up to minimize the optical track crackle and rumble. The original transfer was not speed locked, so varispeed and numerous edits were required to patch and slide audio back into sync.
Reading this again, I'm not sure what EditDroid are referring to in this paragraph. Are they talking about the work that Belbucus did to patch, clean up and sync the mono mix from my capture, or did they carry out further work to the audio using Belbucus' final audio as their master?

Thanks for this, I look forward to grabbing it.
So the audio, is it as ripped straight from the GOUT DVD, or did you encode the LD PCM to AC3 for your version?
You don't care about the audio Moth3r... You have too old ears ! Remember ?
:)
I remember saying something along those lines in a private message. (How would you like it if I posted your private message to me for public consumption? You know, the one where you said that TV's Frink's mother was a hamster and his father smelled of elderberries?)
Anyhow, the reason I asked about the audio is that some have reported that the audio on the GOUT DVD is lacking in dynamic range when compared to the laserdisc PCM, so I wondered which source was used for Ady's release.
Using a lossless codec such as Huffyuv or Lagarith, one film will be roughly 60GB.
Yes, that is typical of the issues with his ANH Classic Editon V2. But did his ESB CE have the same issues?
See this guide, Step 5.

So . . . essentially this is like the 'Classic Edition', except of much higher quality?
Ocp's Classic Edition did not have any colour-correction applied to the video from the 2004 DVD. I can't comment on the quality, but there were apparantly some issues with his ANH Classic Edition.
PaulisDead2221's Vintage Edit did alter the 2004 colouring, using a histogram technique to match the GOUT colour. It'll be interesting to see how Ady's approach compares.
Thanks for this, I look forward to grabbing it.
So the audio, is it as ripped straight from the GOUT DVD, or did you encode the LD PCM to AC3 for your version?
I believe there was, but the "magic tree" scene occurs in TESB.
So the only difference in V1 and V2 of ANH is the positioning of the Greedo subtitles and the location of the layer break? Same script used for the video each time?
Thanks for posting the ANH script, g-force. I'm currently working on collating details for the various Custom DVDs that have been done, so I can use this to generate screenshots to demonstrate what your script output looks like.
Thread is here if you wanted to check and/or correct any details about your disc.
Bump after thread merge.
Wow, that link has been wrong since 2005 and no-one ever noticed!
Link now corrected, thanks.
I pity you youngsters, really. I consider myself lucky to be old enough to have lived through the golden age of video games.
Sorry, it's more than my job's worth to start restoring threads that were removed by da boss.
