Info: ROTJ forced subtitles
Time

Just to confuse the issue, read THIS POST. That Leia/Boushh line is not subtitled! I don't know what version those subs are based on.

The subtitles I used on my LD transfer were based on the 1995 VHS versions, and the Boushh line is shown. I'll have another look at the DVD and verify the rest of the lines.

For a theatrical reference, we need to find someone with a recording of Jedi off ITV in the eighties. See THIS THREAD.

Mega Madness: The Ultimate Gremlins Companion (* unfinished project *)

I could use a DVD recorder to record off digital satellite or cable. It wouldn't be as ideal as a pure digital capture (e.g. from someone with a Topfield box or DVB-T/S capture card), but connections are analogue RGB via SCART, so the quality would be reasonable.

Do you know during what programme the ad will be aired?

(Also, might be better to have someone else as back up, because I'm notoriosuly bad at remembering to record things...)

.: Citizen's NTSC DVD / PAL DVD / XviD project :. (Released)
Time
The French ANH disc is missing a screenwipe at the end of side 1, between Ben and Luke lifting C3PO and the external shot of Ben's hut. There is also a shorter wipe missing in RoTJ at the end of side 3, just before the first appearance of Wicket. TESB is complete.

I do not have the German set to compare quality, but I believe they are very similar.

Help: Wanted... Revenge of the Sith German Dub?
Time
Let me quote the forum FAQ for your information:
12b. I need some deleted scenes/alternative audio/whatever... for my project, can someone help me out?

If the material has had a retail release on DVD or CD, then you may not request it on the forum. Even if the retail release is rare, out-of-print, a different DVD region or just too expensive, there shall be no exceptions.

If, however, the audio or scene you want has never been officially released, or can only be found on an obsolete format such as VHS or laserdisc, then you can make a request on the forum.

This means you need to buy the German DVD to get the German soundtrack.

Difference in quality of laserdisc players
Time
reave said:

Do you mean it looks similar in the sense that it has similar specs?

I mean from the photographs I've seen on laserdiscarchive.co.uk, the actual design of the players looks to be very similar. The main difference is that the LD-V4400 has fewer connectors on the back.

I'm no more knowledgeable than you on the actual specifications.

I already own the unit, I picked it up at a garage sale on a whim because it was mint in a sealed box, and only $20.

Sounds like a bargain. Well done!

Also, about the comb filter. If that is not something that is on board the LD player, do I buy a comb filter unit, or is that a software thing? Excuse my ignorance in this matter :), and thanks for your help!

Simply put, composite video on a laserdisc is a combination of a luma and a chroma signal. To display the video, or capture into your computer, a comb filter is required to split these signals. Comb filters can be found in TVs, DVD recorders and of course capture devices. Quality varies, poor filters result in "dot crawl". Best results may be obtained with external filters, for example: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280215009270
