Um, shouldn't that AT-AT head be pointing AWAY from us, being that Luke is coming out of the AT-AT's body?  For some reason, it makes me think the AT-AT is alive and its straining its head so it can see what's going on behind it...

Looks like a job for Angel! :D

Also I think that by the end of this scene the sun should be coming up in the background...or simply getting brighter...

I'd also say delete the tree right in front of the AT-AT too (the big one on the left, right beside the head).

In fact, would it be possible to completely rework the area around the landing platform so there are no trees at all?  I know the Empire is stupid beyond belief (which makes me wonder how in the hell they are even an Empire... maybe no one has ever put their stupidity to the test the way the Rebels have, and since the Rebels have poor PR no one knows about it.  It's like putting a 5-year-old in the driver seat of one of those mega dump trucks:

all people see is the truck and don't realize the kid can't drive it worth a damn, much less that a kid is driving the thing), but would they have things with legs walking around a dense forest of trees?  Really?

Hey Vaderios,

Have you ever thought about putting a tutorial (even a basic one) as to how to do photo manipulation like what you do with the images above?  I've tried color correcting and altering, be it the entire picture or parts of it and just came out with a mess or I couldn't get certain colors.  Maybe a tutorial already exists out there... if so, a link would be good if someone here has one...

** how do you convert 720p/1080p files to DVD and retain the HD? **
Time

Don't know if anyone is still perusing this thread, but I am now getting the OPPOSITE issue; I did what you said Ady and used the "split and cut" feature of TSMUXER. I saved a 10 minute segment onto a thumb drive and the video plays on the PS3 but there is no sound.  Is there a setting on TSMUXER I need to reset or do I need to remux the entire MKV file?

Update: this is REALLY making me pull my hair out.  I downloaded a TS file of MOTEL HELL at 1080i over at Cinemageddon, used TXmuxer to create a blu-ray disc (with the 2 file folders), burned it onto DVD-5 using IMGBURN and wala!  It worked!  Plays great!

So... I took some MKV files (of HOWARD THE DUCK and ALIEN), used TXmuxer to convert them to TS files (with 4.1 setting implemented), converted them into blu-ray discs, burned the folders onto DVD-9s with IMGBURN and the PS3 says:

Cannot play video

Why will it convert one TS file perfectly fine and not the others?!?!

So, I didn't notice anything about this on the first page, but is there anything that can be done about Yoda while he is on Luke's back during his training? He looks like a backpack with a Yoda head attached to it, especially when Luke stops running to catch a breath.

Though I'm not sure anything can be done to fix that.

Hmm, maybe if the Taun-Taun sleeping bags go over well, the guys at ThinkGeek.com can make a Yoda backpack, including head!  I think it would sell...

PS: I'm sure Ady will do some tweaking to it, though I'm not sure what he could do other than tone down the "puppet flopping" while Luke runs around...

Some ideas that could be used:

(1) show Yoda's feet do some movement ala he is trying to stay on Luke's back, so in a shot or two show Yoda "scratching" at Luke's back to get a better hold.

(2) definitely tone down the head bouncing back and forth, and/or add some warbling/straining to Yoda's voice to account for the fast, rough movement - try speaking while running full-out and compare that to when Yoda speaks; granted, Yoda isn't doing the running, but he's not going to have an easy time talking when Luke is moving all over the place.

Not everything needs to be explained in movies. like i said before we don't need to see Luke travelling down the shaft. If everything was explained to the audience then what's left for their imagination? Maybe we could get a cameo of Ric Olie in this scene working in the vane and explain everything to the audience?. lol

Finally! that's wat i try to tell people when they question a  movie they see because they don't understand how it worked. Not everything in a movie needs to be explained people!

we're arguing over a weather vane! Wow! we should  argue whether the AT-AT's lasers should be green or red.

Already done that... and the asteroid fart... and the blue vs. grey TIEs... and... is there anything else left?  I think other than Ady posting an update or 2 every so often, this thread is getting needlessly filled up.

The weather vane/ vent pod/ whatever the thing is called debate happened about 4 months ago (more or less) with lots of pics from Vaderios, myself and others.  I frankly would just leave the shot alone, and that way we can all imagine the carbon chamber where we would like it to be.  I just don't want to see the pod changed to the point where it looks goofy and takes me out of the movie - because in order for the carbon chamber to fit in the top of the fin, that sphere is gonna have to be about 3 to 4 times bigger (considering the set is roughly 40 to 50 feet wide, with another 10 to 20 feet around it to account for the blue fog and the need for a gantry for Leia and Co to walk on to it.  Compare a roughly 60 to 80 foot sized set to the 12 to 15 foot wide pod during the "Vader attacks Luke after he falls out the pod window" scene)

Because ye carbon of freezing chamber can only be in one of three places:

here:

or here (yes, I know this is ruled out, but just putting it out to show the concept):

A good thought is when luke is popping his head we can add a new establishing shot that shows 2 doors. One is locked that appears captured leia went that way and one open that is the trap. So a tunnel, elevator or what is good to showed there!

here is a quickie. Well where the panels are imagine a door or something, that shows luke must follow the dark path lol

-Angel

I like the top one a lot better... a little more subtle (elevator to go up, dark path to go down.. not to mention the steam already indicates proximity to the carbonite chamber.  Besides, the second pic seems a little off to me). Maybe put some colored "blinkies" on the elevator door control panel if you need it to stand out a little more...

Adywan, that reminds me.  I know that the lightsaber that flew out the 'round window' with Luke IS actually shown, but I still think it's a bit lost among the nearby 'debris' in the shot without your helpful arrow, which pointed it out to me in the first place, lol....

I'd still like to see it perhaps positioned nearer to Luke's right hand (where our eyes are drawn during this shot), if at all possible.  No worries if not, but for years i thought that it had surely fallen down the long chasm below, and that it was yet another oversight by the makers when Luke appeared with it to face Vader again!  Turned out I was wrong, but I wonder how many others thought this due to it not being placed in a little more obvious position?

That or just get rid of the extra junk on the walkway, so the only thing on the grating is the sabre.

which would crush the snow speeder even MORE when the weight of the AT-AT shifted onto that foot when the others start to move.

Now that is EXACTLY how I feel, whether it is putting "all" its weight on it or not,it is going to flatten, and in my opinion,it is putting all its weight on it,it is walking forward isn't it?

If the scene were to continue on, it would get more crushed as it started walking again, but it's pretty stationary at the time we see. It comes down and stays there motionless for a second or two. (it would be funny if it started rotating right and left, like it's squishing a bug) That leg would be slightly bent and the rest would be more or less straight.

That's something else; while the AT-ATs weren't exactly fast, the legs (and feet) still moved at a regular steady pace.  So if you were to make the "foot stomp" scene consistent with the farther shots of AT-ATs moving, the upper part should be slowly swinging from right to left to indicate the upper leg moving while the other legs were picking up off the ground and moving forward.  In this case, the upper area would slowly swing to the left, as we would see the foot not just crush more into the snow speeder with the initial impact, but drive further down into it in the later part of the shot (while Luke is on the ground) - granted, it is literally a second, but it would be nice/cool to see the close-up foot match the movement of the feet in the overall AT-AT body shots.

What you see in the movie is simply due to the limitations of 1980 FX work (they probably literally dropped the foot prop onto the snow speeder, which means the upper area where the leg connected to the foot probably didn't have anything to pivot with)

the problem i see with doing this is that even if a lightsaber can cut through anything there should probably be a drag factor when cutting through armor like that - think qui-gon melting the blast doors in tpm but not so severe. that may make it undo-able. plus ady didn't seem too keen on this idea iirc. still he's changed his mind before :)

Well, it's also the arc of the lightsabre.. does it go "through" the outer armor plate above Luke when he swings it?  Even if the extra FX work is simply on the door itself (to make it a hole he's cut as opposed to a door that just opens for him) that would work, but one has to look at the path of the sabre as Luke swings it to see if the FX goes through solid objects without any interaction, regardless of what that interaction would be.

in regards to the AT-AT foot crushing the snow speeder:
have you seen what happens to cars and even 18-wheelers in high speed accidents?  The snow speeder is not going to weigh very much being that it is a flying machine (anti-grav or not) and the foot on an AT-AT has to weigh a few tons alone.  Combine the two and just the initial foot stomp is going to crush it like a tin foil model (with bits and ends up-ending from the foot crushing down into it), which would crush the snow speeder even MORE when the weight of the AT-AT shifted onto that foot when the others start to move.

By the way any change to open a bit the landscape of the dagobah? I know you like the close feel it has and i agree with you. Just only to eliminate the stage look and look more alien and natural in the long shots. Only subtle things( remember my mockups if you wish)

-Angel

And dagobah, i prefer it the way it is. i don't feel that the landscape needs to be opened up at all as the enclosed look gives the planet a bit of eeriness and mystery.

I think what Vaderios is getting at is the set scenes mostly, in how some of the shots come across "as a set".  I wouldn't want to see anything radically changed, but things like the area behind the X-wing when it starts to sink, if we could actually see a bit of the path it took behind it, or say in the scene right after Luke crashes and we see the overall swamp area if there could be some added vines in the upper right as well as maybe a slight fog layer to explain how Luke could have crashed when in that shot it is clear enough to see the entire forest area.  Also, maybe just some slight touching up in the rear areas of the live-action set scenes - just anything to get rid of any of that "Hello, I'm Tim Burton and this is my set" look (not that I can recall any of the Dagobah sets looking THAT bad).  Even so, it's no biggie - it's not like we're talking about the stick knocking down the AT-AT or anything...

I would just like to bring this one back up.

Ady, will you be adding any saber marks for this shot? I figure since Luke swings across the surface, rather than stabbing the door lock, that it seems logical to see where Luke's saber touched the surface. Thoughts?

Luke had cut the latch and there is no real place to add any burn marks. i may add a faint heat glow on each section of the latch but that's about it

Ehh, I understand where you're coming from Ady, but it IS a lightsabre not a lockpick... not to mention, when Luke swings that thing, does the FX of the blade go through any of the metal around the door?  Besides, isn't it convenient for Luke that he shoots up a grappling hook into the belly of the AT-AT and just so happen to have a latched door right above him?  >:)

At the same time, re-doing the FX to show him slicing open the AT-AT belly, putting in the glow and everything else would mean more waiting.

Still, I think I would prefer Luke MAKING an opening rather than lucking (or "luking"?) out and "opening a door".

Even so, if you keep the door, could you add a snow trooper looking out (goes to check it out to see why it opens, looks out and sees Luke, "Holy crap!  There's a man underneath of us!  Hmm, how did he get there, and why would he be there?".. as you see the bomb get thrown in behind him as he's rubbing his chin thinking...)

no updates on the progress i'm afraid. there are a few things going on in my life at the moment, and my health isn't too good either, that is preventing me from starting on the models. Hopefully it won't be long before i can start though.

Sorry about all of that stuff... I feel your pain here.  When I was working on my Fine Arts degree in Photography I think I spent a good 50 hours without sleep in a darkroom trying to get some 14x20 color prints to color correct "correctly".  That's 50 hours, not eating, in almost pitch-black darkness and with chemicals... that was not enjoyable.

3. new star fields
Didn't the Director's Cut already do this, or are you going with something different?

I want to see how a more STAR WARS star field looks (where the stars are smaller and more numerous); I may consider adding in elements like the Milky Way belt (not a full-on galaxy, but something more subtle).  Regardless, I will be posting examples.

2. computer screens will get make-over; may consider altering consoles in some way to have more viewscreens and less switches.
I do believe the Nostromo was meant to be a low-tech ship. Adding screens would seem out of place especially considering the mother chat room only has one interactive screen inside it.

If anything is going to be changed, it will be the view screens.  I don't know if I could ADD anything, like change the appearance of the actual consoles, but the idea is to give them a slight update, so whatever new graphics are added will reflect what the older moniters showed in the movie.  I'm using low-tech in my home right now and MY moniter has better graphics!  <:)

Trust me; while STAR WARS was a big influence on me (being that I was 7 when I saw it in '77), ALIEN is the one movie that has influenced me the most being that I was kept from seeing it or never got around to seeing it until 7 years after '79.  Until then, all I had was the photo novel and the illustrated story, and that was after some MISSION:IMPOSSIBLE style haranging with the friends.

3. bouncing helmet in background will be stabilized/static.
Aww. Why? If your going to do that, you might as well remove the banging chair, flapping paper and the bird drinking deco. I myself think that movement in what looks like an abandoned ship makes it more eerie than a ship that's perfectly still.

Yup. A lot of that is going bye-bye.  I understand the whole "atmosphere" thing and all, but short of the air system coming on, nothing is going to be moving in a freezing vacuum.

4. smoke will be deleted when Nostromo detaches from docking arm

Aww, but Scott said he liked that effect, even admitting it makes no sense.

While I understand that to a degree you CAN have smoke in space, that scene in particular is an example of dated FX.  If I can work it in, I also plan on adding ice particles coming off ala SILENT RUNNING.

3. may slow down Kane's POV of the face-hugger so we can better see what is happening.

Doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of the shot? Sure, it's hard to spot what's going on, but there is merit to it. "Oh, god. What just happened?" can be a lot more effective. The more you see the Alien doing it's thing, the more comfortable one will be with it.

I understand: there is the conflict between "what the hell was that?! (shock and horror)"  to "what the hell was that?! (it's so damn quick you have to wonder why its even there)"  I'll play with it; it's the kind of thing that you don't know how it is going to play until you play it.  I'm not going to have this in the final cut if it doesn't work for me.  The idea was to slow it down maybe a second or two (or more like a split-second or two); not so much to linger, but just to get a split second MORE of a view so you better get the idea of what Kane is seeing.  As it stands, it is LITERALLY a split second and short of pausing the image and still-stepping, you never even see it.

4. early plotpoint had Ripley being Dallas' lover; if possible, I will be "adding" Ripley laying beside Dallas when Ash calls him in the shuttle (this will set up the cocoon scene later if used)
NO! Don't do that! Ripley is meant to be a very independent character who is supposed to be in conflict with Dallas, not be his bed mate. And it's totally out of place considering that these two argue with each other over orders and command responsibilities. Leave that 'lover' stuff in Alien3 where it belongs (And if you ever get a chance to do ALIEN3, delete the lover stuff).

Again, that's me.  If you notice, when she's arguing with Dallas, it is obvious that if anyone is friends on this ship its them.  Now whether they're LOVERS can be argued, but she sure is chummy enough that when she questions Dallas he doesn't give her a lot of shit.  Like I stated before, IF I can manage to work in the cocoon scene per my script above, the whole idea is to add something to when she has to kill Dallas.

If anything, I appreciate it more when characters actually care about one another (or at least SOME of them do) than when they're just independent entities.  Now they don't have to be lovers or family members, but it can help.  I'm just sick of the CABIN FEVER fodder that acts like friends until the S hits the F and they all ditch each other.

10. will do some slight editing to the "Dallas in the airshaft" sequence: the camera will close in on him as he descends the ladder, so when he turns the light towards us it will cut to the Alien jump scare (that way we won't see the Alien stuck in the wall).

Well, it's your edit, but I think cutting to the ALIEN the moment Dallas shines his light towards the camera is a bit to quick. Plus, we'd be cutting parts of Lambert's line "No, not that way! Wait! The other way Dallas!"

Those are my thoughts anyway.

Lambert's lines will remain, but I will still be editing the scene visually.  I never liked how the Alien is just sitting in an alcove (due to the limitations of the suit) when the tracker shows it moving towards Dallas.

Regardless, I do appreciate the input.  Hopefully in a couple of weeks, I hope to make some example images so you can get an idea of what I'm planning on.

I am very interested to see a update To Alien with new effect shots etc....

It is my all time favorite film.  May I suggest adding a deleted scene back in to the film?  But it is called the "box" scene.  At the point Ripley is turning the corner to go to the shuttle, after setting the self destruct, she sees the alien folded into a box shape in the hall blocking here way.  She apparently gets a good look at it before it slowly unfolds and stands up.

That would be very hard to do... I can think of maybe taking a shot of the hallway looking towards the entrance to the Narcissus and adding in the Alien element; this would also require reworking the music, since it is geared for the jump scare.

Oh and by the way...please don't call it "Redux" in your final release as I already used that one.  :)

It will be ALIEN: REVISITED in the menu screen only.  I will only make the REDUX in the movie title for my copy.

Please don't do this.  I absolutely hate it when the title of a fan edit makes it clear that it's a fan edit.  This has prevented me from getting a lot of fan edits that I would otherwise have liked.  For instance, does the Final Cut of Blade Runner say Blade Runner: The Final Cut in the opening credits?  No, because "The Final Cut" is simply the name of the version of the film, not the film's title itself.  Make the menus say whatever you want, i.e. Ady's use of "Revisited" in the intro to his menu and throughout the menus, but please please please leave the title within the film itself the same.

Okay! Okay!  I get it!  <:D

I'll probably just do it for me then (as far as the title thing goes).  If and when this gets released, the title will be unmolested (for some reason CSA, your post got me into thinking about that HARVEY BIRDMAN episode where they started making fun of all of the CSI spin-offs: HARVEY BIRDMAN, ELEVATOR OPERATOR, HARVEY BIRDMAN: BABY MYSTERY CLUB, etc).

Or I could have "revisited" burst out of the title, or have the letters chase themselves around like a PINK PANTHER opening title sequence... I'm sure that would fit...

Also, using the "revisited" tag may give people the impression that it's an Adywan production.

The general point behind calling it ALIEN: REVISITED (even though the actual title on the screen will be ALIEN: REDUX, since I can have the five letter REDUX slowly appear below the five letter ALIEN on the top of the screen) is to indicate what will be done, which will be a little more than editing.  Everyone here is familiar with what Ady has done, and since the word "revisited" isn't copyrighted everyone gets the gist.

Also, if someone else has the means of making something like this happen, by all means do so.  I have a pretty good PC, though I'm sure I will have to invest in a few 1 TB hard drives and some upgrades.  I am completely virgin on the After Effects and Vegas fronts, so I will have to learn... which is good, since there are no 720p versions of the original ALIEN out yet, thus I can take that time to learn how to use those programs (and maybe make some other edits just to get the practice).

The whole idea is bascially to get it "out there" for people to comment on, make suggestions and pick up where I may not.   Maybe someone who sees this and has the skill will either help or create their own version.  Either way would be good with me.  <:)

But they don't have hyperspeed, that's the point of the sleeping pods.  Or at least, that's my understanding.

in regards to "hyperspace", they do have a form of faster than light travel in that they would have to in order to cover the ground they are traveling - remember that they are a few months away from Earth and still have a good double-digit light year distance away from it.  Even with faster-than-light travel, if it will still take months to go from one area of the galaxy to another, you will still need hypersleep chambers due to practicality (less food and water needs, much less toiletries).

The film takes place at the Zeta 2 Reticulae star system, which is roughly 39 light years away from Earth:

Zeta Reticulae star system

What is interesting about these links is that apparently the system has been used by UFO buffs as the source of the Greys and other alien "visitors", so even before the movie the system was associated with the possible source of alien life.

There is also the possibility that the area the Nostromo is in is near the Magellanic Cloud just outside the Milky Way galaxy.

ChainsawAsh said:

Are you considering restoring any/all of Goldsmith's original, unused cues?  The isolated score track on the 20th (25th?) anniversary DVD contains his complete original score in its entirety, including all unused cues, exactly where they're supposed to go in the movie.

probably not... though I would like to listen to those tracks and see how they play in the movie.  Musically I'm fine with what is in the film; I like the other temp tracks from FREUD and the like.  The idea of making an alternate audio track using a TOMITA-esque soundtrack "may" make it on an alternative edit, but the main reason to do this was simply to correct a few things (like the coffee mug and the control arm lowering the Nostromo model during the landing sequence) and maybe spice some things up with the rest of the movie.

I plan on doing a pure theatrical cut edit, which will be modified with some audio and visual FX, and then see if the cocoon scene could be edited in according to the script I posted above; same with the possible Tomita score.  If I can't work it in, then I will be more than happy with the theatrical edit.

Mother Earth 5-blu-ray IMAX collection
Alaska: Spirit of the Wild
Great North
Antarctica: Adventure of a Different Nature
Imax Antarctica (same disc, but maybe cheaper prices)
The Alps

I say just look for anything snow related with Imax blu-ray releases or even some of those blu-ray "moving scfeen saver" type discs (usually involving Hawaii, fireplaces, aquariums or the like).

Also, if you decide to purchase these directly Ady, you coudl always email the sellers on Amazon.com to see if they will ship to the UK (since it looks like the prices on amazon.com are cheaper than those on amazon.co.uk)

If we intend for the modern Imperial forces to resemble the Old Republican forces, these are probably not the best designs for that, but brightly painted Mandalorian pirate ships would look pretty nifty.

I would have the Imperial SDs resemble Sith battle cruisers.  I say make the Jedi and the Sith actual forces to be reckoned with, and the Empire was created as a means of wiping out ALL religion.  Being that the Empire is a good mix of the Nazis, Communist Russia and colonial British Empire, one of the goals of the first 2 groups was to eradicate religion as they believed it to be the source of all bad things.  If it is shown just how ravaged the Republic becomes due to the constant crusades and jihads the Jedi and Sith declare on each other (with everyone else left in between) I could easily see how the masses could elect the 3rd party candidate so to speak (in the form of a General Palpatine) who then becomes the first Caesar.

In regards to the Mandalorians, one could make them more like the Templars than pirates - they are hired to do specific jobs, which may or may not mean assasination, stealing or whatnot.  I would keep them low in number (like 10 or 12) and give each unique battle armor.

Why not rethink Palpatine and the Republic as well?

My thoughts tended to focus on the bigger issue of HOW the Republic would fall and be turned into an Empire.  I say go to the history books and copy what happened with the Roman Republic's fall and re-emergance as an Empire, with Palpatine a stand-in for Caesar.

My idea for a complete reboot would have the Jedi and Sith in the midst (if not near the end) of a centuries long Crusade/Jihad, with the Jedi being a mix of the Holy Roman Empire and Buddhism and the Sith being a mix of Islam and Nehilism (or Nietzsche-ism), with both sides visually shown in a way to represent their beliefs: - the Jedi have color coded robes to indicate the profession of the Jedi (hunter, healer, thinker, etc), whereas the Sith have no ranking system.

I would give the Jedi a floating temple/city above Coruscant (as opposed to the capital of Alderaan), the commercial hub of the Republic to show how they have their "heads in the clouds" and essentially look down upon the people they "serve"; that while they still want to help people, it is the same mentality some religious/environmentalist groups have say to helping pets.  The Jedi know how much power they have and take pride in their wisdom and enlightenment to not use it to rule but to guide; forget that their egos have the better of them.  The Jedi also look down on technology and prefer a more simple and spiritual way of things.  The reasoning for the Jedi's move to Coruscant would be to stem the corrupting influence of technology, which itself is tempting the Jedi to change their ways.   This would already indicate how the Jedi have become corrupted much like how the Church did throughout the Holy Roman Empire (look up what monks did during the Renaissance and what led to the Protestant Reformation).  In fact, Anakin could be developed into a "Martin Luthor" character who seeks to protest against the jedi order and form a faction of his own.

The Sith could be seen to have a more naturalistic view of things, with their planet/temple resembling vines growing into the ground - that they tend to work underneath the surface of things, even as they fight massive scaled battles with the Jedi in the open (I guess a good way to describe them would be religious ninjas).  They seek not to conquer so much as to allow people to evolve naturally without the Jedi acting as a roadblock to their natural progress.  The Sith would garner power from technology and use it to extend their lives.

Palpatine could rise to power due to a direct attack on the Jedi temple from a Sith battle fleet, whereupon a good portion of the city (and the people) are destroyed.  The people, being tired of being caught in the middle of a 2-sided religious war, begin to reject "religion" and want someone to stop this chaos.  Palpatine, rather than being a manipulating Sith Lord, is simply a general like Patton or Rommel who is tired of the chaos as well and voices the concerns of the people when he speaks out - I guess a better example would be Andrew Jackson, who was a master tactition but an outspoken asshole.  In the end, power corrupts, and maybe it is after being mortally wounded that he is relegated to using the Dark Side of the Force to stay alive.

This might help.

I'm pretty sure i have that in 1080p somewhere. i'll have to have a search through my vids.

Be an "inside the cockpit" view or to add a snowspeeder model or 2, the shot from 0:20 to 0:31 would be fantastic to use (say during the "Zev search" scene)!

Another suggestion:
nothing big, but how would putting an "aurora borealis" in some of the Hoth night shots be (say maybe - maybe- when we see Han trying to set up the tent after putting Luke in the Taun-Taun)?  I was thinking something much slower and more methodical than what is seen at 5:22 to 5:50.

ALIEN: REVISITED movie edit (* unfinished project *)

I think Alien's theatrical cut is perfect as is, but if you feel you can improve it, more power to you.

I agree that the theatrical cut is "fine" per se, but at the least the continuity errors and some of the creaky FX could use some work.  Even if nothing is replaced, just to see a 720p version without that damn arm lowering the Nostromo model would be good enough!

I am, however, very interested in a "Revisit" of Dune.  There are a lot of edits out there that seem promising, but the one thing every editor seems too lazy to do is to rotoscope the Fremen's blue eyes in the reinstated deleted scenes, which really takes me out of the movie every time it happens.

And if you could get rid of the damn Weirding Modules, that'd be great as well, but I doubt it's possible.

That's just it: I LOVE the Wierding Modules.  Its not just a cool weapon, but the idea more than fits into the DUNE universe: the concept that you can literally make a weapon out of a word.

Imagine having a device that could turn "fuuuuuck YOU" into a sonic blast that could destroy, say, the slow driver in front of you?  Or "aaassssHOLE" and they just collapse to the ground paralyzed?  It wasn't simply that sonic waves were coming out and blowing stuff up (though that is pretty much all you see in the movie) but that you could achieve different effects depending on the word you used and how you said it.  In other words, taking politics to the next level.

Regarding the eyes, if possible I plan on doing more than just rotoscoping a blue area on the overall eye area.  I plan on making the whites slightly blue, but focus the more "glow-y" aspects to the iris and give them a BLADE RUNNER back-glow to the pupils, which should be quite effective when the Fremen are first shown in the dark cave scene (when Jessica and Paul climb up the mountain to get away from the worm).

Now the middle ground and far off shots of the Fremen I will try to just rotoscope the blue on the eyes, as well as the back-glow on the pupils.  I will keep the above changes for the close-ups when you can actually see them.

I will open up a seperate DUNE:R forum link so this one doesn' get convoluted with intermixed comments.
