Director's Cuts?

I have tossed around that idea, of writing a total replacement for the Prequel Trilogy, according to my own spec, based mainly on the OOT, the novels, and the Zahn trilogy.

I have a number of ideas, but lack the facility for organizing them coherently.

Info Wanted: a Pre-ANH edit of Ep IV?

Among the Seramyu (Sailor Moon musicals / stage shows) community the same attitude of elitism is common. This stuff is only marketed and sold in Japan, and it's rather expensive for some people, but until recently, only clips circulated around the Internet. I torrented a handful of them (and released one with subtitles), with the intention of breaking this stranglehold.

I think it's worked. When I released a subtitle of one complete musical, about 1550 people downloaded it off BitTorrent.

When I encode AVIs, I usually use a cropped 704x480, such that if my ratio is 4:3, my output is 704x480; 16:9, 704x400; 2.35:1, 704x300. I haven't heard of movies in stranger ratios, so I think I've got it covered. XD

Star Wars looks nice on my monitor at 704x300. Though, to be honest, I actually prefer pan and scan on such a small (LOL, 17") display. (Not to mention, until downloading the Dr. Gonzo rips, I had not actually seen the OOT in widescreen, nor the SE ESB, and had only seen the SE ANH and ROTJ in widescreen once, in the theater, usually watching a TV cap I taped in 1993 or 94 off USA, which was my first exposure to any of the movies - so the OOT for me is 4:3, not 2.35:1 as for most people, who caught it in the theaters.)

Director's Cuts?

I don't agree with "director's cuts" myself, though, I will allow the exception, if it's clearly marked as an alternate, for a version with the effects fixed, but stuff like Greedo shooting first really sticks in my craw. (And Hayden pasted over Sebastian Shaw, even more so.)

A friend of mine, who is acquiring the hardware, and has shrink wrapped copies of the Faces laser, and wants to create yet another DVD set, said he didn't mind the 1997 SE, because it was clearly labelled as a modified version! (As the 2004 DVDs are NOT)
