Episode VIII : The Last Jedi - Discussion * SPOILER THREAD *
Time

Honestly, this movie is my last go-round with the New Continuity - having been lukewarm about TFA and completely disappointed by Rogue One and any of the new canon novels I’ve read (exception: Lost Stars). If “The Last Jedi” is anything less than amazing, I’m out. I’ll stick with the OT and the 1990s EU stuff that I enjoy.

This. (Except all that EU stuff, I haven’t the inclination.)

4K restoration on Star Wars

The matter has survived for 30 years on nothing more than fumes and wishful thinking. I think you underestimate the matter’s will to live.

Oh it will live on for decades to come. But only in our hearts. Your average punter will buy whatever is shoved in front of them without knowing the difference, and those numbers are what matter.

4K restoration on Star Wars
Time

If they are not doing anything right now, I don’t see how 2020 is a realistic date. One because such a restoration is surely a lengthy process to have it ready then is not feasible. Two because if damaged and aged film prints are in bad shape now, they will be even worse when that time rolls around.

Poita whatever you are doing keep it hidden from the Empire or it will go the way of Mike Verta’s work.

Our open letter to Disney and Lucasfilm

But what I meant is that if you don’t treat it like a properly remastered release, then you don’t have to remaster it. Like a TV special or an interview taken from the late 70s there’s no need to do any work since it’s a just a curio. It will be noticeable but nobody would care. LFL gets to say they are keeping the history alive, while furthering the same old original vision narrative.
