But it’s not on brand. As a company they need to pretend all of this stuff is one clean Star Wars product from the spin-offs to the toys they sell. No weird dance-offs at their theme parks, no special features on DVDs that suggest any behind the scenes drama. And so it’s keeping with that line of thinking if they say yes, George Lucas created all of this and it was always this way. I’d love to think otherwise but I can’t imagine any other outcome. The theatrical release of the OOT is probably treated with contempt like the old EU now.

You are wrong and always will be. The hope and patient persistence of our cause will always triumph over the hopelessness of those like you. The answer is not to become downtrodden at any point but continue onwards to our self made victory.

What the heck are you even saying. I’m talking about reality of corporate think tanks and you’re quoting audiobooks on the power of positive thinking.

Rey isn’t a Jedi yet.

Which begs the question what does Rey miss, that would prevent her from being called a Jedi? She has pretty much all the skills. She defeated Kylo Ren, resisted Snoke, and rejected Kylo Ren’s offer. What else is left for her to do, outside of defeating Kylo Ren again?

Being a Jedi is about more than just having all the skillz (which there’s no indication she has anyway). She defeated Kylo in a moment of weakness for him (and the next time she tried to face him she never even got to ignite her saber). She did not resist Snoke. And rejecting a single offer towards the dark side doesn’t mean that you’ll never face temptation again. Luke rejected Vader’s offer in ESB, don’t forget.

Sure, but let’s also not forget, that Luke did not have the level of control Rey has at the end of TESB. Luke still struggled to lift a few rocks, and got handed his *** by Vader. Rey came out victorious by comparison, and even got to rescue the rebels in the end.

That doesn’t make her a Jedi.

Right.

Being a Jedi was never about having level 90 flip ability and knowing how to dismember a dude in a few seconds. Power levels and midichlorians are PT nonsense. “My powers have doubled since we last met” says Anakin. WHAT. What does that even mean. The whole trilogy is gibberish. Now take ROTJ and what does Luke really do to become a Jedi Knight? He fights yet again, and he actually only beats Vader in combat when anger and rage fuel his body. Just like Vader said in ESB. But becoming a Jedi has nothing to do with sweet moves and fighting abilities. Luke goes beyond that and throws down the saber. It’s a spiritual state of mind, like a touch of Zen. People argue over and over about ridiculous things like how can Rey do this or that. Who even cares. It’s irrelevant.

We never got the Maz Leia scene from TFA, did we? They’ll probably pull footage/dialogue from that.

Maybe. There’s also another deleted scene that was on the home release. The Oliver Reed in Gladiator treatment would be fine, depending on what they have to work with.

I saw on Twitter that there was also a scene filmed of Leia at the Republic asking for ressources.

Are you sure it’s not the included deleted scene where she sends Kor Sella to the Senate? Or maybe a scene of Kor Sella at the Senate, and not Leia?

Considering Kor Sella (and the Republic Senate) dies in TFA, I wouldn’t think any of that would work for IX.

Well I imagine they can replace the character she’s speaking to, swap around the context. Hey presto Leia is talking about her allies in the Outer Rim instead.

They have one less feeble excuse for not releasing it now though.

Or it could be even less reason. Once they control everything all off brand material can be finally wiped from existence. The X-Men and F4 series can be crushed so that the real versions can exist in their MCU, and any remnants of the old cuts of SW can be swept away.

I totally expected Carrie to be back in one form or another. Personally I think it’s cool, there’s no need to have real life tragedy influence the story out of pure convenience. More worried about the writing quality of the overall plot more than anything else.

News of a body double dressed as Leia would no doubt also leak early. It’s a wonder Yoda being in TLJ didn’t leak at all, AFAIK.

Besides the John Williams score (which I didn’t hear before seeing it) I don’t think so.

General Star Wars Random Thoughts Thread
Time

I haven’t seen a SW movie in full screen since the 1995 video releases. That line where Luke sees the sand people through his binoculars never made sense since they were cropped out of the frame.

In other random thoughts has anyone else ever noticed that the actor who play Jerec in Dark Forces II was the MI6 agent that tries to drug James Bond after he goes rogue in License to Kill? Probably just me.

The problem is that certain audience members just expected to have their fan service brain centres massaged again, since that’s what a lot of what TFA and Rogue One offered. SW was back, and it was important. They were important as fans. But since TLJ didn’t end with Luke killing 400 dudes with a green lightsaber nobody cheered.
